7 - Thank You

Reasons Why I Hate Kai #7 : He smirks to much

My eyes widened at the sight, our apartment was fine except for a small gash in the living room, couldn't say the same about Mr. Roberts apartment. But the thing that had me worried was the fact that Aunt Helen and Leif weren't in the apartment but instead were at the corner store. I parked the motorcycle quickly and ran inside as crab man flooded through the streets.

The lights were dark but there was a small huddle of people ducked under the table.

"Leif! Aunt Helen!" Their heads poked up and Aunt Helen sighed with relief.

She stood and wrapped her arms around me. Leif hugged my leg.

"Come on, I got a motorcycle just outside and if we leave now-"

"Attack!" Suddenly the entire roof of the corner store was ripped off. I grabbed Leif and pushed him through the door. Aunt Helen ran after.

I skidded to a stop when a group of crab men circled us.

Leif inched in between my legs, his eyes wide.

"Alright," I growled. "Try and see what happens."

The generals glanced at each other. The first shrugged and charged at me. I drew my first back and sucker punched him in the face. He fell like a sack of potatoes.

A loud rumble brought my attention to a large bus flying through the air.

"ISLA!" Aunt Helen screamed in warning.

The generals scattered and I grabbed Leif and ran for it. Suddenly I was plucked from the air. I dove and narrowly missed being hit as the bus smashed into the pavement.

I could feel the sting of scrapes and I wheezed as dirt filled my lungs.

I became aware of Garamdon's giant mech nearing. I stared in shock as the green ninja circled the mech while the rest covered the generals.

"Leif." I croaked. Pulling myself achingly my knees, searching for my little brother.

"Isla!" I heard a startled cry through the sounds of battle.

I wasn't sure use where Aunt Helen was but I ran towards the voice. Leif was stuck under a large piece of what used to be the corner store roof.

"Oh Leif." I tried to stay calm. His leg was pinned but the rest if him looked okay. He sighed with relief when I gripped his hand and bent down beside him, checking his vitals.

"I'm going to get you out of here buddy." I said in determination. I surveyed the piece pinning him down and started to dig at the craggy earth around his leg to give him more room. It was to big for me to move by myself but if I gave him room below he could pull it out.

He cried out in pain and gripped my hand tighter.

"What's wrong bud?" I asked anxiously.

"It hurts." Leif sobbed.

"I know Leif." I was crying too. "I just need to get you out of here."

A shock of ice narrowly missed as the ice ninja entered, freezing some of the generals.

My eyes widened when I saw Garmadon stumbling nearer in his mech and worked harder to try and get the dirt out. The ground was rough and my fingers were raw and my nails broken. I didn't care as I kept on clawing at the earth.

"Fire, there's a girl with a kid over there!" I heard the green ninja yell as he shot a missile at Garmadon. "You and Earth get the civilians away."

The fire ninja followed his gaze and his eyes widened when he saw us.

I met his gaze and scowled. "Don't just stand there!" I yelled, desperately trying to lift the roof as Garmadon threw a piece of wall at us.

I ducked and shelter my body over Leif as it skimmed us.

The fire ninja dashed over in his mech. Placing the mech's arm under it and heaving it upwards, Leif yelped as the mech strained under the weight before he met it gently down.

"What's going on?" I stared wildly at him.

Fire's eyes flicked to me. "I can't get it up, it's to heavy and there could be doe, electrical that is near the kid."

"What do we do?" I rubbed circled in Leif's palm. "What are you saying?"

"I need to get someone else to help, maybe Green to try and help." He said calmly. "Can you please step away into a safe area?"

"I'm not leaving him!" I said stubbornly.

"I'll make sure he doesn't get hurt! I just need you to get somewhere safe."

I glared at the ninja. "You can't guarantee that you can keep him safe."

He avoided my gaze. "I'm staying." I said stubbornly.

His eyes suddenly moved to the battle. The green ninja swerved his dragon mech as Garmadon swung at him.

"Stop moving green ninja!" He snapped.

"Green, you need to get a clear shot. If he hits you-" Fire said into his communicator.

"I know!" Greenie yelled. "Lightning I need you to give me a distraction!"

"I don't think that's a good idea!" I winced as I heard the scream from the tech in Fire's ear.

"I'll try to torch him up." Fire told greenie.

  "Fire..."

"I got this. I'm the fire ninja which means I'm the hot one." I could imagine his smirk under the mask. "And Garmadon needs a little warm up."

   "Just do it!"

Fire lit up his torches and jumped forward, igniting the flame and sweeping it through the air towards Garmadon.

Gamadon yelled out and whined to his generals as the fire almost set his helmet on fire.

"Two against one? That not fair!" He complained.

Greenie dove in. His hand hovering over the button vetoed he smashed it down. The missiles flew and swirled through the air, hitting their mark and exploding the mech. Garmadon  leaped from it just in time.

The villain gaped at the destruction. "I can't believe you did that!" He whined. "I'll get you back green ninja! That was my favourite mech!" He swiftly shoved a general out of his little mech and directed it back to his volcano.

"See ya!" He cackled loudly as his generals followed him out. The green ninja watched them go. His eyes narrowed.

"Green, I need some help!" Fire moved back next to us and exited the mech.

"Right." He landed the dragon and hopped down. "What's the deal."

Fire motioned to where Leif was sniffling with his head on my lap.

The green ninja surveyed the situation before nodding. "Okay, this piece of the roof looks like the top layer where some of the water pipes are, I don't think there's any electrical we need to worry about."

"I just need to get my dragon mech to pick the roof piece up and then you and the girl can get the kid out." Green rubbed his hands together before mounting the dragon.

"Green ninja is just going to get this thing off of you, okay Leif?" I reassured him. "I just need to step away for a second."

He nodded and hiccuped but let go of my hand.

Green nodded to fire and me and we stepped back as he flew his dragon in. He directed the claws to drip the sides and he gently flew up the roof groaned but stayed in tact as the pressure released from Leif's leg. He cried out in joy as Fire and I dashed forward to get him out.

I scooped him up and pulled him out as the green ninja placed the roof to the side.

"Fire, check his vitals. Get an ambulance out here." The green ninja ordered.

He nodded and took out a small device and pressed the button before crouching by Leif. He did simple things like check his pulse and his breathing.

"Are you in any pain?" Fire asked.

Leif just stared at him. "Leif, do you feel any boo boos?" I whispered softly.

He nodded and pointed at his leg.

"How much? One or five?" He held up a five.

"I think it's broken." Fire announced after he tentatively ran a hand over the leg.

"Okay." I pressed my forehead to Leif's as he blinked tiredly. Tears streaming down his cheeks. "It'll be okay."

Suddenly I remembered. "Kai." I breathed. "Oh, God kai." I whispered.

  "What?" Fire asked in alarm.

"I frick'n ditched him like a monster." I took out my phone as the ambulance came. "I'll be going with him." I told the paramedics.

"It'll be okay sweetie." I told Leif as he yelled out in alarm.

  I dialled Kai's number anxiously.

"Well I gotta go." Fire said suddenly.

I nodded and waved him off.

Then I paused. "Wait."

  He stopped.

I gave him a rare smile. My hair a mess, covered in grime. "Thank you."
