Sixteen

All that could be heard was the sound of the constant ticking of the living room wall clock. It ticked like an annoying mantra, mocking Seokjin as the hands of the clock continued to push forward. It was ten minutes past midnight, and Seokjin had an early shift at the diner the next morning. He was bound to be exhausted for his shift, but his stubbornness and anxiousness made it impossible for him to sleep right now.

He subconsciously tapped his fingers against his knee over his pajama bottoms while his other hand held its grip on the television remote. The TV is the only light illuminating the room, but Seokjin isn't really watching anything at the moment. He has the volume set on mute. There seems to be some kind of baking competition playing, but Seokjin can't seem to comprehend what's happening because his thoughts are too loud.

Seokjin has finally made a decision. If his husband doesn't come home again tonight, then he's done. He'll be throwing in the towel of their marriage. Seokjin can't fathom the idea that Namjoon might be having an affair, but he'll be damned to be played as a fool. Tonight was Namjoon's last chance.

Since he's not used to staying up so late anymore, Seokjin let out an excessive yawn. His eyes felt heavy, but he couldn't let the drowsiness take him yet. He wanted to give Namjoon the benefit of the doubt.

There was a small piece of hopefulness that Seokjin was clinging on to. He wanted to believe that Namjoon was innocent; that he really was just work absorbed and neglectful, not a cheater.

Jin has even contemplated showing up on campus during one of Namjoon's late evenings out, but there are a couple of things stopping him. For one, the University's security is extremely strict about letting in guests after hours, even the staff's spouses. And for two, that would mean leaving Jangmi with Jungkook super late at night. It's not that he doesn't trust the teenager to watch over her, but the pregnant male is still in school and needs his sleep too. It's not his responsibility to care for his three-year-old niece. She was Seokjin's and Namjoon's responsibility, though Namjoon has been absolutely no help in that department lately.

Seokjin glanced up at the clock that now read 1:02am. He chewed on his nails anxiously as he decided that 2am would be the end. He didn't want to wait anymore past that. He was too tired and his heart couldn't take much more.

He jumped to the sound of one of their bedroom doors creaking open. He was hopeful that Jangmi was still sound asleep. He doesn't think he could keep himself together in front of her. The mother already feels like he's failed her.

To his relief, it was Jungkook that made an appearance with his eyes half squinted from sleep and with tousled bed hair. The younger brother looked adorable with his normally loose sleep shirt now fitting more snugly against his prominent baby bump.

Jungkook walked right past the older toward the kitchen without any form of acknowledgement. He was probably still half asleep. The young male had gone to sleep a few hours prior claiming to be completely exhausted, but his pregnancy tended to have him waking up often in the middle of the night. Jin remembers the same thing happening to him when he was pregnant with Jangmi.

The rummaging around in the kitchen worried Seokjin, but it kept him distracted from the time. He lifted himself off of the couch and stretched his limbs before following his brother.

What he saw when he stepped foot into the room almost made him want to giggle and gag at the same time. Jungkook was aggressively eating chocolate chunk ice cream straight out of the container. Sitting next to it he had a two liter bottle of coca cola that he would directly pour into the ice cream before scooping out more and shoving it into his mouth. The ice cream and coke float was painted all over the boy's face. He looked ridiculous, but Jin couldn't help but coo, which caught Jungkook's attention.

"You know you shouldn't sneak up on a pregnant person, right?" Jungkook furrowed his brows and took a large swig of cola directly from the bottle.

Seokjin crossed his arms over his chest. "Jungkook, you shouldn't be having two of the things that give you bad indigestion at one in the morning."

Jungkook waved him off. "It's fine. I'll have to suffer with it later. This kid makes me crave it bad, and then I can't digest it properly." He cradled the bottom of his belly.

"Well, we better warn Hoseok that this baby is going to be a psychopath."

"Well, duh." Jungkook rolled his eyes, the sleepy bags under them still present. "It's the evil spawn of Taehyung and I."

Jungkook managed to bring a small laugh out of his brother, but as quickly as the smile came, it faltered once again.

"Hey, what are you doing up anyways?" Jungkook dared to ask. "Are you waiting on Namjoon?"

Seokjin closed his eyes and took a couple breaths. He didn't want to cry in front of his pregnant little brother. He had to stay strong for him and Jangmi. "We can talk about it later, Kook. Go back to bed. I'll clean this up."

The younger brother could tell that tonight wasn't a good night to argue with the elder. So he nodded his head, looking at his brother solemnly, before heading to bed.

By the time Jin was finished cleaning up the mess Jungkook had managed to make, the time had finally hit 2am.

That was it. Seokjin was done waiting around for his husband to come home. There was a good chance that he wouldn't come home in the first place, and Seokjin was exhausted.

Seokjin wasn't sure what the best thing to do was, but he needed it to be well known that he was done. Suddenly, Seokjin knew exactly what he needed to do to get the message across.

He scurried into what would now be considered only his bedroom and searched around inside the master closet.

For being so late at night or early in the morning, Seokjin knew he was probably making too much noise, but he didn't care. He was on a mission, and as soon as he finished, he'd be able to finally go to bed and rest with his decision.

Kim Seokjin and Kim Namjoon were done.

Namjoon finally parked his Poniac into the driveway of the house. He glanced at the clock on the dash that read 3:30am and sighed. It was late, and he had to be up in a few hours for work again. He knew Jin was going to be upset with him, but he also knew that his husband will more than likely avoid the conflict like he always does.

Namjoon knows that he'e being unfair to his spouse, but what he's doing right now is just too thrilling to stop.

He struggled to force his tired and achy body out of the small, old vehicle. His hair was all disarrayed and his tie hung loosely around his neck. Namjoon looked like a complete mess. He was exhausted, and all he longed for was to be tucked inside the warm sheets of his bed.

But he wouldn't dare to sleep in the bedroom tonight. He wouldn't want to wake up Seokjin in the process of him climbing into bed. Jin is always grouchy when he's woken up in the middle of the night, unless it's Jangmi that causes it. If Namjoon were to cause it, especially tonight when he's come home so late, Seokjin wouldn't let him survive.

The younger husband shuddered at the thought of his aggressive, sleep-loving spouse.

As he approached the front door, Namjoon kept his head down, only staring at the pavement as he walked, so he only finally noticed the three large suitcases sitting in front of the door when he about knocked into them.

"What the-?" He said out loud, knowing that no one could hear him. He stared at the bags with a dumbfounded expression, not comprehending why his luggage was sitting outside and blocking the door.

He attempted to move one out of the way and realized that it was stuffed full. The sucker was heavy. He laid it on the pavement and unzipped the bag because he needed to know what was inside.

His mouth dropped open in surprise when he realized it was a majority of his philosophy book collection, a collection that has taken him many years to develop. The rest of them were in his office at the University. But why were these laying out here?

Namjoon immediately hurried to unzip the remaining two suitcases, and he realized they were all filled with his personal belongings, including his clothes, shoes, and personal hygiene products. He gazed at all of the stuff in astonishment. He couldn't wrap his around why Jin would-

And then it clicked...

This is Seokjin's way of kicking him out. He was telling Namjoon to scram, to get lost. Instead of telling him to pack his bags, Seokjin took it upon himself to do the job for him... and Namjoon was absolutely stupefied.

He never thought Jin would actually kick him out.

In a panic, Namjoon threw all of the opened bags aside, not caring if the contents flew about. He fished his keys out of his pocket and unlocked the front door with shaky hands, but when he tried to push the door open, it wouldn't budge. It was as though something were blocking the door. Seokjin barricaded the door.

Now he was desperate. He knocked on the door, but to his dismay, there was no answer. He pounded harder, surely loud enough for even the neighbors to hear, but there was nothing. Namjoon grunted in frustration, in exasperation, tugging at his roots.

He dug his phone out of his suit jacket pocket and dialed his husband's number, but Seokjin turned his phone off. His call went straight to voicemail.

The young man fell to his knees in defeat. Namjoon felt pathetic because he knew that the only one to blame was himself.

A heavy knock on the door woke Yoongi up from a dead sleep. Yoongi grunted and rolled over in his bed to look at his alarm clock with squinted eyes.

"Why the hell is someone knocking on my door at 4:30 in the morning?" He murmured. He can't believe someone is interrupting his sleep at this time of night.

When the knocking continued, Yoongi finally climbed out of his warm bed, and in socked feet, he tiptoed toward the door. He wonders if it's perhaps the police again. His neighbors have been nuisances in the past and have had the police called on them multiple times now. It wouldn't be the first time that he's been questioned about them. Yoongi was over living in his apartment.

However, when he swung the door open, he wasn't expecting to see his old college buddy standing in front of him, wearing a derpy grin on his face, accompanied by multiple luggage cases.

"Namjoon- What the hell are you doing here?" Yoongi looked sleep deprived, but his voice sounded stunned.

"Mind if I crash here?"
