the one where they spend a day together
George had downed quite a few of the delicious home made cinnamon buns, and he sat back with a full belly and a light hearted smile.
Emi poked at the remaining bits of her second bun with her fork.
George gazed at her, looking her over.
He took note of her slightly slouched figure, her soft hair that he wanted to run his fingers through, the odd glow that surrounded her.
It was the kind of glow that made him want to ask, 'Are you okay?'
After a few moments, he sighed.
"Alright," he began.
He stood up and fixed his sweats, as Emi turned to look at him.
"What?" She asked.
"Stand up."
She slowly set her fork down and stood, brushing herself off.
George looked at her, then reached a hand out, grabbing her shoulder and tugging her forward so that he could wrap his arms around her.
He did just that, closing his eyes as he rested his head against hers, so that her hair brushed his lips... So that he could breathe her in.
He hugged her tightly, brushing his thumb gently against her side.
He felt her arms wrap around his torso, and he couldn't help but smile.
He inhaled deeply, and she did the same, her face pressed against his warm skin.
She smelt the scent that was so unmistakably George, and felt herself grow weak at the knees.
George looked out the window with a worried expression.
He had women.
Emi made him feel good, but at the same time she was a reminder of guilt.
He wasn't going out with her, but he felt bad, sleeping with women... Not while it was happening, but when he saw Emi... He had regret.
"Let's go out and have fun today, yeah?" He offered.
Emi nodded as best she could against the mans chest.
They stayed that way for quite a while before moving to dress properly.
~~~
"Ready, Emi?" He asked, a smile on his face as he looked down to her.
Emi nodded.
George smiled wider and Emi felt a giddy feeling at the sight.
The sight of his bright eyes and smile made her want to kiss him.
Not only that, but she wanted to press a million kisses to his face, peppering them here and there.
It was a feeling she only ever got with George.
~~~
They walked along the streets, looking around for anything and everything to do.
Both of the pair knew the area quite well.
They stopped in stores and novelty shops, messing around and on occasion actually purchasing something.
One of the stores that they had entered, they'd been kicked out of, for George was messing around with the displays a bit too much, and the pair where caught.
~~~
The two were sitting at a table outside a coffee shop now.
It had been a few hours since they had began their adventure.
"Cheating." Emi said.
Georges head snapped up.
"What?" He asked, startled.
Again, they weren't dating, but he didn't want her to know about who he slept with.
"I feel like I'm cheating on my coffee shop. Sitting at another like this." Emi smiled in whimsy, not noticing George's alert state.
George blinked a few times, calming down quickly once he realized what she was truly speaking about.
"You have to take me there, sometime." He said, swirling the last of his drink around the bottom of the cup.
Emi smiled brightly.
"I'd love to bring you. I'll make you coffee, and macaroons... I'd love for you to meet that sweet grandfather. I think you'd like him." Emi smiled.
George nodded.
They watched the streets for a while.
In reality, those few hours were much longer.
George watched couples walk by.
He couldn't help but focus on that nagging feeling.
It wasn't great, it was faint, but it still bugged him.
George wasn't one to go out and brag about who he slept with.
But, he certainly wasn't worried if any of his friends knew...
But Emi...
It was different with her.
She held an innocence that he didn't want to mess with.
She was perfect to him, but he didn't want to share this kind thing with her.
He wondered why he was so conflicted.
Was it because he loved her?
Or... Was it that he didn't love her?
Did he or didn't he?
What was it?
He didn't know.
He just didn't fucking know.
He felt a pound in his head, and couldn't stand to be in the lights of the city anymore.
He stood up and stretched and Emi gazed at him in admiration.
"Let's go." He said.
Emi tilted her head.
"Why? Are you okay?" She asked, noticing an unhappy lilt to his voice.
"Yeah," George plastered on a smile. "I just have somewhere I'd like to go." He said.
Emi nodded, finishing off the last of her fruity drink and tossing the cup in the bin.
~~~
The pair walked for a while before reaching the entrance to the forest.
They stood side by side, gazing at the trail.
They looked at one another, and George looked down, holding his hand out.
Emi glanced down at his hand, and slipped her own into his, intertwining their fingers.
It felt right.
"Ready?" He asked quietly.
"Ready." She replied.
And then...
Hand in hand...
The pair began to run.
