Chapter 9
I was talking with Pete and Brendon, the three of us laughing at some joke Brendon had said.
"Okay, so you have to basically be their maid? Do they make you wear a frilly little slutty maids outfit?" Pete asked, laughing at me.
I couldn't help but laugh along as I hit his shoulder.
"Dude, I would die before you see me wearing a dress," I denied.
The two of them laughed at me.
"Now I just imagine you dressed like a maid in a porno," Brendon said.
"Stop!" I exclaimed, pushing him lightly.
The two just laughed harder, making remarks about what kind of heels they thought I would wear. And, as it just so happens, that was when we heard a pair of heels clicking up to us, stopping behind me. I expected to see Jamia or Lindsey, but oh no, standing in front of me was none other than Gee Way. He was wearing the new dress his dad had bought him with a smile on his face as he waved. I couldn't help but cringe slightly, praying that he would just walk away now. I really didn't want him to get hurt.
"Hi!" Gee chirped happily, far too energized for it being so early in the morning.
"Go away," Pete grumbled.
"Do you like my new dress?" Gee asked, holding the sides of it to fan out the skirt.
Brendon tipped his Starbucks coffee cup forward, spilling the drink over the light colored fabric. Gee gasped, stumbling backwards as tears filled his eyes.
"Looks better now," Brendon remarked.
Pete and Brendon both laughed, looking at the dark brown stain that soaked the front. Other people around us started to notice the commotion and laugh too. Gerard was crying freely, hands futilely trying to wipe at the stain. He looked around when he noticed people laughing, looking up at me. He hurried forward, wrapping his arms around me as he sobbed.
"What the fuck is he grabbing onto you for?" Pete asked.
"I don't know," I lied, pushing Gee's shoulders lightly.
"They ruined my new, pretty dress!" Gee cried.
"Gee, you need to let go," I whispered.
Gerard merely shook his head, holding me tighter.
"Gee," I warned.
He whimpered, shaking his head. I pushed him a little bit harder, which seemed to be too forceful as he fell down to the ground, looking up at me with sad eyes.
"Hey, what the fuck," Mikey said as he hurried over, helping Gee to his feet.
"Frankie hurt me," Gee accused, pointing at me.
"Wh--C'mon, it was barely anything," I defended.
"Don't you dare ever lay a goddamn finger on my baby brother," Mikey threatened, a confidence surging through him that I've never seen before.
I raised my eyebrows, looking at him and crossing my arms with a small smirk.
"Yeah, what are you going to do about it?" I asked.
I saw Mikey's courage deflate slightly, but he looked at the crying Gee and then back to me with the returning anger.
"Don't touch him, ever," Mikey seethed.
Pete laughed at him, stepping forward.
"I think you should leave," Pete recommended.
"Come on, Gee, I'll walk you to class," Mikey said, all while still maintaining eye contact with Pete.
He turned to leave, Gee beginning to follow. But the small boy didn't just leave. Oh no, he stomped up to Pete, crossing his arms angrily.
"Meanie head," Gee spat.
I cringed as Pete hit Gee in the face with his fist. Gee cried out in pain, holding his cheek. Mikey turned around at the sound as the hallway fell into quiet whispers. Mikey reeled up on Pete, giving him a menacing look.
"What are you going to do about, fag?" Pete asked.
Mikey bit his lip, taking a deep breath and running a hand through his hair. Next thing we know, Mikey's fist was connecting with Pete's face. A crowd quickly formed around us, cheering and shouting. Pete jumped at Mikey, the two wrestling to the ground.
Gee clung to my arm in fear as he watched his older brother fight with the other boy. Brendon was laughing, cheering Pete on. There were groans of pain from Mikey as he was punched by Pete again and again. I felt a tug on my sleeve, seeing Gee looking at me with wide, sad, scared eyes.
"Please make him stop hurting my brother," he whimpered.
I sighed, stepping forward and grabbing the back of Pete's hoodie, pulling him off the boy. Pete laughed, seeming to have barely a scratch besides where Mikey first punched him. Gee immediately kneeled down beside his brother.
"Are you okay? You're not dead, are you?" Gee asked worriedly.
"Should be dead, fags like him deserve to burn in hell," Pete spat.
Mikey groaned in response, blood dripping from his nose and mouth.
"Come one, let's get out of here it's boring," Brendon said.
Gee looked up at me in panic, obviously needing my help. Instead, I followed my friends up the stairs to the second floor of the school. Lindsey was with Bob, the two leaning against some lockers.
"Where's your other half?" I asked, referring to Jamia.
"She had to talk to some teacher about some test she didn't do so well on," Lindsey said.
"Is she screwing him for a better score?" Brendon guessed.
"That's what she did for me," Lindsey joked.
"Next time that happens then call me," Pete said.
"Pete you can barely get one girl into bed, let alone two," I teased.
"You know what, I'll have you know that I do frequently have sex with girls," Pete stated.
"Yeah? When's the last time?" I questioned.
Pete bit his lip. "It was...well...fuck...just shut up."
We laughed at him and he crossed his arms, his fists still slightly covered in blood that was now drying. It made me think of Gee, how he looked so scared and panicked when I left him behind.
"Little Pete can't get with a girl," Lindsey mocked.
"What happens to the twins that one day?" I asked, remembering it was the first day Gee had arrived at this school.
"Turns out they just wanted to 'talk' with us," Bob said. "Something about how they didn't want to be just friends with benefits."
"You gonna start resorting to boys now that all the girls are avoiding you?" I asked.
"I'm not fucking gay," Pete denied.
"Yeah, well you clearly haven't been with a girl since, like, freshman year," Bob said.
"It's not my fault all the girls here are just prudes," Pete said.
"I think it's just that red fucking stripe in your hair that's a huge turn off," Lindsey said.
"My red stripe looks badass," Pete defended.
"You look like a myspace emo guy," Brendon said.
"You all look like myspace emos," Pete said.
"Yeah, but you are even more than the rest of us," I said.
"Dude, Frank, you're the one with all the tattoos," Pete said.
"I'm eighteen, I can get tattoos whenever I want, you still need your mommy to take you to get them," I teased.
He scowled at me, crossing his arms. "At least I have a mommy, I've never seen yours. Is she too busy sleeping around?"
My amusing feeling was quickly dropped. I stopped smirking, glaring at him.
"Don't you dare fucking talk about my mother," I spat, pushing him.
Pete pushed me back, looking just as pissed off. I raised my fist, just about to punch him when Brendon grabbed my wrist.
"Hey, chill out you two," Brendon said. "Just stop talking about Frank's mom, and Frank stop bragging about how you're the only one who's eighteen."
"I'm gonna be eighteen soon," Bob pointed out.
"Shut up, Bob," Pete and I both said at the same time.
He held his hands up in defense, turning to chat with Lindsey. Brendon sighed, letting go of my wrist. The minute warning bell went off through the speakers. I turned around, heading to my first hour class. Jamia was already there when I headed in, sitting at our usual seats in the back.
"Morning," she muttered.
I nodded in response, sitting at the desk beside her. I leaned back in my seat, running a hand down my face.
"Tiring night?" Jamia guessed.
"Something like that," I said.
After the Way's house, I had hurried home. My pants were quickly ditched when I had gotten up to my bedroom. And, oddly enough, I had thoughts of Gee momentarily while my hand was wrapped around my erection. That, for a fact, has never happened before. With anyone, actually, my thoughts have always been filled with imaginary people, nobody I actually know.
"I tried talking to the teacher, did you know I have a C minus in this class?" Jamia asked.
"How the hell would I know that?" I asked.
"I don't know, you seem to know everything else about me, seem to know every inch of my body," she said with a wink.
I smirked, resting an arm on the back of her chair.
"I'd love to see it again," I said. "Especially naked and sprawled out on my bed."
She blushed, biting her lip. The teacher walked in, writing the date on the board like he always does.
"Maybe we can meet up after school," she suggested.
"I can't, I have things to do after school," I said, busy with going to the hospital and going to work for the Way's.
As I thought of that, I thought of Gee's distressed looks when I had left him alone with the hurt Mikey in the hallway.
"Hm, maybe you can skip next hour then?" She suggested.
And with those words, I completely forgot about Gee.
"The locker rooms are empty after everyone goes into the gyms," I agreed. "Nobody would even be able to hear you over the sounds from the gym."
"Well then, Frank Iero, you are a lucky, lucky boy," she said, reminding me of what I thought of Mikey the other day. "Good thing for you I'm wearing a very sexy pair of underwear."
"It might be sexy but I'd much rather see you in nothing at all."
