Shoppings Easier Than It Seemed
RECAP of last chapter
"How dumb can you get girl. He told you that he's taking you out somewhere and how he wants you to dress- it's a date!" By now she was yelling like a mad woman.
"Whatever", I groaned, covering my ears.
"Ok so I got to get to my date with Mathew but tomorrow night at 6pm come over, I'll help you get ready."
What is it with people scheduling things with me last minute? First Reece now Sally.
Ugh why me
_________
Naomi POV
Today was the day I was supposed to be going out with Reece.
That was the first thought that entered my mind when I woke up this morning.
I shouldn't even be worrying this much over it and I don't know why I am.
You're worrying because you are a worrywart.
Shut up conscience.
Letting out a long sigh, I forced myself to get out of my warm, cozy bed and made my way groggily to my bathroom, getting ready for the day.
It was Sunday. I didn't know whether I should feel happy and excited or sad and grumpy.
Happy that it was the weekend which means no school, or sad that the weekend was nearing to an end which means that school is right around the corner- tomorrow.
After I had brushed my teeth and splashed my face with cold water, I felt refreshed and much more awake.
Making my way back into my room I walked directly to my wardrobe, in search watch for what to wear.
I decided on some ripped blue skinny jeans and a lose grey crop top that read it's brand 'Stussy'.
I moved onto makeup. I kept it light and simple as I was only going to the mall. Some mascara, eyeliner, highlight and lipstick was all that was needed. I tied my wavy brow hair into a messy bun, pulled on my black converse and stuffed my phone, keys and sunglasses into my Gucci purse.
Entering the kitchen I saw that Brett (my mothers boyfriend ) was sitting on the table reading the newspaper while my mum made pancakes.
Brett, my mum and I have gotten quite close lately and he usually came over to spend the day on weekends and some weeknights.
"Morning my lovelies!" I said walking into the kitchen, giving them each a quick peck on the cheek.
Brett lowered the newspaper he was reading and raised one eyebrow at me. "Ok Nae what is it you want?"
Brett was the father figure in my life now and like my mum, he could read me like an open book.
I put one hand on my chest, feigning hurt, "Why would you possibly think I want something."
"Come on now, kissing us on the cheek? Calling us 'lovelies'? You must want something", my mum said, flipping a pancake with the pan.
Oh that was cool, how'd she do that? And mhm pancakes!
"Or maybe I'm just a nice daughter", I muttered.
Mum laughed. "So you actually didn't want anything?"
"Well", I let out a nervous chuckle, "I didn't exactly say-"
This earned a loud laugh from them and I shot them both a sheepish smile.
"So I'll ask again, what is it you want?" Brett asked.
"I was wondering if I could borrow $50", I said.
A 17 year old asking their adults for money, embarrassing I know.
Brett gave me a confused look. "$50? What for?"
"Well I'm going to go shopping and I have $100 dollars with me but I don't know if that'll be enough", I explained.
By now my mum had finished cooking and placed in front of me were mouthwatering pancakes. I attacked my plate with my fork and in seconds I had engulfed the delicious breakfast into my stomach.
Wiping her hand on a towel she said, "$150 dollars to buy some clothes? What are you shopping for, a new wardrobe?"
I hesitated which didn't go unnoticed. "For a date."
"What?!" My mums and Brett exclaimed in sync, "A date with who?"
"Reece Chase- and uh- its not really a date, he just said he's taking me out."
"Reece Chase as in my best friends son that came for dinner the other day?" Brett questioned while mum rolled her eyes and said, "How naive can you get Nae, if he's taking you out it's a date."
"Yes that's him and ok let's stop talking about this", I said, "So can I borrow $50? Pretty please?"
Brett pulled out 2 $20 and 1 $10 notes from his wallet and handed it to me. "Don't worry about paying me back. I want you to spend this and get whatever you want for your date."
I grinned. "Thanks dad! Your the best."
He looked a bit surprised that I had called him 'dad' but recovered quickly.
Well he pretty much was the father figure in my life now so why not.
"You're alright Nae. Oh and remember if Reece does anything to hurt you I will hurt him myself, even though he's my bestfriends son", Brett threatened with a serious look on his face.
"Yep I'll keep that in mind", I chuckled, "Thanks again."
Brett smiled and I walked towards the front door eager to shopping.
I loved shopping and even if it is for Reece's 'date', I'm still excited.
"Bye darling, take care", I heard my mum call.
"I will, cya!"
___
The atmosphere in the mall was buzzing with noise and excitement.
Teenagers were discussing what store to visit next and the hottest trends, adults were shopping for clothes for their children, kids were nagging for their parents to buy them ice cream even though they had just eaten one and couples were holding hands everywhere you go.
I thought back to what Reece had told me. 'Dress fancy.'
I spotted a fancy looking store that had a variety of dresses and fancy clothes and decided to check it out.
Entering the store, I started searching through the racks of beautiful dresses until I found the perfect one.
35minutes later
Nope too frilly.
Way too revealing.
Too old.
Too young.
Too big.
Too small.
Too complicated.
Too flowery.
Too plain.
I guess Sally was right when she said I was too picky.
"Ughhh!" I grounded in frustration.
Am I ever going to find the perfect one?
A deep chuckle sounded from behind me making me turnaround.
Standing there was a handsome store assistant around my age. Everything about him looked familiar: his ocean blue eyes, wavy blonde hair and tanned skin.
"Naomi?"
Even his voice seemed familiar. I had met him before, I was sure of it. Then it came to me.
I had seen him before! He was the guy I talked to at the beach not long ago.
"Josh!"
"Oh finally, I thought you had forgotten me already", he joked
"I thought you had forgotten me. You work here?" I asked smiling.
"Well yeah my mum owns this store and I have to help her because apparently "I have a good sense of fashion and I'm really lazy"", josh explained and rolled his eyes, mimicking his mothers words.
I laughed. "I'm guessing she's focusing more on the later."
He let out a loud chuckle, "Yeah me too. Oh and Naomi?"
"Yeah?"
He threw me a smirk- which was pretty hot I might add.
Ok I don't like him! I'm serious. But he is pretty hot. Not as hot as Reece Chase but still hot.
Why are you thinking about Reece right now?
Because you like him.
No I don't!
Yes you do.
No I don't.
Yes-
I hate you conscience. Now leave. Bye.
"You said that you thought i had forgotten you? That's impossible because one can never forgot someone as beautiful as you."
Letting my mind register what josh had just said, I felt my cheeks heat up and turn crimson.
"You're such a lady pleaser josh", I chuckled, shoving him playfully.
He grinned. "I try. Now what do you need help with? You seemed pretty frustrated seconds ago."
"Oh yeah I couldn't find a dress I liked", I said glancing at josh hoping he wouldn't find my words too harsh and was glad when I found him nodding along understandingly.
"Could you help me find something fancy that I would look good in for a date?"
"Sure I'm sure I can find plenty if dresses that would look gorgeou- woah hold up. A date?"
"Yeah with Reece", I sighed.
"Isn't that the guy seemed jealous at the beach?" Josh asked furrowing his eyebrows, trying to remember.
"Yeah that's him", I confirmed, "And to be honest, he just said he's taking me out somewhere, it might not be a date."
Josh gave me a are-you-serious look that was identical to the one Sally gave me yesterday.
"Naomi. If a guy says to a chick that he's taking her out somewhere, it means it is 100% a date."
"You're the third person to say that", I pointed out, "the 2nd one to say that today actually."
"Well then you should listen."
"Fine. It's a date. Now can you help me?" I replied, rolling my eyes.
He shot me a smile. "Sure follow me."
___
"Oh my god, I love it so much! It's stunning", I squealed loudly whilst hugging a laughing josh.
After a few minutes of searching through racks, josh had held out a breath-taking dress that was made out of silk.
The dress was a pure white and stopped just above the knees. The tight material hugged my body, outlining my curves and showing off my figure.
I already loved the dress when I had set eyes on it but what made me love it more was the fact it was strapless and had pretty nude colored patterns outlining the sweetheart neckline.
"This is the most stunning dress I have ever seen", I told josh honestly, "This is exactly what I looking for."
"I'm glad you love it", he grinned. "I'm sure that my mum can find you shoes that would go with the dress, follow me."
This is great! Now I don't need to go shopping for the right shoes.
I followed closely behind as he carefully dodged costumers and made his way to the back of the store where a lady was fixing shoes that had been misplaced.
Josh stopped in front of her. "Hey mum this is Naomi."
The lady turned around and faced us with a warm smile, "Hi Naomi, I'm Kris Josh's mother."
She supported the same ocean blue eyes and dirty blonde hair as josh. Kris looked beautiful, she was tall and had tanned flawless skin.
She looks much younger than her age.
I returned an equally warm smile. "It's nice to meet you Kris", I stuck out my hand for a handshake but she pulled me into a embrace. Getting over my surprise I hugged her back, smiling.
"She's trying to find shoes that would match with this", Josh told his mum, showing her the dress that was in his hands.
Kris's eyes filled with excitement. "I know just the one."
She walked towards a shelf full of fancy looking heels and skimmed through them searching for the one she wanted. Minutes later she came back with a huge grin plastered on her face.
"Here", she handed me a pair of the prettiest nude platforms I had seen, "What do you think?"
A smile found its way onto my lips. "Their perfect. Thanks so much."
"My pleasure hun", Kris replied shooting me a huge smile then checked her watch, "Well we're closing early today so I've got to get back to work."
"Sure I was just about to leave. Thanks Kris, thanks again josh", I gave them both a tight hug.
"Enjoy your date, you look stunning", he whispered in my ear. I don't know you that well Naw but tell Reece that if hurts you, he will have me to answer to."
"Aw you're the best josh, I'll keep that in mind. Well I'll talk to you's again soon."
I have josh another hug and walked out the store.
Hmm shoppings easier than it seemed.
