After Ryder got a great taste of the Hargreeves family because Luther had accused someone in the family of murder, Ryder joined Klaus in his childhood bedroom. Klaus was laying on his back on his bed slowly smoking while Ryder was sitting in a chair swirling a drink in his hand.

"Do you think I should do it?"

Ryder hums taking a sip. "Do what?" Klaus turned to be on his side so he can look at Ryder. "Try to talk to Dad for that." Ryder knew that Klaus and all of the Hargreeves children had powers, Klaus had told after being roommates for months and they grew to trust each other.

"Well, it's your choice but I will say you're gonna have to stop smoking so you can be sober to talk to Reginald."

Klaus whines and puts the blunt he was smoking on the ashtray that was on his nightstand. "I don't want to be sober, it hurts." Ryder chuckled. "I know but if you want me too I can stay in the room with you." Klaus with a relieved look on his face.

Ryder watched as Klaus yawned and got up. "What are you doing?' Ryder asks not moving from his spot. "We're gonna go try to talk to Dad." Ryder looked confused but scooted to the edge of the chair. "Now?" Klaus nodded and walked out of his room.

Ryder huffed but followed Klaus drink still in hand. He walked down the long stairs to the living room where Klaus was starring at the urn containing Reginald. "Listen up, old man." Klaus started talking to the urn and Ryder sat on the couch staring at Klaus slowly sipping his drink.

"You know if I was murdered, and if one of my sons- adopted sons happened to commune with the dead, I might think about."

Ryder noticed how Klaus changed sons to adopted sons and he felt sad for Klaus but he watched as Klaus kept talking. "I don't know, manifesting!" Klaus yelled the last part spreading his arms wide for effect.

Klaus put his hands on his hips and imitates Reginald. "Do the whole big angry ghost lecture. Tell everyone who done it, and find eternal peace." Klaus sighs. "Eternal peace is probably overrated."

After going through a bottle of whiskey and feeling sorry for Klaus as he was getting nothing Ryder decided to interject. "I don't think it's gonna work. Why don't we forget about that and have a dance party?" Ryder gets up and walks over to Klaus. "Just like in rehab huh?" Klaus backed up and knocked over the urn, being as inebriated as he was Ryder burst out laughing Klaus soon followed him.

They cleaned up the ashes and walked down towards the kitchen to have more privacy. "You want some?" Klaus held up a bag of drugs. "What is it?" Ryder asks sitting on the table swinging his feet, Klaus gave him a look. "It's the happy pills." Ryder oohs and grabs two, Klaus taking two along with him.

Ryder places his phone on the table and starts some music he doesn't pay attention to what is playing but recognizes it's a random 80s song. They started dancing spinning around, the joy was cut short though when thunder sounds making the power shut off, Ryder notices that the metal is starting to shift his dog tags around his neck began to lift along with his hand where he's wearing a ring. "Oh, Daddy?" Ryder pulls Klaus down just in time for knives to go past where their heads wear and into the opposite wall.

Klaus placed the urn down and grabbed a fire extinguisher for what Ryder didn't know but he didn't have time to ask because Klaus ran upstairs and Ryder followed him to make sure Klaus didn't end up killing himself.

He followed Klaus outside to where Klaus was throwing the extinguisher into the hole that formed. "What is that gonna do?" Ryder heard Allison yell but he wasn't paying attention because the hole in the sky made him worried, he could feel the fire climbing up his body. He itched for the fire to be let out.

"Everyone get behind me!"

Klaus pulled Ryder's arm to get behind Luther. "What do we do?" Ryder asked making the Hargreeves jump as they forgot Ryder was with them. "I vote running, c'mon!"

Before Klaus could escape the hole spit out a child, the storm cleared up instantly. The Hargreeves plus Ryder started walking towards the child who was slowly getting up.

Ryder felt Klaus grab a hold of his hand, his stomach jumped but it dissipated when he thought about what just happened. "Does anyone else see little number five, or is that just me?" Ryder had a confused look on his face.

"Shit."

Ryder and the Hargreeves including Five now were all in the kitchen they were watching Five make a sandwich. "What's the date? The exact date." Five asked while grabbing stuff to make a sandwich, when Ryder noticed no one was replying Ryder decided to do it. "March the 24th." Five regarded Ryder with a glance but didn't say anything but the word good which Ryder thought was odd but didn't speak about it.

Luther was the first one to speak out of the siblings. "So, are we going to talk about what just happened?" Klaus looked down at Ryder who was sitting beside Diego. "It's been 17 years." Luther stands up and looks down on Five.

"It's been a lot longer than that."

Suddenly Five just disappeared and reappeared next to some cabinets that were behind Ryder which made him jump, Klaus grabbed his hand and softly smiled. "I haven't missed that." Luther rolled his eyes. "Where'd you go?" Diego asks arms crossed. "The future, it's shit by the way."

"Called it."

Ryder had to cover his mouth so he wouldn't laugh. "I should've listened to the old man." Since Klaus was still holding Ryder's hand Ryder felt Klaus tense up at the mention of his adoptive Dad. "You know, jumping through space is one thing. Jumping through time is a toss of the dice."

Vanya leaned forward. "So how did you get back?" Five puts his sandwich together while he replies to Vanya's question. "I had to project my consciousness forward into a suspended quantum state version of myself that exists across every possible instance of time."

All of them were confused. "How long were you there?" Ryder asks curiosity getting the best of him. "Forty-five years, who are you?" Five finally looks at Ryder who looks embarrassed for getting involved. "He's Klaus's friend." Allison comments, Five hums.

"So, you're 58?"

Five looks at the family plus Ryder. "No, my consciousness is 58." He doesn't take his eyes off of the group as he takes a big bite of his sandwich.

It was raining when they finally walked outside to have the funeral. "Did something happen?" Grace asked when they reached the spot. "Dad died, remember?" Allison explains softly.

"Oh, yes of course."

Ryder felt a gentle nudge, he looked and saw Klaus handing him a flask and Ryder took it a swig down a gulp. A walking chimp looked at Luther. "Whenever you're ready."

Luther took the cap off and poured it out, Ryder and Klaus had matching grimaces on their faces as they noticed the wind didn't pick it up.

"Probably would have been better with some wind."

"Does anyone wish to speak?"

It was quiet so Pogo decided to speak. "In all regards, Sir Reginald Hargreeves made me what I am today. For that alone, I shall forever be in his debt. He leaves behind a complicated legacy."

Ryder heard Klaus sigh and was confused about why until Diego spoke up. "He was a monster, he was a bad person and a worse father. The world's better of without him."

"Diego"

"My name is Number Two."

Ryder knows that tone of voice Diego has, he's had it many times throughout his life.

"You know why Ryder? Our father couldn't be bothered to give us actual names. He had Mom do it. You wanna pay your respects fine but you should be honest about the type of man he was."

Luther shook his head. "You should stop talking now."

Ryder saw that they exchanged words but he couldn't hear them, Klaus was pushing them back away so they couldn't accidentally get hit.

"Hit him! Hit him!"

Ryder shook his head, this wouldn't turn out well but he would surely have some interesting things to tell his family when he gets back.
