"Aunty, she is Vaishali Khanna Singh; my wife."
Vaish stilled.
She didn't pay any attention to anything around her. It was like her mind blocked everything and focused only on one thing.
Vaishali Khanna Singh.
That sounded so... different. Good different or bad different she doesn't know. She felt like she doesn't know anything.
It all felt too dramatic to be real. Her giving presentation to Pooja Jindal, getting appreciated by her then Arjun coming as major shareholder of JP Group and almost spilling the truth, which was not true.
Then came this man; the one who called her his wife. She can't bring herself to call his name. Because for her Abhay is not just a name but a whole lot of emotions.
So she can't call him nor can she avoid him. She just didn't know what to do. For the first time in her life she felt out of control.
He claimed her to be his wife; something that Arjun was trying to convince her from past three months but she didn't believe him for a second.
And here he said it only one time but she trust this man so much that her heart is not even questioning it. It was like a part of her subconscious already knew the truth and was just waiting for him to accept it.
It was wrong on so many levels. What he did to her, what she did to him; but even then she can't bring herself to think that whatever happened that night was wrong.
Something was seriously wrong with her.
She looked around herself to see everyone looking at her as if expecting her to say something. Did someone ask anything to her? She didn't know. She wasn't paying attention. Her inner turmoil was too much to pay attention to anything being said outside. She just wanted to run away from there and arrange her wayward thoughts into something sensible. She wanted to escape.
She felt someone squeezing her hand in a gentle manner and looked up to see him.
Mr. Stranger.
Her husband.
Abhay Singh.
She looked in his charcoal black eyes and this time it was not to read him but to search something familiar... and she was not surprised to found the familiar emotion in them.
One that she has seen on that night in Vegas; which was pleading her to not leave him alone; in the crowd and something broke inside her.
That something which made her fall for him, in the first place and so she closed her eyes and took a deep breath before opening them, this time with only one purpose, which was to go out of this room as gracefully as she entered.
Their life was mess but it was their mess and she can't let outsiders have the pleasure of seeing Vaishali Khanna Singh breaking down.
Yes, she is the wife of Abhay Singh, without any doubts but there are infinite questions inside her which she will ask him when the time comes but right now she has to clear the mess they all have created. They have made a big drama of her life, even after knowing how much this presentation meant to her.
So she focussed her attention on Pooja who was looking at her with a calm face but a distant look in her eyes as if waiting for her reaction to Abhay's expression.
Vaish felt as if she was being judged, with all eyes on her and everyone waiting for her to open her mouth to either accept or deny Abhay's statement, or to just say something...anything about it.
Before anyone could say anything, Arjun opened his mouth and asked her, "Is he saying right, Ms. Vaishali?"
Again, this man was interfering. What does he want from them? Already he created enough nuisances! Wasn't he satisfied by it? Why doesn't he just keep quiet and go back from wherever he came? Doesn't he have a big empire to run?
And how does he know so many details about that night? Did he and Abhay were playing some sick joke on her? But Abhay clearly hated Arjun, so they can't be together. Then who is he and why is he interfering with their lives?
Her eyes roamed around the room and she can see everyone was waiting for her answer.
You want to play a game, then let's play it my way, Mr. Shekhawat.
She kept her head high and looked into his eyes before saying,
"Actually it's Mrs. Vaishali."
She could hear gasps in the room and a sigh of relief from the person beside her.
"Yes, he is right. I'm Vaishali Khanna Singh, the wife of Abhay Singh. We are married for three months now."
She spoke like a queen she was.
She could hear Abhay's relieved breath as soon as she finished her sentence. She also didn't miss the look of proud that crossed Pooja's face.
But her real satisfaction would be to see the look of defeat on Arjun's face but to her surprise his expression was neutral.
"Why did you keep your marriage as secret for three months?" He asked the next question and Vaish gulped. She was thinking of some answer but felt Abhay coming closer to her.
He looked into Arjun's eyes and said, "Because we didn't want anyone to think that she is using our marriage as a way of influencing the decision about this presentation. That is the reason I was away from the company from past three months. My wife is very much capable of achieving this on her own. We were thinking of announcing our marriage in the success party of this presentation but well things have their own way of coming out."
"Is everything okay with your marriage?" He asked his final question.
Both Vaish and Abhay gulped at this. Well at the moment nothing was okay with it.
Another voice answered it for them.
"The question is too personal to be answered in front of so many people but I trust my kids and I'm sure they know how to manage their life. So you should stop interrogating them, Arjun." Pooja finally intervened.
"I was just checking it for their benefit. I don't have any animosity towards them aunty. I won't try and hurt my brother and sister in law, intentionally." Arjun said and looked at the shocked expression on their faces.
Another round of gasp among the audience.
"Brother?" Abhay asked, after recovering from shock.
"Yes brother. I'm your cousin from your father's side of family. We are first cousins. I studied in a boarding school so I was not able to attend your parent's funeral and after that we got busy with our life. But as I took over three months ago, I talked to your aunt and bought shares of your company, to strengthen our relationship both personally and professionally."
Now this was a shock to Abhay. He thought that Pooja Aunty was his only family but there were more. He never knew his father's side of family because they cut all the relations from him when he married his mother. They were not happy with his choice; love marriage was a big no at that time, so he never met them. They only came to show their face at his parent's funeral and he was too upset to notice their presence.
"But... How? I mean..." Abhay was not able to comprehend it.
"We'll talk about it later Abhay." Pooja said. Turning toward the members of her company she said, "Ladies and gentleman, the presentation is over. The contract is given to V&S Group of Companies. Now if you can please excuse us as we are having a family moment here."
Everyone nodded and left but not after muttering congratulations to Vaish and Abhay.
Now it was only four of them left.
Arjun looked at them seriously. "Take your time Abhay. You have my number. Contact me whenever you feel it right. I won't pressurise you into this. But first talk to her, clearly. A healthy relationship is based on good communication."
He then turned towards Vaishali and said in a sincere voice, "I'm sorry Vaishali. I really am, for my behaviour all these time. I know you have questions and I will answer them honestly but right now you guys need to sort out this issue between you both. Just listen to his explanation once. My brother is not bad. Call me when you guys are ready." He said and gently kissed her forehead and this time neither Vaish nor Abhay felt bad about it. He was showing his respect and asking for an apology, in his own way.
Finally he turned towards Pooja and said, "Your welcome."
And then before giving anyone any chance, he walked out of the room and probably their lives too.
He knew they will not call him for explanations because soon their all questions will be answered.
He knew that they loved each other and he was sure that where there is love, everything will be okay.
He also knew that he has gone soft to them in the end and he should not have said those words which gave them a hope that he is a good person. They should hate him; because he is nothing but hateable.
He was coming out of the room busy in his own thoughts, when he collided with someone. He grabbed the person to prevent her from falling. Some files fell down from her hands.
Her pale brown eyes were what he noticed at first and her blue hairs; which was an unusual colour for hairs but made her look pretty. And her lips were a light shade of pink, like babies.
She immediately distanced herself from him and he suddenly felt a sense of loneliness which was weird considering that he was lonely throughout his life. Perhaps the day was taking a toll on him.
The girl looked at him in shock and then noticed his suit and realised that he was someone important. She immediately looked scared and said, "Sorry. Sorry. Sorry. I'm really sorry sir. I thought everyone left and so I was entering the cabin while reading the file to ask Ms. Vaishali's opinion about it. I know it's very careless of me and that I should see where I'm going. I'm not always this clumsy but today was really a busy day and we were all running from the morning to arrange for this presentation. So, yeah I was in that mood and was just busy running. But why am I boring you with all this? All I want to say is that I'm really sorry for not watching my way and I hope that you are not hurt... or angry." She added the last word in whisper, praying that he is not like those angry, arrogant businessmen who will complain about her.
Arjun was pleasantly surprised by her ranting. She was nervous, that was not new as his presence usually intimidated people around him but it was the first time he heard someone speaking non-stop in their nervousness and that certainly amused him.
He looked around and saw a water bottle and gave it to her. She was so nervous that she took it. Also, her throat was dry after speaking so much. She was a nervous talker, she knew that.
While she was drinking water, he bent down and grabbed the file. Her eyes widened at his gesture and she looked at him like he was an alien, for his behaviour was too gentle for someone so rich.
"Here take your file and it's okay. The mistake was mine too. I was not paying attention to where I was going. I'm sorry and I hope you aren't hurt." He said in a surprisingly polite tone for the first time in his life and she was so blown away by his deep voice that she immediately developed a crush on him.
He was handsome, like Greek God like handsome and then that voice and the polite attitude were like a bonus.
"I'm okay. Thank you for saving me from falling." She said after getting her sense back.
"Your welcome." He replied and looked at for few seconds before his phone rang and just like that their spell was broken.
He looked at the caller and then at her before finally saying a good bye and walking away from her.
Her fairy tale moment ended there and she sighed looking at her prince charming walking away from her. She then gently hit her forehead for letting those fantasies take over her for a minute.
He was just being polite and she was behaving like a teenager and weaving fantasies. He was polite yet he was a rich businessman who was way out of her league. He talks to hundred girls like her daily and will probably forget her face as soon as he walks out of this building.
She then smiled at her silly imagination and sighed while looking back into the file.
Some people are never Meant To Be Together.

Inside the hall Pooja looked at both of them questioningly.
"Tell me one good reason which explains why you didn't tell me about your marriage earlier." She looked at Abhay.
"You were not even attending my call, aunty and I was busy with sorting my life. Does it really matter, now? We can talk about this later, I need to talk to Fireball."
"Fireball?" Pooja asked questioningly and he showed Vaish with his eyes.
"Oh Vaishali. I'm sorry my child. I was so busy at being angry at my nephew that I forgot to welcome you to our family. Welcome to the family dear." Pooja finally turned towards her and Vaish smiled at her and took her blessings but was surprised when Pooja hugged her.
"I'm impressed dear. My nephew can be hard to handle. You know you are having a drama king in your life." At the mention of Abhay, Vaish just gave her a tight lipped smile.
"Ok. I have so many questions for both of you but I think you both need to talk. So I will leave you two alone but you guys have to come for dinner as soon as possible and Vaishali, I would like to meet your family too." Pooja said and Vaish's eyes widened at the idea.
Telling her family about all this was going to be tough.
Abhay noticed her expression and looked at Pooja annoyingly.
"Aunty, we will think about it later." He said in a final tone and Pooja nodded.
"Okay Abhay but this discussion is not over yet. Now I will leave you two. Good bye and take care." She said.
As she reached the door she turned towards Abhay and said, "Abhay the presentation you made today was brilliant. I'm sure that your parents must be proud of you." Then she turned towards Vaish and said, "Take care of him, Vaishali. He is lonely even though he doesn't show it. You both really complement each other. See you soon."
Saying that she left and suddenly the air turned heavier.
Abhay was suddenly feeling at loss of words because he didn't know from where to start and how to explain it all.
Vaish looked at him and asked the first question that came in her mind from the moment he declared their marriage.
"Since when?" She asked and he felt all colour on his face leaving.
