Roohi's POV

Bhai stopped the car, and we arrived at one of the most exclusive spas and salons in town, owned by Myra Bhabhi and her mom.

As I walked in, I couldn’t help but feel a surge of anticipation. This was it. Today, I would get my makeover and maybe, just maybe, feel like I was worth noticing for the first time in a long while.

My heart raced with excitement as I stepped into the sleek, opulent spa that Myra Bhabhi owned. The fragrant scent of essential oils and soft ambient music greeted me as soon as I walked in. It was nothing short of the most luxurious place I had ever been in. Myra Bhabhi had always been the picture of beauty, grace, and elegance, effortlessly charming everyone around her. I had always admired her, but today, I couldn’t help but envy her confidence and poise.

The decision to finally go ahead with the makeover had been a difficult one, but I had made up my mind. I needed this—not just to look better for Gauravi's wedding, but for me. And perhaps, just maybe, I would finally be able to catch the attention of someone who had never seen me as more than his best friend.

Vihan.

He had never once looked at me as anything more than the girl who was always there, the one who never expected anything, the one who never needed anything. It had always been clear that he saw me as one of his three best friends, and nothing more.

He was flirtatious, charming, and always surrounded by women. It was famous that he would flirt with anyone in a skirt. Yet when it came to me, he remained oblivious.

I wouldn’t take it anymore. I wanted him to notice me, to see me as more than just Roohi, his childhood friend. I was tired of being the "girl next door" while he had an eye for every other girl who came his way. I wasn’t asking for much—just a little attention. So when Myra Bhabhi insisted on a makeover, I couldn’t resist. It was the perfect opportunity to finally do something for myself.

"Bhabhi, do you really think this will work?" I asked her as she walked me to the spa’s back room. She was already on the phone with her Mamu(maternal uncle), Mohit Paul, one of the most renowned designers in India.

"Trust me, Roohi, this will be life-changing," she said, her eyes sparkling with excitement. "You are stunning already, but sometimes a little change can work wonders. And let's face it, you're more than ready for a change."

I had always been confident in my looks. I came from a family where beauty ran deep. My mother, Taiji, and all my brothers were extremely good-looking; my dad, tauji, and even my grandmother and grandfather had been known for their timeless good looks. Our family was one of the wealthiest in the country. We had everything—fame, fortune, and elegance—but for some reason, I had never felt like I belonged in that world. I was the quiet one, the reserved one who always chose to stay in the background with my books.

But today, that was going to change. I was going to let myself be the center of attention, if only for a little while.

Myra Bhabhi led me into a room where several stylist assistants awaited, each one with a warm smile and a look of professionalism that immediately put me at ease. The room was filled with an array of luxurious products—fragrances, skincare treatments, and makeup that screamed opulence. The lights were soft, almost magical, and the atmosphere was calming. It felt like a dream.

Myra gave a few instructions to the team, and soon, I found myself sitting in front of a full-length mirror with a stylist's cape draped over my shoulders. The treatment was about to begin.

Myra Bhabhi’s plan was simple yet effective. She wanted me to look polished, elegant, and sophisticated. I knew it would catch Vihan's eye and also make me feel confident in my skin. First came the skincare.

"Your skin is beautiful, Roohi," the esthetician said as she applied a rich, rejuvenating face mask. "But we’ll give it that extra glow, a freshness that will last for hours. You need to look radiant, like the star you are."

I closed my eyes and let her work,  feeling the soothing mask cool on my skin. After some time, she rinsed it off and massaged a hydrating serum into my face. I couldn’t help but feel pampered.

After the manicure, pedicure, waxing, and facial came the hair. My long, dark hair was something I had always taken pride in. It had a natural shine, but Myra insisted that it needed to be tamed and styled in a way that would give it more volume. A stylist worked carefully, using luxurious oils and products, to smooth out any flyaways and create soft, loose waves that framed my face perfectly. It was sleek, yet voluminous, and it added an extra layer of sophistication.
