Hunting The Hunter

As I (kinda) promised, here is a chapter of a story, which is dedicated to someone who replied to my tag. I still have heaps more draft stories that I might post a chapter of when I run out of chapters for this story. But the only reason I have chosen to post these certain chapters at this certain time is because of people who have replied, like Minamoto2Nikki.

So, this is to another person, ILiterallyCantDecide , who's also being awesome! Yay!

Ily, mwah.

"Bren. I can't find him. Anywhere. Aaaaannnyyyyywherrrre." I moan to Brenda as we walk into the cafeteria to buy some lunch.

"Julie." Brenda says slowly. "Calm down your anywheres and think. Next period you have English, correct?"

I nod slowly. She only says Julie slowly when she thinks I'm being stupid. "Yes."

"You still don't get it, do you?"

I give her a confused look.

"He. Is. In. Your. English. Class." She raises her eyebrows at me.

"Ohh." I smile. "Right."

Brenda chuckles and shakes her head.

We both grab a tray and each put on a chicken and lettuce sandwich, a red apple, and a flavoured milk. Strawberry for me and chocolate for her.

We walk over to our usual table where our, well, not really friends, because they're just for show, but our posse sits, already chatting about random topics.

"Hey, girls." I flash them a smile and Karrin immediately smiles and waves, alerting the others even more to my presence.

I sit down, and Brenda slides into the seat across from me, both of us in the middle area of the table, two girls on either side of us.

I turn to my right. "So, Karrin, what's the goss?"

She smiles, almost seeming proud that I'm talking to her so soon - she's the newest member of our group - and gestures to the, well, Jock's table.

"Damen started going out with Lisa here," she gestures to the brunette on my left, "and Ray, my boyfriend, who's on the football team, got promoted in a way. He's a quarterback now!"

"Nice. Any surprise new students?"

"Yes! But she's a girl, not a guy."

"Hm. Never would of guessed unless you added that she wasn't a guy."

"Oh, Julie, you're so funny." Karrin laughs and waves her hand a little bit.

"I know." I look to the corner table, where new kids always sit on their first day, waiting, hoping, to be picked by a group.

Bren and I call it the 'Clique Pick'.

I look over to Brenda and motion with my head to the new girl, my hands already on my lunch tray. "Bren. Some assistance?"

She nods and smiles. "Of course." She stands and looks down at Nakarlie. "Um, you'll have to finish telling me about, um, whoever it was you were telling me about, later."

As we walk towards the new girl, Brenda turns her head ever so slightly towards me. "Thanks. I couldn't stand hearing about God knows who doing God knows what at God knows where for a second longer."

I giggle. "You're welcome. And anyway, I know you like recruiting. We have, after all, got four more spots left at our table."

She nods enthusiastically as we slide in the seats opposite the new girl, me first.

New Girl looks up, and I take her in. I mean, if she doesn't look the part, then I can't let her sit with us, can I?

She has blond hair, just a bit lighter than mine, and green eyes, also lighter than mine. Her blond hair is short, however, while mine is down to my waist, and styled into a fashionable bob. Her skin is also lighter than mine, being quite pale. She's wearing a dark green dress, a black velvet choker, a green bracelet, large black hoop earrings and black wedges.

Her earrings send a wave of nostalgia over me. Brenda and I forgot to put ours in this morning. It's funny how alike we are.

New Girl picks up her strawberry milk - I approve - and takes a sip, while I notice her nails, while not stubby, were relatively short. Her hands seemed quite small and her fingers kind of short, just like mine, but my nails are long, thanks to the nail salon Brenda and I frequently visit.

"Name, age, birthday, and starsign, please." I smile and New Girl smiles back with white teeth, which are only slightly crooked. Mine are white and straight, due to my orthodontist.

"Whitney Herold, sixteen, the twenty eighth of November and Sagittarius."

"Good, you can keep up. Choose one; shopping, studying, or video games?"

"Shopping." Her reply is instant.

"Hmm. Are you a Priss or a Diss?"

"Pardon?"

"A Priss is what we are stereotyped as, popular, girly, hate ball games, etcetera, etcetera, and a Diss is someone who disses girls like us, maybe because they're jealous, I don't know." I pause for a second. "Don't worry though, I could still easily beat any guy in soccer."

"Well then, I'm a Priss and proud of it."

"Ding ding ding. That is the correct answer. Any history with the law? Ever committed a crime, small or big? Do you have any hot brothers? Are you loyal?"

"No history with the law, I have not committed any sort of crime in my life, I am an only child and I am extremely loyal to my friends."

"Huh. Same. About, pretty much everything." I hold my hand out, fingers stretched. "Samesies."

"Um." She holds her hand up to mine and I wiggle my fingers, and she copies. "Oh, I get it."

I smile. "I thought you would." I look at Brenda, and she nods, before asking a few questions. Several minutes later, Brenda winks at me, and I wink back, our way of saying we would be recruiting Whitney before another clique could.

I look back at Whitney and smile. "You can sit with us. I now proclaim you, an Official Priss."

She clapped. "Yay."

"I can't tell if that was sarcastic or serious."

She shrugged. "A bit of both."

"We are going to be such good friends."

We go back to our popular table and I move Lisa and whoever is sitting next to her over a seat so that Whitney can sit next to me. She seems fake at our table, but so do Brenda and I.

Whitney will be a blast, but Brenda is totally, like, my soul-BFF.

The bell goes and I look up at Brenda. She nods and I understand her instantly.

It's time for me to start playing Hunter.
