Chapter 43 - The saviour

Alexis' POV

She bit her lower lip without breaking our eye contact. Then she cleared her throat, ruffling her hair.

"Did you have any doubts?!" She asked arrogantly and walked towards the door without waiting for me to say anything. "See you at home." She added without turning back, waving her hand, and left the room.

I burst out laughing and shook my head.

This woman...

After taking a shower, I put on gray sweatpants and a white shirt and went to the living room.

When I walked into the room, I heard Charlotte talking on the phone with a low voice. Her back was turned towards me; so she didn't notice me.

I clenched my fist as I heard that old businessman's name.

"Mr. Qadir, my schedule is busy... Yes, I understand, but... I will think... Bye." She heaved a loud sigh as she hung up the phone.

"Does he keep bothering you?" I asked between gritted teeth and approached her.

"Alex..." She mumbled nervously.

"Why didn't you tell me?" I asked angrily.

She sighed and replied. "Because I knew you would get mad. Don't worry. I will handle it."

"You will not handle anything alone. Leave it to me. I know how to deal with this kind of man." I stated firmly and went to my study room without waiting for her to say anything.

"Alex!" She shouted behind me, but I ignored her and walked into my study room, slamming the door behind me.

I grabbed my phone and called Omar while starting pacing back and forth.

"I need your help." I stated firmly as soon as he picked up the phone.

As soon as I finished talking to Omar on the phone in my office, I called my assistant quickly. After hearing what Omar told me about Mahmud, I felt worried about Charlotte; there was a bad feeling in my heart. My friend informed me that that man was involved in drug dealing, human trafficking, gambling and so on. Moreover, he was sued by some model two months ago; he tried to force himself on her while she worked in a campaign for his clothing brand. However, she couldn't prove anything, and he didn't pay for what he did.

A few minutes later, someone knocked on the door and opened it.

"Yes, sir?" My assistant said after closing the door behind her.

"Cancel my meeting with Mrs. Lawrence and ask Charlotte to come to my office." I ordered firmly and gave her the file I had recently signed.

"I will cancel. And Ms. Wright isn't here." She said, grabbing the file.

"Where did she go?" I asked, worried, raising my eyebrow.

"She didn't say anything to her assistant. I needed her signature for the documents: so I called her assistant, and she informed me about it."

I clenched my fist and grabbed my phone. When I called Charlotte, her phone was turned off.

Damn it!

Please don't go to meet that bastard, Charlotte!

"Did she have any meetings outside? Photoshoot or anything else?" I asked Nancy anxiously.

"No, sir. Umm... But I heard her talking on the phone and planning to meet up with someone." She informed me uneasily.

"Who?"

"I don't remember. It was an unusual name. Probably, Arabian." She replied, rubbing her forehead.

"Mahmud Qadir?" I said as my heart started pounding in panic.

"Yes. I heard her calling him Mr. Qadir." Nancy nodded.

"Shit!" I cursed under my breath and grabbed my phone instantly.

I called my bodyguard, Chris, and stormed out of my office after grabbing my keys. As soon as he picked up the phone, I asked him to find where Charlotte was now.

I was driving my car when Chris sent me Charlotte's location. I frowned, rubbing my forehead as I saw she was in Nathan's hotel.

Is she meeting up with Nathan? But Nancy told me she was going to meet up with that old bastard.

Oh...

Fuck! That old bastard asked to meet up in the hotel.

If he tries to do something bad to Charlotte, I will kill him with my bare hands.

Once I parked my car in front of the hotel, I got out of the car quickly and rushed into the building.

I frowned as I saw Nathan tapping something on his phone in the lobby. So she wasn't with Nathan.

"Did you see Charlotte?" I asked him anxiously as I approached him.

He looked at me, confused and replied, placing his phone into his pocket. "No. What happened?"

I cursed under my breath and ran my hand through my hair, looking around.

"Did something happen to Lottie?" Nathan asked, worried.

I took a deep breath and said firmly. "I need your help." He raised his eyebrow, giving me a questioning look. I sighed and explained everything to him quickly.

"Come with me." He said firmly and walked towards the reception.

As soon as we reached the receptionist, he asked her if she saw Charlotte.

Terror sealed my throat as she informed us that Charlotte fainted at the restaurant about ten minutes ago, and Mr. Qadir carried her to his suite, informing that he called the doctor himself for Charlotte.

"Which room?" Nathan asked in a bossy tone as his face paled.

As soon as she told us the room number, and Nathan got the spare key of the suite, we rushed towards the elevator.

Once we reached the suite, Nathan opened the door with the spare key and we walked in. There was no one in the living room. So I rushed towards the bedroom.

My blood boiled with rage when I saw the old bastard unbuttoning Charlotte's shirt. Meanwhile, she was lying on the bed, unconscious.

"You fucking bastard!" I exclaimed furiously as I rushed towards him and grabbed his collars, dragging him away from Charlotte.

"Lottie!" Nathan said in fear and rushed towards her as he walked in and saw us.

"Take her out of here, Nathan." I ordered him while he was trying to wake her up in panic. He nodded and scooped her up quickly while I was holding the old bastard by his collars.

Once Nathan carried Charlotte out of the room, I punched the old prick. He lost his balance and fell down, his nose and lips were bleeding. I leaned towards him and grabbed his collar.

"You will pay for trying to touch my fiancée." I stated in rage and punched him again and again.

Charlotte's POV

I frowned in annoyance as Mahmud Qadir called me again when I was about to go to my office. He started getting on my nerves. How many times should I tell him I didn't have time for his campaign?! On the other hand, I was afraid of Alex's reaction when he found out that this man kept bothering me.

I heaved a loud sigh and picked up the phone. He started insisting that I accepted to be part of his campaign. As I refused his proposal again, he asked me to discuss it over dinner. I accepted as he kept insisting. It would be better if we talked about it, and I had to make him give up before Alexis did something bad to him, getting himself in trouble.

He invited me to have dinner at the restaurant in Nathan's hotel where he was staying.

When I arrived at the destination, my phone rang. I pulled my phone out of my bag and looked at the screen; it was Sienna. I picked up the phone while walking towards the hotel.

After greeting each other, she asked me if I was free this Saturday night to hang out with Rose and her. When I wanted to respond, my battery died.

Shit!

I sighed, annoyed and threw my phone into my bag.

When I walked into the restaurant, Mr. Qadir greeted me politely. After ordering my meal, I excused myself and went to the restroom.

He gave me a wide smile as I went back to the restaurant. I smiled slightly and sat down on the chair.

"Well..." I said after taking a few sips from my mango juice. "As I said on the phone, I can't accept..."

"Let's talk about it later. Before I want to give you information about my mall project, then I am sure you will change your mind and make time for the campaign." He cut me off, smiling. "And I promise if you don't change your mind after it, I will not insist anymore." I sighed and nodded, sipping my juice.

I leaned my cheek against my hand as I felt dizzy while Mr. Qadir was informing me about the campaign.

"Are you fine, Ms. Wright? You look pale." He asked, giving me his signature smile as he rested his hand on top of my hand on the table.

"I... It will be better if I splash some water on my face." I mumbled, pulling my hand away, and wanted to stand up, but suddenly, my vision darkened.

***

When I opened my eyes slowly, grimacing, I saw Nathan sitting beside me on the bed, caressing my cheek, calling my name.

"What happened? Why am I in your suite?" I asked, confused as I sat up on the bed when I noticed where we were.
