the one where they go

"ああ!私はとても興奮しています!" ( Ah! I'm so excited! )

Emi smiled at the happy girl.

Haru had spent the day at Emi's home, and now it was night, and they were due to leave for the airport soon.

Sota had offered to pick them up, but Emi's mom wanted to be the one to see the girls off.

Plus, they'd have plenty of time to see him on the flight. They were looking at something along the lines of thirteen or fourteen hours.

The girls were packed, ready to leave within the next few minutes.

"あなたは何のために最も興奮していますか?" ( What are you most excited for? )

Emi snapped out of her thoughts.

"Seeing the city." She responded. "You?"

"Eating hot dogs!" Haru exclaimed.

"Hot dogs!" Emi exclaimed, laughing as she did so.

"Of course!" Haru continued. "I've watched so many shows and seen how amazing they look! I bet they're delicious!" She stared off in the distance, as if she could see the tempting food in the room.

Emi shook her head.

"Girls!"

Emi looked at her door just as her mom appeared.

"Let's cracking!"

Haru and Emi looked at each other before bursting out in laughter.

Emi's mom wasn't completely fluent in English.

"Let's get cracking." Emi corrected when she calmed down, standing up and dusting herself off.

The Amari mother just squinted her eyes at her daughter before shrugging and walking out of the room.

Emi helped Haru up, and in the car they went.

On the journey, Emi couldn't help but watch the scenery pass through the window.

She'd never been away from Japan.

She found herself missing it already, even before she'd left.

But soon enough, there she was, saying goodbye to her mother, and looking for the tall baseball player in the crowd, her arm linked with Haru's.

It didn't take long to find him.

His blue shirt was bright compared to the other people walking around.

"Sota!" Haru shouted, jumping and waving her arm in the air.

It caught his attention quickly, and he looked over, laughing and sending a smile to Emi.

He walked over quickly.

"Hey," he started. "You guys ready?"

Haru smiled brightly and nodded.

Sota laughed again and poked her forehead, causing her to swipe at him.

He dodged her avidly.

Suddenly, the voice rang from the speakers, calling their flight number.

"Come on." Sota said, ushering the girls gently toward the gate.

As they waited in line to give their tickets to the woman, Emi watched a plane take off from the window of the building.

She shuddered as it left the ground.

Sota spun around, amazed at the sight, but his smile fell upon seeing Emi's face.

"Are you alright?" He asked.

Emi looked at him quickly, eyes widening a bit.

She nodded.

He pursed his lips.

"It's not so bad when you're on it. It goes by quickly, too." he says, encouraging her to be brave.

Emi nods again, looking down.

"Hey," Sota says, placing his hand atop her head, bending down to eye level.

"You got this! Think of all the cool stuff that waits on the other end! Plus, it'll be like time travel." he said.

Emi smiled. "Alright, alright." she said, moving his arm off of her.

"I can do it."

"Why is everything shaking?" Emi asked hurriedly as the plane was taking off.

Haru was next to the window, Emi in the middle and Sota on her other side.

Sota chuckled.

"It's alright. It's like a giant car, or a mini earthquake, nothing to be worried about." He said, sitting back.

It only got worse from there.

Turbulence.

Her breathing picked up, she felt hot, her legs were shaking.

Haru had headphones in, looking out the window in wonder.

Emi was half way to an anxiety attack.

Sota moved quickly, putting his headphones over her ears, playing a soft song, and turning up the volume to a bit of a high level, but not too loud.

She looked at him quickly.

He motioned for her to breathe.

She nodded, beginning to slow her breath.

After a few minutes, the turbulence was gone, and she felt sleepy, finally feeling relaxed.

Haru had gotten up to go to the bathroom.

Emi's eyes were closing slowly, her head bobbing.

Sota smiled as he watched her.

His eyes widened as her head lulled to the side, landing on his shoulder.

He felt a heat rise to his cheeks, a warm feeling spread through his chest.

Haru walked back to her seat, holding a package of peanuts in her hand while smiling at it.

She looked up just before she reached her seat, and watched as Sota placed a soft kiss atop Emi's head.

Haru's smile fell, her lips parting slightly.

She watched Sota look down at Emi, before leaning back in his seat.

She looked down, quickly and quietly making her way back to her seat.

As she sat down, she looked at the two.

Just then, Emi had readjusted in her sleep, looping her arm into Sota's.

Haru looked at Sota.

He smiled, his eyes closed.

Haru looked down once more, placing in her ear buds, and leaning against the wall, she stared out the window until she fell asleep.
