Chapter 41 - Jealousy

Charlotte's POV

"You haven't changed at all." I commented, giving him a knowing look.

"Glad to know I didn't lose my charm." He said arrogantly. "By the way, you are stunning as always." He added huskily, grabbing my hand, and rested a soft kiss on my knuckles.

"You are a smooth talker." I winked at him playfully. He chuckled. "Where have you disappeared? I didn't see you at Anne's birthday party." I asked, intrigued.

"I was busy." He replied, placing his hand in his pocket.

I raised my eyebrow. "Hmm." I gave him a sly look.

"Nothing like that." He shook his head, smirking.

"I don't think so." I grinned devilishly.

He chuckled, amused. "Maybe slightly." He confessed, gestured to it using his index finger and thumb, and gave me his signature grin.

I burst out laughing and shook my head. "By the way, I heard Jayden is getting engaged. Congratulations! When will the engagement be?" I asked, giving him a warm smile.

Jayden was his twin brother. Despite the fact they were identical twins, their characters were totally opposite. Jayden was calm, serious and disciplined, nothing like Kayden.

"Yeah. Thank you." He mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck uneasily as his expression changed. "They haven't decided yet." He added with a serious expression.

"Wishing them happiness. I saw them a few months ago at the café; they looked so cute together and madly in love." I commented softly.

He gulped as his face paled. "Oh...yeah." He mumbled, rubbing the back of his neck. I gave him a confused look; he looked strange and his mood changed as soon as I mentioned Jayden and his fiancée. "I am sorry, but I have to do some chit-chat with boring guys." He rolled his eyes in annoyance.

"Good luck." I winked at him playfully.

"Thanks. See you later." He placed a soft kiss on my cheek and walked away.

"You bump into your fans wherever you go." Alexis scowled as he approached me.

"Don't talk nonsense. We are just friends." I rolled my eyes.

"You looked too close to be just friends." He commented between gritted teeth.

I sighed, bored. "We are. Yes, we went on dates a few times, then we decided to stay friends." I confessed honestly.

He gave me a mocking smirk despite the fact, his gaze was so intimidating and his muscles were tense.

"Come on, Alex. There is nothing to be jealous of." I assured him.

"I am not." He denied angrily.

"I even introduced his ex-girlfriend to him." I resumed, ignoring his denial. I knew him very well not to believe that he wasn't jealous.

"Fine, it is so reassuring. Especially because it is his ex." He commented sarcastically.

"Dear, if he is a womanizer, it isn't my problem." I commented dryly.

He heaved a loud sigh, rolling his eyes. "Yes, I forgot for a moment who is your golden boy." He declared in a sardonic tone and looked towards the entrance.

I furrowed my eyebrows and looked at where he was looking. Nathan was standing there while Romeo approached him cheerfully.

"Alex!" I sighed, exasperated by Alex's behavior. Before Kayden, now Nathan. "I will leave you alone, letting you be consumed by your jealousy. And don't worry; I don't rush towards my ex. I am going to talk to Sienna." I added dryly and walked towards my friend without letting him say anything.

"What happened?" Sienna asked as I approached her.

"Alex made me mad again." I rolled my eyes.

"What did he do?" She gave me a questioning look and gave me a mischievous grin.

I sighed and started explaining. Her grin widened more and more with every word, but I ignored it.

"If he annoys you this much, end it." She said, shrugging her shoulders, and gave me a sly look.

"I can't, he helps me with my blue-eyed problem." I sighed and pointed to Nathan with a head gesture.

"Maybe you should start hanging out with guys who have different eye colors." She gave me a mischievous grin.

"What can I do? I am addicted to blue eyes." I commented smugly and winked at her.

She burst out laughing. "Good luck then! But be careful that your Greek god doesn't become your problem too." She gave me a devilish look and smirked cunningly.

"Don't..."

"Would you like to dance with me?" Alexis interrupted me, extending his hand towards me.

"I don't..." Without letting me finish my sentence, he grabbed my hand and dragged me towards the dance floor.

"What are you doing?" I hissed, frustrated, trying to pull my hand away, but he didn't let me, tightening his grip, and pulled me towards his chest harshly, making me bump into him. "Alex!" I gave him a death glare.

"Calm down, koukla mou. Everyone is watching you, including your golden boy." He commented bitterly.

I gritted my teeth. "Will you keep reminding me about Nathan?" I asked sarcastically.

"Yes." He replied nonchalantly. I rolled my eyes and sighed, looking away while dancing with my annoying fake fiancé.

After dancing for a while, he grabbed my chin and lifted it up, forcing me to look at him.

"I hate when you avert your gaze and ignore me." He confessed sadly.

I bit my lower lip, looking into his eyes, and asked curiously, raising my eyebrow."Why does it matter to you?"

"Umm... Because you are my best friend. I don't want you to be angry at me."

I gave him a mocking grin. "Then don't make me mad." I warned him dryly.

He chuckled. "OK. I promise I will try."

"Will you be successful at it?" I asked, unconvinced and raised my eyebrow.

"Maybe." He gave me a sheepish grin. "At least, I will try. Isn't that something?" He added mischievously.

I sighed, rolling my eyes, and turned around to walk away, taking advantage of his distraction.

He wrapped his arms around my waist from behind and pulled me back quickly. Then Alex leaned towards my ear while pressing me against his body. "I promise, Charlotte. I would do everything for you." He said in my ear huskily.

I gulped and nodded, trying to ignore my pounding heart. He leaned his cheek against mine, closing his eyes, still hugging me from behind while we were standing in the middle of the dance floor.

"Alex..." I mumbled nervously, closing my eyes, resting my hands on top of his hands on my stomach.

"Charlotte..." He whispered in my ear hoarsely.

Suddenly, I felt his phone vibrating against my lower back, bursting our bubble. When I wanted to pull away, he tightened his grip around my waist without letting me go. I gulped nervously as I felt his excitement pressing against me. I squeezed my legs together as I felt sweet tingling between them while being drunk in his musky scent.

"Your phone..." I mumbled, troubled.

He sighed, annoyed and released me slowly. Then he pulled his phone out of his pocket while I looked at him, biting my lower lip, still feeling his warmth against my body. He frowned as he looked at his phone.

"Excuse me, I have to pick it up." He said, giving me an apologetic look. I nodded, dazed without stopping thinking about what happened between us a few minutes ago.

When I wanted to walk away, he grabbed my wrist and pulled me towards him. I looked at him, puzzled.

"Nathan is a fool for not appreciating you. He is lucky to be loved by you." He commented sadly, looking into my eyes, and released my wrist.

I looked at him, surprised. "Thank you." I gave him a shy smile as I felt my cheeks blushed.

He walked away, picking up his phone after giving me a mysterious look.

Alexis' POV

When I was about to leave my office to go to a meeting with Charlotte, my phone rang. I pulled it out of my pocket and looked at it; I frowned in annoyance as I saw it was Rebecca.

"Yes?"

"Hi, babe. How are you?" She said seductively.

"Fine. What do you want?" I asked dryly.

She sighed. "I missed you. When will we meet up?" She asked sadly.

"Rebecca, we talked about it." I reminded her firmly and frowned, annoyed.

"Please, Alex. Let's meet in my place. No one will know." She insisted.

"No, Rebecca. Please don't insist. We will not see each other till the agreement ends." I stated, determined.

"When will it end?" She asked in annoyance.

"I don't know yet. When I manage to convince my grandfather to give me my inheritance." I replied, running my hand through my hair.

"If you can't convince him... Will you marry her then?" She asked mockingly.

"Rebecca! Don't start again." I warned her, annoyed.

"But..."

"I have to hang up. I have an important meeting. Bye ." I said dryly and hung up the phone without letting her say anything.

***

I parked my car in front of Nathan's hotel and got out of the car; Charlotte and I had a dinner meeting in the restaurant here. I was sure she arranged this meeting place because of him.
