It was a question Esfir Kirigan asked many a times. Here she stood, heir to a legacy of lies and war. Grisha. Zowa. Drüsje. Darkling. Here she stood, seventeen, soldier, weapon, actor.

So when her father says befriend the sun summoner for the good of Grisha, she befriends the sun summoner for the good of Grisha. When he says control the sun summoner for the good of Grisha, she controls the sun summoner for the good of Grisha.

Or tries to.

Because General Kirigan isn't the only one with plans for their precious sun summoner. From criminals across the sea, to the Grisha of the Little Palace, to...well, one Alina Starkov herself.

RULES

I — Post Tenebras

Surprise, surprise, it's a re-working of Post Tenebras. Another one of my apply fics. Because of this, there's some thing I'd like to address.

Those who where accepted into Post Tenebras can apply with their applications again. I can't guarantee you will for sure, 100% get in. I might find others just...fit the new story better? Nor to you have to. But since the point is to re-tool the story to something I can properly write, it seems unfair to not allow a chance to see the characters again.

I mean, obviously Esfir is a version of Varya with her name changed because one of the other characters had a very similar name, and Konstantin is being used as well. So clearly I'm not doing much to hide that connection.

II — Applications

The basics. Fill out the form. Comment it on the "apply here" line. Try to keep everything in the same comment chain. Something I often see is people commenting their application's name, then replying to that with the form, which is really useful for organization.

I will be accepting 5-6 characters. Maybe 7 if I'm terribly indecisive. Giving a range because I can't confirm exactly how they will fit with each other and canon characters.

III — The Grishaverse

For those who haven't noticed, this is based off the Shadow & Bone tv show. With some info from the rest of the series. I would suggest at least doing some research before applying. I'll answer questions, but obviously I'm going to expect your character to fit the world.

IV —  Diversity

Please! The Grishaverse universe is very wide and diverse. I've made this easy on you. No faceclaims. Just appearances. So things like gender, race, body shape and build, etc, shouldn't be limited by the faceclaims you can find.

But I'm not just talking about that sort of thing. I also mean in backstory, personality, and abilities. Something I enjoy writing is character exploration. That's less interesting when everyone is exactly the same.

V — Plots

I will be using some characters in the Crows plot line. However, I plan to limit that to 2-3 of the characters, because it's not a plot that works well with a lot of people.

The rest will be scattered throughout the Shadow & Bone plot, with some plotting of their own.

VI — Love Interests

I have...reluctantly decided to use love interests. Canon characters or applications. However I cannot promise that it will work out. Especially not instantly.

And more important, if I get any Wonder Bread Inejs with Kaz as the love interest, you're disowned. I will disown you. That is a promise.

Esfir Kirigan — The Shadow Summoner

It seems that, at age seventeen, Esfir has decided she is as much a leader as her father is. Despite the fact she is the opposite of a people person. She's trying of course. Trying. Spending most of your time with your father and his inner circle doesn't exactly teach your charisma. Instead it makes you close off, prickly, and over all anti-social. At her heart, however, Esfir is a painfully awkward child pretending she knows what she's doing.

One of the Little Place's most recent recruits. Impressively, despite all evidence to the contrary, has some how managed to go sixteen years in complete denial of being Grisha. Still convinced they got that one wrong. If it weren't for that he'd make a pretty good soldier. Straight forward, reluctant to share his thoughts, and definitely more of a follower than a leader. Ignore the exasperated expression. No, he's not glaring at you.
