The Xiao Zhan

Beijing, China

"The Prestigious Wang Corporation, once again becomes the topic of hot search in the business world as Director Wang Jiang got awarded as the most influential business tycoon of China for the financial year of 2021" Scrolling through his feed when the sudden news popped up, the man dressed in black tuxedo smirked as he saw a very familiar figure receiving an award in a worldwide business meet.

"Don't you get tired of faking it like this, old man?"

A deep and intimidating laughter echoed in a big dark room as the mentioned man started sipping wine while tapping the glass table with his fingers, his hands covered with black leather gloves. Blood dripped down from his gloves as a man was pushed down on the floor in front of him.

The male chuckled again as he pushed his leg further into the other man's throat, blood constantly seeping out from his mouth.

"What a mess."

“YUBIN! Yubin!”

- in the bustle of his crowded store, the owner of The Xiao Shop called out for his assistant who was too busy in trying to flirt with a beautiful lady by showing off his designing skills which were not his to began with.

“Here! This is one of our limited editions but-” Yubin gave her a sweet endearing smile as he continued, “-if you want I can get it for you my lady." Yubin said as he carefully kissed the woman's hand, making sure not to make her uncomfortable. The lady blushed with the sweet gestures of this young man who kept on flirting with her, respectfully.

"YUBIN!"

The owner barked again as he scowled at his assistant from the first floor where he was standing with his hands full of the newly imported fabrics. His scream was loud but the bustle inside his store was louder and so, he again got ignored by his silly associate.

“I didn't sign up for this.” He sighed regretting some life choices, one of the few things he does on daily basis.

"You know you're like an angel on earth-" Before Yubin can further enlighten the customer with his flirting tactics, he received a tight smack on the back of his head, making him whine hard, as he rubbed his head pouting at his attacker.

"Ow- Cheng ge!”

Yubin said with a whine as he lowered his head in embarrassment.

"And what are you supposed to be? A disappointment?" ZhouCheng said with an irritated face as he held Yubin by his ears and turned his dumb head towards their boss who was looking dead inside at that moment.

"Huh?"

Yubin asked with his mouth was hung open. Seconds later, it struck him. He was ordered to help his boss in organising the new fabrics! Yubin quickly bowed to ZhouCheng chanting sorry and ran towards his tired boss. ZhouCheng sighed as he saw the younger running like some mad dog.

"Cute." he heard the lady from earlier saying with a sweet giggle which in turn made him more angry.

"Don't mind me miss, but our boss doesn't appreciate any slackers. I clearly saw you staring at our boss when he called out for Yubin but still you ignored it and didn't even inform him! Can I ask you why?"

"I- I just. Oh! I forgot that I have to go home now! ha-ha b-bye" the woman quickly walked away as Cheng gave her an eye roll.

"Bunch of weirdoes."

Sean Xiao Zhan stood with his tired body as he patiently waited for Yubin to wrap up everything. This was their last carton for the day and he can't help but get worried over everything. “Can't you do it a little more carefully?”

Xiao Zhan can't help it when he saw the last carton forming a little bulge at its end as Yubin tucked it with a duct tape.

Hearing those words, both Yubin and Zhou Cheng gave him a glare which instantly made the owner shut up. They can't be blamed. Xiao Zhan was a known perfectionist in the entire Xiao Shop and was a little too much obsessed with the words 'Perfect' and 'Organised'.

The whole store was aware of his antics and had to bear it by rearranging and rechecking everything until he is satisfied.

Only a month passed since he had overtaken the whole responsibility, but still the boy was a complete replica of his mother, Zhang Jingtong. The only difference was probably the level of strictness.Where his mother was strict as a metal, Zhan can't help but melt away easily. No, he doesn't let anyone slack but he still gives a lot more breaks between works.

Xiao Zhan sighed as Yubin finally packed everything and the assigned workers loaded it along with other cartons in the shipment vehicle. At last, Zhan signed few papers and the vehicle drove off towards the Wang mansion.

Wang mansion was an hour away from their shop and so, Zhan can't help but get worried again.

Xiao Zhan was both happy and scared when he got his first contract as the owner of his family business. Happy of the fact that he can finally show his skills on a collective scale and scared, because the contract was made by none other than the Wang Family itself. Everyone knows of how influential this particular family is. Business runs in their blood for generations. And for the time being, No company can rival against them in terms of national influence.

Their name is enough to give goose bumps but to Xiao Zhan, it was like walking on shrill glass pieces.

"Don't worry. Everything will be okay."

As Zhou Cheng passed by his boss Xiao Zhan he said so while tapping his shoulders in assurance. Xiao Zhan nodded, acknowledging his words but the worries inside his head didn't subside a bit.

It was his first time working with a big company, that too, the Wangs.

Till the last month, His mother Zhang Jingtong, used to handle all the big and important orders and so it seemed very cream on the surface but now, since Xiao Zhan has to do everything on his own, his previous assumptions got very much shattered. He sighed again as his chest felt heavy. He was tired, scared and nervous...all at the same time.

What If something goes wrong?

He doesn't wants to let his family name get ruined.

Xiao Zhan was still standing in his initial position, staring at nothing in particular as his workers moved from left to right doing their task. Few minutes passed, but he was still zoned out, accompanied by his thoughts, when suddenly his phone rang making him come back to his senses.

He instantly took it out as a sweet smile decorated his lips on seeing the caller, 'Shijie'.

“A-Zhan.”

A sweet, melodious muse registered against his ears as Xiao Zhan picked up the phone call.

“Shijie.” Xiao Lu was Xiao Zhan's elder sister who was the only woman after his mother that Zhan loved and respected from his heart.

"A-Zhan, Are you busy?"

Lulu asked as she heard a mild bustle around her little brother. Xiao Zhan instantly replied with a 'no' and told her that they were almost wrapping it up.

"That's good, you may be tired. Return home fast I will make you your favourite food." Xiao Lu beautifully chuckled as she heard Xiao Zhan giggle in response, which again, is a rare but beautiful sight.

Xiao Zhan, being an introvert he was, rarely conversed with people on his own. He likes his personal space a little too much and rarely let anyone invade his privacy. And that is why, when their mother decided that Xiao Zhan should overtake as the owner of the Xiao Shop, Lulu became pretty much concerned and was very worried for her brother.

Although, Zhan had always wanted to become a wedding planner taking after his mom and he instantly agreed to sign up for this position, his social awkwardness was still an issue for Xiao Lu's concern.

Especially now, as soon she has to leave her brother alone.

"Okay Shijie, I will try to come as soon as possible. Take care."

Xiao Zhan replied and cut the call on hearing a 'you too A-Zhan'. He sighed as he knows that his sister wanted to tell him something for a few days but always ends up hesitating.

The mere thought of his sister being uncomfortable or hideous with him pained his head. Was he rude with her? Did he do something that displeased her? All these irrational thoughts were clouding his mind again. "I want to sleep my worries away..l." Xiao Zhan thought but he knows that's not possible. His sister will talk to him today, and if she won't he will make her tell everything to him and that's final.

Twenty minutes passed and finally The Xiao's were nearing their closing time. Everything was wrapped up and soon the workers started leaving the place while greeting a goodnight and hearing a good work today in return from their boss. Zhan was always polite and greets them back with a bow, if necessary, and a thank you for their work.

"Goodnight boss, Take care!"

Yubin said as he bowed a straight 90⁰ and instantly skipped out of the place. "Goodnight Yubin, and don't be late again."

But Yubin was long gone.

Xiao Zhan shook his head in disbelief. He knows that even if Yubin heard him, that guy was still going to be late.

"Night Zhan."

Zhou Cheng was the last to leave. Being the temporary supervisor assigned by Zhang Jingtong herself, he needs to recheck everything before leaving the store. Xiao Zhan nodded his head greeting the other a 'Goodnight, take care A-cheng' for which he received a tsk and glare from the other.

"Don't call me that!"

Zhou Cheng said in annoyance to which Xiao Zhan gave him a cheeky smile. He can't help but tease his brother because of ZhouCheng's grumpy personality.

"This Brat..." Zhou Cheng mumbled to himself before speeding outside the store. Xiao Zhan chuckled at his antics as his mind wanders to all the similar instances.

He never changes, my Little Brother.

Xiao Zhan scrolled through his phone dialling his driver 'He Peng' and grabbed all the important papers he needs to check. Then he walked down the stairs coming at the ground floor and picked up his store keys from his office. One may wonder why he doesn't leaves with his brother. Well, because Xiao Zhan is not allowed to use public transportation and...

Zhoucheng only uses public transportation.

"Shit! Its Eleven o'clock already. I just hope that Ha Peng picks up my phone." No response. The call ended with a 'Drop a voice mail...'

"Hah, I knew it! How am I supposed to go home now?! Fuck my life." Xiao Zhan thought as he needs to leave immediately for his home, freshen up and then he has to talk to his Shijie as promised.

Xiao Zhan blinked tiredly.

He wore his mask, grabbing his keys and decided to walk till he finds a taxi or any kind of transportation.

No one will know

At first he did thought of calling Zhou cheng and ask him to come back so they can leave together but remembering how tired the younger was, Xiao Zhan gave up on that idea.

"He is still in college; I can't make him overdo it."

Xiao Zhan almost left his store when suddenly the main door was kicked open and twelve to fifteen men dressed in black invaded his workplace.

"What the- Who the fuck is you..."

Before Xiao Zhan could continue two of those men held him from his arms, kicked his knees making him kneel on the ground.

Xiao Zhan tried to look out for his phone but it was snatched and thrown away by one of them in seconds.

"You-"

His words were choked in his throat as one of those guys held a gun on his head. "No talking." He said as the man pushed his gun a little on Zhan's forehead, warning him to keep his mouth shut.

Shit! What to do? Is it a robbery? Mafia? What the fuck!

Xiao Zhan can't help but think about the worst. He scanned his surroundings and saw few of those men searching his store, disorganising his stuff making a mess of his beautiful place. Xiao Zhan felt a trigger in his head when he saw his 'perfect' place turning into a mess. His OCD was mild but it started kicking in once he saw the disturbance around him and he clenched his fists in pure anger along with hatred.

"Keep it back as to how it was."

Xiao Zhan said his head hung low as his hands become itchy.

The gun on his head was pushed more, warning him but this time, Xiao Zhan ignored it. Instead, he looked straight into the eyes of the one holding the gun and said in firm and dangerously deep voice.

"Keep it back as it was"

Looking at his redden eyes, the guy frowned a bit but didn't hesitate to slam his gun against Xiao Zhan's jaw. His lower lip busted as blood oozed out of his mouth. Xiao Zhan coughed with the impact, spitting out the blood on the floor.

The guy held Zhan by his hairs and jerked his head to face him. "Co-operate or I'll kill you."

He expected Xiao Zhan to get scared at his words but instead Xiao Zhan smirked as he spit the blood on his face.

"Fuck off bastard."

Xiao Zhan said as he kicked the one holding his left arm and elbowed the one holding the right. The guy holding the gun stumbled a bit but was soon thrashed down as Xiao Zhan punched him on his nose. Blood poured out of his ugly face as the guy hissed in pain. He tried to position his gun at Zhan but his wrists were kicked by Xiao Zhan as the other took the gun for his own.

Seeing the commotion, all the other men targeted Xiao Zhan but were shocked when Zhan shoot one of them in their thighs. He was looking insane, eyes bloodshot, hands trembling but at the same time was firmed around the metallic weapon.

"You all should have listened to my request..."

Xiao Zhan's voice came as a pleading but soon it turned to a warning.

"What should I do with you all now?" and then it turned into a growl filled with anger and hatred. His eyes moved from left to right in an insane motion as his smirk grew wider.

"I have to clean it up myself."

After that, whatever happened in that store was beyond anyone's expectations. 15 minutes later, Xiao Zhan exited his store, cleaning his hands with a handkerchief which he later disposed in the trash bin. He deeply inhaled and then exhaled a breath of satisfaction.

My beautiful store is...

Fixing his specs he wore his mask and then started walking away from there.

...finally Cleaned.

The Xiao Residence

Xiao Zhan finally reached his home after an hour. Ha Peng picked up his phone after nineteen plus rings and instantly apologised. He then drove to a departmental store and picked up Xiao Zhan who was busy playing candy crush on his phone.

To sum up, Xiao Zhan was finally home.

He instantly went inside from the back door as he was reeking with sweat and dirt which was making his body itch.Plus, he can't let his family members see him with such a disgusting look so he opted to bathe first and then show himself to anyone.

Fifteen minutes and he was out. Fresh, clean and satisfied, Zhan smelt of lavender and honey, his favourite body wash. He wore his comfy clothes and skipped down to the main hall where his family was waiting for him.

"Good Evening everyone."

He greeted them with a bow which made everyone sigh except for his mother. She was pleased that her son didn't turn out like a manner less brat. But at the same time, she didn't like the distance Zhan keeps between him and his family.

They are not his colleagues or seniors. They are family and so he needs to drop these formalities.

"Good Evening to you too, son."

Zhang Jingtong said as she stood up from her chair and gave his son a 90⁰ bow. Seeing her actions, her husband chuckled while Xiao Lu and Xiao Cheng shook their head.

Zhan immediately got embarrassed seeing his mother bow to him. He instantly held her by her arms in order to stop her from bowing any further.

"M-mom what are you-"

"Why? Embarrassed? That's exactly how we feel everyday baby. " she said while keeping her palm on her chest, trying to act hurt.

Xiao Zhan understood what his mother wants to convey and apologised for his formal behaviour which again, made everyone sigh including his mother.

"Seriously A-Zhan, you never change." that said everyone chuckled along with Lulu making Xiao Zhan fluster. He just can't help it. No matter who, he never let them break through his comfort zone which was a huge concern of Zhang Jingtong. She treasured her children.

Lulu is sweet and very sociable.

No one can resist her grace and almost everyone is friendly with her, admires and adores her.

Xiao ZhouCheng mostly known without his first name, that is, by Zhou Cheng, an alias he made to hide his identity in workplace, is grumpy and mostly irritated but still he gets along with people of his age and has a good friend circle.

Xiao Zhan, however, was a born loner.

From childhood he was socially awkward and hesitant to communicate with people. It's not like he can't but, it's just he doesn't wants to. Twenty four years of his life and Zhan has only made 4 friends. His subordinates, Yubin and Ji Jingyi, Yubin's elder sister- Meng Ziyi, and his college time mate, Zhang Xincheng. But he still doesn't have a friend circle. None of his friends know each other except for Yubin and Ziyi, well because they are siblings, and maybe Yubin and Jingyi, but again they can't be called friends.

His antisocial personality leads him to be a guy with Zero Love experience. No crush, No girlfriends not even a celebrity he adores. It's just He and his work.
But Xiao Zhan isn't an anti-romantic like everyone will say about him.

It's just he didn't find his one in a billion yet.

"Everyone, I have an announcement to make."

Zhang Jing tong's voice echoed at the dining table as everyone's attention went towards the lady boss of this household.

"I have fixed Lulu's marriage with Cao Yu Chen in three months."

Xiao Zhan ears perked up and instantly turned red in anger as he heard the groom's name. He immediately looked at his mother who surprisingly, was looking at him too.

Xiao Zhan frowned deeper as no one looked surprised with the announcement, even Zhou Cheng. They were instead looking at him with hopeful eyes, waiting for Zhan to say something. What's wrong with them? All his questions vanished as he saw his sister looking at him with teary eyes.

It hit him now, what she wanted to tell him from few days. No doubt she was so hesitant. He closed his eyes to calm his anger and again looked at his sister. She almost cried when Xiao Zhan spoke up.

"Do you really love him so much Shijie?"

She can't reply but just nodded in agreement. Xiao Zhan sighed. He can't let his personal grudge to come between his sister's happiness.

"Fine. But on one condition..."
Everyone tensed up. Even Zhang Jingtong, who rarely gets worried, had a stress mark on her forehead.

What was Zhan going to say? What condition? They were all worried.

"W-what condition?" Lulu asked with hesitant eyes.

"Let me be your wedding planner and remember, No discounts"

Xiao Zhan said with a smile that made everyone breathe in relief. Lulu instantly thanked him as she won't do anything which hurts her brother and seeing that he agreed to her decision, she was beyond happier than anyone ever. Zhan shook his head seeing his father hug Cheng and Lulu sitting opposite to him and celebrating.

Xiao Zhan looked at his mother sitting beside him who looked a little surprised. He gave her a smile before massaging her frown away with his fingers.

"It doesn't suits you Mom"

Zhang Jingtong smiled in adoration as she instantly pinched Zhan's cheeks.

"My baby is so mature."

They all knew that Zhan hated Cao Yu Chen because of his boasting personality but still he decided to change his mind just for his sister's happiness. This shows how much he loved his family.

Xiao Zhan pouted as his mother kissed his cheeks. "I am not a baby anymore mom"

"Oh dear, you will always be a baby to me."
