Chapter 1

CHAPTER ONE

"I heard there's a new guy in our school and he's cute, according to some who have seen him." People kept on whispering here and there.

I didn't really mind if there really was or was not. It doesn't matter anyway, the school would still be the same.

But remembering about the hormonal girls around me, then I guess it wouldn't be the same after all. New guy means another guy to squeal to and gossip about.

None of those thing matters to me though. I wasn't that kind of girl who crushes on every cute guy who walks this earth.

Then I heard murmurs in the back saying the new guy was not just cute but hot too.

I closed my book and stood up. I've had enough of this nonesense. So what if there's a new guy? So what if he's cute and hot? It doesn't affect anything in our school except the population and the hormonal girls.

With a frown glued on my face, I exited the noisy library, the librarian didn't even mind kicking out the noisy ones.

Just as I was about to take my first step down the stairs, the Principal's office door opened and revealed an unfamiliar boy wearing our school uniform.

He was not looking on his way causing him to bump on me and I went tumbling down the stairs.

Tears threatened to spill from my eyes but I held it back. Juliet is not a cry baby and Juliet is brave.

The guy stood there in shock and he ran down the stairs with an apologetic look on his face.

"I'm so sorry! I didn't see you there." He stood about six feet and I was ashamed of my five five height.

He helped me stand up and I winced when I felt pain tickle my right ankle. He saw my hurt expression and offered to escort me to the school clinic.

The nurse gave me an ice pack to press over my ankle. The damage wasn't serious though. My ankle just twisted a bit but it was okay. Xrays were not needed. Although, she said, when she was preparing the ice pack, that if the pain strikes again later, it's best to consult a doctor.

The new guy, Connor, left for class after staying with me for 30 minutes inside the clinic. I had forgotten that he was new and being late for first class wasn't a nice impression for the teachers.

I was excused for the rest of the morning since my ankle was still painful and walking was not my friend for the mean time. The school had called my mom to pick me up but she said she can't since she was at an important meeting in the office. So I ended up chilling out in the school clinic.

When lunch period came, I could barely feel the pain. I was happy I could finally walk again. I didn't want to die out of starvation.

I limped my way to the school canteen, earning unnecessary looks from a few students. It was busy as ever and filled with students from every high school grade level.

I spotted Hannah, my best friend, by the entrance. She was searching for something or someone (it was probably me).

I called her and she waved at me and gestured for me to hurry up.

I quickened my pace and I swear it was a struggle since my ankle has not healed completely yet.

"What happened to you? And why didn't you show up in English class?" She asked me as soon as we sat down on our usual table.

"The new guy bumped on me and pushed me off the stairs this morning!" I refrained from shouting too loudly.

To be honest, I was kind of pissed at him for bumping on me that caused me to stumble down the stairs. If it wasn't for him, then I would have been present to all of my morning classes.

"Was he cute? They say he's hot!" Hannah and I were never alike in terms of guys. She has many teen magazines on how to make a guy like you and posters of guys and boybands in her bedroom. Whereas, I, had a collection of books in my bedroom.

"Probably. I don't know. How do you know if a guy is cute or not?" I asked and frowned. I was never good with guys.

"It's all up to you. I think a guy is cute if he has dimples on his cheeks." Hannah sighed dreamily.

"I'm going to order lunch. I'm gonna take yours too. I pity you with your twisted ankle and all," she stood up and grabbed her purse, "be right back."

While Hannah was gone ordering our lunches, Freeya arrived together with Tommy, our very own gay friend! They were laughing about something Freeya had said.

"What are you two laughing about?" I asked as I watch them take a seat.

Freeya sat down on Hannah's seat.

"That's Hannah's seat, Free." I told her so she took a seat next to Hannah's.

"People are too busy about the new guy and they hadn't notice Romeo and her new girlfriend!" Tommy giggled and it made me deaf for a second. His giggle wrecks my eardrums.

Tommy and Freeya has always been a Romeo fanatic since 7th grade when the two had first set their eyes on him.

"We saw Romeo and Casey make out in the parking lot a while ago and man was it gross." Freeya laughed and I wondered why but I suddenly remembered Casey Miller.

"The Miller girl? Oh my gosh. Isn't she the girl who eats her own booger?" I scrunch my face in disgust as I remembered the time when I was seated next to her in health class and she was licking up her booger. Yuck.

Hannah returned, bringing two trays that contained our lunch. She handed me a tray with a bag of tuna and a yummy orange juice.

"What did I miss?" Hannah asked Tommy as she sat down but Tommy ignored her to answer my question.

"Yes, that Miller girl. Well, we all can't deny that she's hot though." Tommy said and grabbed my orange juice.

"Hey. You stealer. Give it back." I exclaimed at him and he returned my juice, laughing.

"I was playing with you. Jeez, chill woman." He said with a frown and took a bite on his cheese burger.

My gaze turned to where Romeo Canavan was sitting, in the popular's table, and saw him playing with Casey Miller's hair. Oh God, Casey doesn't know what she's doing!

Poor, poor Casey Miller.

"Hey, I almost forgot. Here. Happy birthday, Jules." Freeya threw me a pink box with a pretty white ribbon. The box weighed 0 tons. I shook the box and heard nothing. What did she give me? A feather? Jesus.

"Happy birthday!" Hannah gave me a hug and apologized for not giving me a gift.

"It's okay, Han. Our friendship is the best gift ever." I hugged her back.

Tommy didn't have a gift for me too but he promised me he'll give me a hot man for my next birthday and I quicly said, "No thanks," and we all laughed.

Lunch period came to an end and we had to throw away our left overs and head out for class.

I had math class next and I shared it with Romeo Canavan.

Before going to Mrs. Potter's room, I took a quick visit to my locker to gather up the books I needed for the afternoon classes.

Once I got all the books I needed, I shut my locker up and limped my way to Math class.

The room was, as usual, noisy when I arrived. Kids were scattered everywhere talking and minding their own businesses.

When I looked at my usual seat, I was surprised to see someone sitting in there. No, it wasn't just someone. It was freaking Romeo Canavan.

Did he not know that that was my seat?

"Hey, you're sitting on my seat." I said in a low voice that only the two of us can hear.

I didn't want anyone to know that I, Juliet Montgomery, am having a conversation with Romeo Canavan. People will think something is up with us. Especially that we have the same names with the star-crossed lovers who died for the sake of love.

"Hey, did you not hear me? You, sir, are sitting on my seat." I punctuated my sentence with a harsh poke on his right shoulder.

"Oh. It's my Juliet! How lovely to see you." He grinned and stood up.

"Whatever. Move, so I can take a seat." I kicked him on his leg and he winced in pain. Ha! Take that for trying to steal my seat.

He walked towards the back of the room and seated down on his usual seat but not before taking a quick glance on my direction.

I catch his gaze and he smirked. I shivered at his smirk and shook my head. I am never talking to Romeo Canavan again. Ever. He gives me the chills.

Mrs. Potter entered the room 5 minutes later and began lecturing.

I almost got out of Math class but Romeo Canavan stopped me by the door just before my right foot touched the hallway floor.

"What do you want?" I asked and crossed my arms together.

"Mom said we'll be having a "joint birthday celebration" tonight." I sensed the annoyance in his voice.

"No-"

"You can't do anything about it. Our moms totally planned this one." He turned around and left me. Just like that one summer day.

I have decided to change the story plot. I am sorry. I hadn't thought of something that will make Romeo play Juliet's heart on the first draft. So I hope this is as okay as the first one.
