Chapter 1

"Honey, boy do i have great news." My dad exclaimed coming into the room. "What's that?" I asked looking up from my homework. "Well things between me and Bella have gotten serious." "I know this." I said confused at his admision. "That's not my news dear. Because things are going well, i want you to get to know her better, so you'll have a female role model." "I think i do just fine." I said pulling at my holey shirt. "Honey let's face it for so long it's just been me and you and you've not exactly had a female influence." "So i like sports and don't see the point in getting my nails and makeup done. Henders football anyways. So tell me why exactly i need a female role model?" I shrugged.                 He patted me on the arm. "Honey i know that, i just always feel like if you had a woman around things might've been better." "Better? Dad i never wanted for anything. NEVER and things have always been fine. You need to know that so don't put this off on me. Like i needed more. Because i didn't but if you want me to get to know her for you i will. I just want you to be happy. I never minded it just being you and I." I said.

"But you never had sisters or brothers." He said. "Yea because mom was gone and we had to heal i don't feel like i missed out." "Well I kind of do, so maybe you could get to know Izzy and Bri too." "No dad, I agreed to get to know Bella, because i actually think she's nice but i'm not getting to know those girls. If you marry her and die they'll torment me! You've seen cinderella!!" "Honey, I'm fit as a fiddle." My dad said. "Yea, so was mom." I said looking down at my nike shorts.

"I know, and we've done pretty good for ourselves eh?" he asked. I nodded. "But i don't want to get to know them. If you marry Bella, fine good for you i'll show up to the wedding wear a terrible dress and smile. But I'm going to be in college soon it's not like i'm six and were, all going to be living together i have no reason to get to know them." I said. "I guess that's all i can ask for then." He said. "So i don't have to get to know them?" I asked. "Well i kind of told Bella, well i mean she thought you could come over tomorrow and spend the night with the girls." He said checking my reaction.            "Daaad" I whined. "I'm sorry i didn't think it'd be a problem or i would've said no. But i really should have asked you. I'm sorry." I groaned. I would do it for my dad i'd do anything for him. He took care of me when my mom died and he never dated giving me all of his time. He deserved this. It was the least i could do." I can call and tell her you don't wanna go." He said. "No, i'll go." I said. What a night it would be. I'd sit alone on the couch and play on my phone. If they'd leave me alone i'd leave them alone.           We didn't get along. It was simple physics. I was a tomboy. I liked to play sports, I hung out mostly with guys because i pretty much was one. Besides the boobs but you could hide them under a big t-shirt. My aunt was such a girly girl. After my mom died she'd try to get me to do girly things. She always said. "You're so pretty, but with a bit of makeup you'd be even prettier." But putting gunk of my face was stupid. I was just going to cover it with mud when i was playing soccer.       My dad kept saying i needed a female influence. But i liked my aunt, we just came from two different worlds. Maybe it was why i hated the idea of hanging out with Bri and Izzy. They had perfect hair it was annoying. I had long brown hair. Maybe that was a girly thing? But that's not why i had it long i just never wanted to step foot into a salon and my dad cut my hair when i was little but he wasn't that good at it so you know. It was mousy at best. My aunt said highlights would bring out my green eyes. Right.               I looked just like my mother. She was absolutely beautiful but when i looked in the mirror i didn't see a beautiful person looking back. I sighed opening my math book up again. If i didn't get this done i wouldn't get my grades up.

                                                                        The Next Day

I looked around the entertainment room that Izzy and Bri had. It was pretty cool. The walls were painted a pale blue. They had a huge tv with lots of DVD's, air hockey table and a foosball table. Huge leather couches. I didn't understand why they had an air hockey or foosball table i doubt either of them even knew how to play. I'm sure Izzy used the air hockey table to dry her nails. I rolled my eyes at the thought.

Izzy was sitting on the couch cuddling with her boyfriend. I was around boys all the time. But i never looked at a guy that i thought was so cute before. I stole glances at him when neither of them were looking. Jeremiah was sweet, even i could see that. But what he saw in Izzy was beyond me. I knew him from school we had hung out before and he was super cool but i never noticed how cute he was until i was this close to him.

Izzy and Bri looked like their mom. Short with blonde hair and blue eyes. They tanned...a lot. "Ok so i'm like an A cup and when i wear my bra my boobs go to a B cup and i like it but that's so lame i want to get a boob job so bad. Maybe even a D cup." Izzy said. "Oh yea when you stuff it. I so get that. A D cup would be good." Said Bri. Her boyfriend Jeremiah looked bored out of his mind. "Iz, can we do something? Maybe play air hockey or something?" Now we're talking.                   "Ew, no way you know i don't want to break a nail. Or a sweat." Izzy and Bri have been pretty much ignoring me since i got here, which was more than fine by me. Jeremiah however said hi and asked me how i was doing. We talked a bit here and there about sports.                 "Come on Tristen i know i can count on you to play me in air hockey." He said to me smiling. "Yea, if you want to lose." I said standing up. "Ew you know you don't actually have to talk to her right? She's kind of like a vase just...there..." "What? She's nice. I like her and besides i'm bored." I brushed past her ignoring her comment. I pulled out the puck and turned the machine on.

It was a close game but i beat him by three. We started another game and Izzy was rambling about where the lighter went, she needed to light her new candle, it calmed her. They resumed their boob talk. I couldn't believe how vapid these girls were. Talking about getting a boob job. I was already a D cup maybe a double D if i was honest . But i wouldn't mind having less, it made sports kind of hard. And i would hate having to make sure my makeup was perfect all the time. And a calming candle was one of the dumber things i'd heard today. I chuckled.

Bella had been dating my dad for two years. She was nice and down to earth. I even think she liked me. I knew that they were waiting on us to get to know each other before they got engaged. I know it's were things were heading. "Dang! Why are you so good at this?" Jeremiah asked. "Practice." I said smirking. "It's probably all she does Jer you know she doesn't get dates. I mean this is probably all the life she has." I rolled my eyes at her. "Real mature." She said.                 "Finally." Said Izzy producing a small box of matches from a drawer. She lit the candle and sat the match on the table. The match wasn't out all the way and the heavily lacquered table went up into flames. It all happened so quickly! I jumped into action. I found one of the vases she had referred to me as earlier. One with flowers and tried to pour it on the table but it didn't help, the flames licked up the walls fast.

"It's covering the exit we have to get out of here now!" Jeremiah screamed. Izzy and Bri freaked out. Screaming like girls. Jeremiah ran over to the window. He pushed it open and looked down. "We're gonna have to jump." He said. "No way i'll break my leg." Izzy whined. "You could stay here!" I said sarcastically. "Ok fine just let us go first, were prettier." She said.

Jeremiah helped Izzy out onto the ledge, and she jumped down. "Ow, it's high be careful Bri, and be careful baby. I love you." "I love you." He called back. He helped Bri out and onto the ledge and she jumped. He turned to me. "Are you ready?" "Ok." I said a little scared. "It's going to be ok you got this." "Ok thanks." He helped me out onto the ledge. "The fire is getting closer i need you to jump." He said. "Ok i nodded." Before i had time Jeremiah was pushing me out the window. "Ah." I screamed falling onto the ground, hard.           Jeremiah landed half way on me. His hand landed on my boob. He didn't move right away. "I am so sorry." He said. "Totally okay." I said looking into his beautiful blue eyes. I cleared my throat Izzy was going to hate this. I looked past him to see flames licking out of the window. "Totally ok, that could've been really bad." I clarified. "Are you ok?" He asked. "Yea, are you?" I asked. I was more then ok. I felt butterflies and i kind of liked it.

"Ok are you kidding me it's been like five minutes get up already." Said Izzy. "Oh sorry, that was some fall. It knocked the wind out of me." Jeremiah looked down at me one last time. Then he realized his hand was on my boob. He jerked it back blushing. Jeremiah stood up he put his hand out to help me up. "We have to try to stop the fire." I said." The second story was lit up in flames and it was starting to seep into the first floor.

"Please leave that to the professionals. Or are you really a guy? I mean it would all make sense. No curves...great at sports...and do i see a slight stash? Yes then please. Put out the fire sir."

"I'm calling 911 now." Said Bri with her phone to her ear. "I will put the fire out, it's your house! All of your things!!" "My things! All of my clothing and makeup. Whatever will i do!? Do something!!" She shrieked at me. I grabbed the water hose and turned it on trying to douse as much of the unburnt house as i could. I knew the hose wouldn't even make a dent in the fire but at least this way hopefully the whole house won't catch on fire.

"You're not even aiming for the fire, some dude you are!" Said Izzy. I rolled my eyes as i pulled out my phone to call my dad. He was on a date with Bella.

"Hey dad." "Tristen, what is that noise?" "Um the house is on fire." "Honey, are you just trying to get out of staying the night?" My dad asked. "No dad the house is really on fire." "What!? Ok we're coming home right now! Are you guys safe?" He asked concern evident in his voice. "Yes, Bri is on the phone with 911 now." "Ok we'll be right there, be careful." My dad said and quickly hung up.             "Ok I called our parents, they are on their on the way." I said. "Ok and 911 is coming too." Bri said. What else could we do but sit here and watch the fire burn their house down. I kept the hose going and moved around to the front of the house. "That's a good idea i'll help you." Jeremiah said. "What about me, i'm losing all of my stuff here." Izzy whined. Jeremiah seemed so cool and down to earth how in the world did he end up with her? "Sweetie you'll be fine, you'll get more stuff let me save your house first ok."                "Oh baby you're so brave and smart." She gushed. "Well it was Tristan's genius idea. I'm just trying to help." He shrugged. I smiled at him my thanks. He got the hose on the other side of the house and we proceeded to wet the house down. Minutes later we heard sirens coming. They pulled into the driveway and we backed out of the way.

They pulled a large hose from the truck and sprayed the house down. "Mam is this your residence?" One of the firefighters asked me. "No no it's mine." Said Bri walking over. "Ok, are you parents home?" He asked. "No, soon." "Well whoever came up with the idea of spraying the house down did a really good job. Saved most of the bottom half. But it's still gonna be pretty unlivable."

Izzy's eyes grew wide. "Sorry sir, i guess your idea to wet the house was smart." Said Izzy. "Cut it out." Said Jeremiah. Our parents showed up soon after and talked with the firemen. After talking with each other they made the decision that everything needed to go so they could rebuild it. They went into the house to clear as much stuff as they could out. Dad said they could keep it in our shed. He also said they could stay at our house. I mean really where would they all sleep?

"Well they better not try to come into my room, and they can't stay there either. No matter what." I insisted. "Honey the girls won't come into your room. We'll put them on the couch until we can find a better solution." He said. "Can't they like stay at a hotel or something?" "Well honey that's fine for a while but that's gonna get expensive. They'll start the rebuild soon. Three months tops and they'll be out of our hair." My dad said.

"Three months!? That's not funny. Can't they rent something?" I asked. "Honey it doesn't make sense for them to rent something. They will lose the deposit. It's just until the house gets rebuilt. You'll be fine." My dad said. "Fine, but i won't like it!" I said.
