FAITH
I didn't even use the elevator. I ran straight up to the stairs and into my room. But, I couldn't find the keys to my room. I couldn't wait here. I felt exposed and unsafe.
Without thinking, I ran to Mason's room.
"Ms. Lange, Mr. Hamond is currently on the phone. You can't just barge in!" Mrs. Rendall yelled, behind me.
Crying my eyes out, I burst into his room.
"M..Mason!" I cried, running to him.
At my sight, he immediately dropped his phone and ran up to me.
He protectively wrapped me in his arms.
"What happened, baby?" he asked me, his voice was shaking.
I couldn't find my voice. All I could do was cry. I was utterly terrified at what I had just experienced.
"Faith, tell me what happened. Come on, princess, don't cry, please." Mason begged, hugging me tighter.
I continued crying into his arms. We hugged with sheer silence.
"Hello? Mason? What happened? Is that your girlfriend, my future bride?!"
We both turned around to the direction of the voice. It was the voice of an elder woman, coming out of the phone.
Mason ran to his desk and grabbed his phone.
"Hey, mom? -silence- Yeah, yeah. -silence- Look, I gotta go. She's not feeling okay. -silence- YES. I will. -silence- Okay, mom. Yeah. Okay. Bye."
While he was talking with, who I assume was his mom, I decided to take a seat on one of the loveseats. Once their conversation was over, Mason came over to me and crouched down.
"Are you feeling better?" Mason asked me to which I nodded.
"Are you going to talk to me?" I nodded once again.
He got up and held my hands, making me get up.
"Tell me, baby." he whispered.
"H..He tried to ra..raped me." I cried out.
"WHAT?!" Mason yelled, furiously, "WHO?"
He took a deep breath to calm down.
"Wh..Where did he touch you? Did he.. did he do it?"
I explained every detail of what happened, managing to hold back the tears threatening to come out.
Mason's already red face turned even redder and fumed with anger. He held my hands and walked out, me following his steps from behind. We walked to his car and got in. I had no clue as to what he was trying to do, but... I trusted him.
Soon, his familiar house was in our sight. He parked his car and we entered his house.
"What are we doing here..?" I asked, quietly.
"We're going to make you forget everything that happened." he answered, taking out food from the fridge.
I smiled. The way to my heart was food. And surprisingly, he knew this. Who am I kidding? I eat all the time.
I looked around, remembering the memories of my last visit. And, I chuckled.
Mason turned around. "You're chuckling."
But instead, I heard him say, "You're clucking."
To this, I started laughing my ass off.
"What's so funny?" Mason asked.
I couldn't answer. I really didn't know why I was laughing so hard. But it felt really good. You know the type of laughter where you're unable to stop laughing, thus, you can't breathe and your stomach starts to hurt? Yeah, that was my current state.
Mason smiled, as he walked towards me. We embraced for the one hundredth time today, but, I'm not complaining.
"You're cute when you laugh." he told me, looking directly into my eyes.
"So, I'm ugly when I don't laugh?" I asked, my eyes focused on his eyes.
There was silence for a good 15 seconds.
"Did he hurt you?" he whispered.
"No..." I responded.
We broke eye contact and he pulled apart to grab the tray on top of the counter.
"Follow me." Mason ordered. We walked upstairs, into a bedroom.
"Lay down."
I hesitantly obeyed him. He put the tray in front of me and smiled.
I returned the smile and looked at the food in front of me.
I was hungry...
Mason laid next to me, "Why aren't you eating? Do you want me to feed you?"
"Ha-ha." I mocked him, taking a bite out of the muffin.
He lightly stroked my legs.
"Wh..What are you doing?" I asked him.
"Trying to remove his hand stains." his face looked so focused, it was hilarious.
"His.. hand stains?" I asked, maintaining my laughter.
"I'm replacing his touch with mine." he explained, rolling his eyes. As if it was the most obvious thing in the world...
