18 - Feeling Giddy?
Reason Why I Hate Kai #18 : He's weird
I woke up with a start. My brow furrowing at the dead weight on my chest. I shifted when I realized it was Cecilia. I smiled a little at that. To be perfectly honest....it felt great to have friends again. There were times where I pushed myself to sit beside my old friends but they usually acted awkward and unwelcoming. It's horrible to be in a place that doesn't feel like you belong.
I was so busy thinking I almost missed the not-so quiet shape of Kai sneaking along over the bodies on the air ground.
Feeling curious I gently moved Cecilia who groaned and mumbled in her sleep before quickly getting changed. When I was finally semi-ready I could see Kai fading down the street. Scrambling now, I ran as fast as I could after him.
"Why are you following me?" A red clad figure asked as I stumbled to a stop.
"I was wondering what a questionably hired ninja was doing." I replied, straightening.
Kai scowled. At least I think he was, his eyes were squinting but with his mask I didn't know for sure if he was super happy or giving me one of those childish pouts.
"I'm going on patrol, making sure no ones being mugged and all that." He balanced easily on the edge of a window sill, apparently parkour was no problem for him the stinky show-off.
My brows furrowed at the mention of his secret routine. "Don't do anything stupid." I said in a easy tone when really the fear was gnawing at my insides.
The red favourite seemed to lift around where his cheekbones were supposed to be. Rats. "Got it, best friend." He said with a wink.
I gave him a large eye roll before chucking him the phone he had left with a million texts from someone called Master Annoying.
"Mr. Annoying is pretty annoyed at you so you should probably get going." I said with a smirk as he fumbled with the device as it rung with a start.
He placed it to his ear but sighed. "Sensei, you have your thumb over the mic I can't hear you." Kai grumbled. "Yeah..." He placed his hand on his hip as he hung one handed from the roof. He glanced at me then away. "Yeah...."
I tapped my foot impatiently as he continued to yeah whoever this guy was before he sputtered for a second and gave a bunch of indignant gibberish before the person on the other end hung up.
Cursing whoever this dude I already loved was he shoved the electronic inside his gi and began to swing up. "I gotta go Isla."
"Sweet, I'll join you." I said like it was nothing. He frowned.
"No." He said firmly.
"Where's your mech thing then? Isn't it at some garage?" He kept quiet.
"Maybe."
"And do you need a car to get there?"
"I mean...it would be suggested."
"And do you need someone to drive it back?"
"Maybe."
"Great!" I took out his keys and swung them as I bounced to where I had left his car. "Let's go!"
Kai mumbled something indecipherable, which is lucky for him because if it was offensive I would've beat him up. I got into the drivers seat and waited for him to yank off his mask and sit down before starting it up.
"The last time you drove you were swerving around like a maniac." Kai reminded me as I went down the road.
"Last time Garmadon was attacking the city and there were generals, cars, and ruins everywhere." I retorted. "I'm a good driver."
He snorted. "Please, your driving sucks I was just feeling pity the first time you drove us." I flicked the turn signal as I cruised along.
Kai gasped. "I am a great driver!"
"That's funny!"
"Is not!"
"Is too!"
"Is not!"
"Is too!"
"Is not- oh we're here." Kai undid his seatbelt and grabbed his mask.
I backed up and turned around so I could see him better before rolling down the window and propping my elbow on the door.
"Have fun at school sweetie!" I teased as he started trekking. He turned around.
"Haha." Kai shouted back dryly.
He was about to go inside and I turned back to the wheel about to hit the gas when he suddenly appeared beside me, head leaned in. I screamed a little and gave him a good death glare but he seemed to giddy to notice.
"Uh, I was wondering if after patrol was done if you would like to hang out." Kai said.
I gave him an odd look but nodded. "Whatever loser."
He gave a wild grin before bouncing off. Rolling my eyes I pressed down on the gas and began to drive back.

I was saying thank you to Nya and giving everyone good bye nods instead of hugs because they're over rated.
"Ready?" Kai burst through the window and quickly ran to go get changed.
"Wait, what?" Nya asked.
I sighed. "Kai wants to hang out." I quickly texted Pops to let him know what I'm doing.
"Ah..." Nya had an odd knowing look. I squinted at her suspiciously but then Kai was suddenly there, hair wild from whatever he did. He them proceeded to grab me by the arm, to which I stamped on his foot, and then dropped my arm before running down the stairs.
Giving a shrug I waved goodbye before following the over excited boy down the stairs.
