Angelica, the cryptic witch
(John P.O.V)
Ahem.... WHAT?? Peggy and Maria are dating now. So I'm the only single friend. That stings. I just sat there on a chair as all my friends cuddled with their boyfriend/girlfriends. Why? Why me?! This is unfair. I pulled out my phone.
TurtlesandFlowers: Hey. You single?
I had to wait for a second before he responded.
LittleLion: Yes I am, are you hitting on me? Cause I'm ok with that, I just wasn't expecting it.
TurtlesandFlowers: I'm not hitting on you, I'm just sitting on a couch watching Nemo while all my friends snuggle their partners
LittleLion: Oh trust me, I've been through that.
TurtlesandFlowers: Good, I'd hate to be the only single friend
LittleLion: No don't worry, I've never dated and never will.
TurtlesandFlowers: Why's that?
LittleLion: Reasons.
TurtlesandFlowers: Wow, way to be vague
LittleLion: I know, I excel at it.
TurtlesandFLowers: Boastful much
LittleLion: I need to go now, I have class.
TurtlesandFlowers: Bye
LittleLion: Bye.
I scrolled through my camera roll and found some pictures I'd taken of my friends, namely Peggy. We'd found this really nice spot in a park nearby, and taken lots of photos there. I'll just put it out there, my camera skills aren't the worst. Then again, she's really photogenic.
I looked up. Maria and Peggy had gone to get snacks because they couldn't be apart for even four minutes all of a sudden. I sighed and sagged back into the chair, tuning my head so I could watch the Nemo. It was a good movie and I was disappointed when it was over, possibly just because the characters were a good distraction from my painfully obvious singleness.
"Has anyone seen Totoro?" I asked.
"I have." Maria volunteered. "It's a good movie."
"Well let's watch it then." I got up. "I have it on DVD, I'll go get it."
Everyone nodded and I sighed, pulling on my shoes. It's wrong for me to be bitter about my friends being happy, but you can't blame me. Imagine you have a very small group of friends and then everyone in that group has a partner except you. (trust me John, I have) Does Alex count as part of my circle of friends? I don't know. Well he's single, so that's something to consider. I shook my head, clearing my head, then walked over to my dorm which was luckily pretty close by. I stepped inside and, as expected, my roommate was nowhere to be seen. He spent all his time at his friend's dorm or something. I honestly couldn't care less, we never spoke. I grabbed the DVD from my drawer of random things, which had DVDs, a few sketches and some other random things (hence the name) that had memories attached to. As I stood up, my phone started ringing.
I checked the caller and noticed it was Angelica. That was odd, we'd barely spoken since she'd left for New York.
"Hey Angie, why you calling?" I asked.
Wow John, how polite.
"Oh I'm sorry your highness but you haven't spoken to me in a month."
Yeah, sorry about that. I have something to tell you that might interest you.
"Ah? What is it?"
My sisters and I are meeting up in South Carolina over the winter break.
"Peggy told me."
Ah, but I'm bringing some people.
"Again, Pegs told me."
Did she tell you who?
I was interested now. "No... who is it?"
One of them is my roommate, the other... well...
"Angie?"
Let's just say, when you meet him, remember he's a person, not just there for books.
"Angie, do you think you could be a bit less cryptic?"
Nope. Bye John.
"Angelica!" Silence. "Angie?"
She'd hung up.
"Oh god Angelica why do you do this to me?"
I put my phone in my pocket and walked back to Peggy and Maria's dorm. I wanted to ask Peggy is she knew what her sister was talking about, and also, my DVD player broke a few days ago and I wanted to watch totoro. I opened the door and took off my shoes, handing Maria the DVD as I sat down next to Peggy.
"Hey Pegs?" I called for her attention.
"Yeah?" She looked at me.
"I just got a call from Angie."
"Really? She wouldn't even call me."
"She was being really cryptic and weird about who she was bringing. Do you know who?"
Peggy paused, clearly thinking. "Theo's coming, I know that. And the mystery person is male, and they go to King's with Angie, they're working on a law degree. That's all I know, sorry John."
"She was talking about him being a person, not just for books."
"I honestly don't know who the person is, I swear... sometimes Angie reminds me of a witch or something, like the way she withholds everything she knows util it's convenient for her."
"Yeah, that seems about right. Oh well, thanks anyways Pegs." I got up and went back to my chair.
I wish Angelica could be more straight forwards about everything. Not only who the hell was coming with her on the trip or whatever it was being called, but everything in general. Angie had never been a up front person unless it was her opinions on people. She never hid those.

I watched John sit in his chair as I started the movie. Damn Peggy was a good liar, I wouldn't have noticed her lie if I hadn't known the truth. She knew exactly who Angie was talking about, it was Alexander Hamilton. I'd read one of his books, he was a good author. John on the other hand, adored the writer. He had every single book and had read every interview at least seven times. There were a very small amount of interviews, which I understood. Hamilton was just a college student, only one year older then me. It made sense he didn't want to sit down with some annoying show host and discuss his life if he had essays to write and tests to study for. I sighed and sat back down next to Peggy.
"Are you gonna tell him?" I whispered to her.
"Somehow people will figure it out then it'll be all over the internet, he can piece it together from there." She replied in the same hushed tone.
"That's fair, but what if it doesn't spread over the internet, and then he walks into your house and boom, his idol's there."
"I don't know, I feel bad for Alex." Peggy sighed.
"Why?"
"Angie had a point, she told John that the person she was bringing was a human, not only for books. It would make no sense if he didn't know who she was talking about." She looked at John, who was singing along to the music. "But Alex is two years older than me, I don't think he wants to be treated like some godly author to be honored and respected, you know? He's a law student who hasn't slept since he was twelve and has written a story or two, the poor man should just be left at that."
"I agree, but I think John does too, once he gets over the shock of seeing his favorite human ever standing in front of him."
"I hope so." Peggy sighed and snuggled into my side, so I wrapped an arm around her shoulders.
