66. Mess

"What am I supposed to do, Chimmy?" Taehyung whined the next day.

"You got yourself into this mess, you should get yourself out," Jimin responded.

"Some friend you are! You're no help at all!"

"Well, at least I didn't try to blackmail you."

Taehyung shot Jimin a glare, but mad at himself for how things turned out with Bo-gum. If only he had paid him more attention, perhaps this wouldn't happen.

"Sorry, that was a terrible joke," Jimin conceded. "But other than trying to convince him again, I don't know what else you can do. Who knows? Maybe he'll change his mind if he still considers you as his best friend."

Taehyung heaved a huge sigh. "Well, I hope so. But I'm nervous. What if he goes through with it and exposes me?"

"But didn't you say, it was only an audio recording? If that's the case, then it could be anybody. You can always deny it when the time comes. How is he going to prove otherwise?"

"That's true. I played it back, and no names were being mentioned, so I guess that's a good thing."

"Are you sure you didn't replay it because of something else?" Jimin raised his eyebrows and earned a smack on his arm.

"I'm being serious here."

"Me too, Tae. I'm telling you there's nothing to worry about. Even if that happens, we'll back you up and vouch for you."

"Thanks, Chimmy, but I don't want to get you guys in trouble. If people found out we lied, it might turn out worse."

"Then you should have thought about it before meeting that man!"

"But...."

"Stop listening to your dick and use your head for once!"

"That's easy for you to say, Chimmy. You probably never felt this way before."

"Who says I haven't?"
