Wallowing Waves

That day I decide
To be bashful no more
I feel encouraged
By the waves' wild roar
By the winking of starfish
And the whispers of sand
In the arms of the water
I wade to the land

There my lost sailor sits
Alone and so quiet
As I stand there and watch him
I have to wonder why it
Unnerves me so
To see a boy so mute
As I draw closer I see
That he's delicate and cute

He has skin like bronze
Glinting in the sea-sun
And eyes of bright blue
That blink, glitter, and stun
He sits in the sand
In anonymity
But I know he won't
Be so mysterious with me
