Chapter 35
LAST CHAPTER
We can leave this world, leave it all behind
We can steal this car if your folks don't mind
We can live forever if you've got the time
You can run away with me anytime you want
~~
I got to Gee's house and heard yelling from inside. I got out of my car and hurried up to the front door. Luckily, they must've forgotten to lock it with all the chaos. I stepped inside and followed the sounds of the voices.
"You are leaving for boarding school first thing tomorrow morning and that's final!" Donald yelled.
"No! I won't go!" Gee screamed.
"Well you certainly aren't staying here with that punk boy, nothing but bad things has happened since he came around," Donald said. "And you are far too young to be with a boy like him. He is reckless and bad, you could find a boy who is so much better."
I ran into Gee's room, seeing Gee sitting on his bed while his parents packed his clothes into a suitcase. He was still wearing his red plaid skirt with a black sweater and black thigh highs with black ankle boots. His makeup was smeared and hair all messy.
"Frankie!" Gee exclaimed.
He jumped up and hugged me, holding me tight to him as he sobbed.
"What the hell are you doing here?!" Mr. Way shouted.
Gee looked at him and held my hand. He pulled me to leave but Mr. Way grabbed his other arm.
"You are not leaving this house," he said.
"I wanna be with Frankie, I love him," Gee cried.
"You are not going with him," his dad stated.
Gee tugged his arm but Mr. Way wouldn't let go. Gee cried, letting go of my hand and shoving his dad. Mr. Way let go and stumbled back, looking at his son in shock.
"I-I'm sorry, I love you," Gee whispered to his parents.
He took my hand and started running again, grabbing his backpack on the way. We ran out to my car, getting in and driving to my house quickly. As soon as we pulled into my driveway, we were inside my house as fast as possible. I went to my room, shoving clothes and other necessities into a bag. I went to the kitchen, throwing some food into another bag frantically. I saw Gee standing there, his arms wrapped around his middle as he cried. I stopped what I was doing and stepped over to him, resting a hand on his shoulder.
"Are you okay, baby boy?" I asked. "What's wrong?"
"I-I hurt my dad," he whimpered.
"Oh baby," I sighed, kissing his forehead. "You didn't really hurt him, it was just a little push. If you hadn't done that then we wouldn't have been able to get out and we won't be able to run away, okay?"
Gee sniffled and nodded.
I smiled and gave him a kiss. "Come on, princess, let's go."
I grabbed my bags and looked at Gee still standing there, looking at me hesitantly.
"What's wrong now, sweetheart?" I asked.
"I-I'm just a little nervous," Gee said, his voice sounding a little shaky.
"How about I go put the bags into my car and we can cuddle," I suggested. "We can leave anytime you're ready."
Gee nodded and I stepped outside of the house. I shoved the bags into the trunk, along with Gee's bags before heading back inside. I held onto his hand, leading him to the couch. I laid down and he laid on top of me, face buried into the crook of my neck. I heard my phone chime as I picked it up, seeing I had a new email. It was from my doctor, saying I was clean of an STD.
"Baby, I don't have an STD," I said in relief. "If I don't have it then that means you don't have it either."
Gee picked his head up and looked down at me.
"Really?" He asked.
I nodded and he smiled, giggling quietly.
"So no more doctors?" He asked.
"No more, babydoll," I confirmed.
Gee snuggled against my chest lovingly, leaning up to kiss my jaw. I smiled, kissing his forehead and stroking his hair gently.
"I love you, daddy," he muttered.
"I love you too, baby boy," I replied.
Gee giggled happily, wrapping his arms around me. He leaned up, giving me a gentle kiss. I smiled into the kiss, gently caressing his cheek.
"You're so beautiful, my sweet little princess," I praised.
He giggled, a soft, pink blush dusting his cheeks.
"I think I'm ready to--"
Gee was cut off by a harsh knocking on the door. He jumped, looking at me worriedly. I stood up, lifting him off my lap and onto his feet. I walked to the door with Gee tailing behind me. There was a knock again when I opened the door. Two police officers were standing on my front porch, one of which I noticed was the one that investigated me. Officer Lakeman, I'm pretty sure his name was.
"Frank Iero," he stated, stepping into the house. "You're under arrest. You have the right to remain silent. If you do say anything, what you say can be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to consult with a lawyer and have that lawyer present during any questioning. If you cannot afford a lawyer, one will be appointed for you if you so desire."
I shook my head, grabbing Gee into my arms. We clutched each other tight, both of our hearts racing in worry. They tried to pull me away but I never wanted to let go.
"Sir, resisting arrest will only make this worse," he said.
Gerard cried when they tore us apart and he pushed me face first against the wall, latching handcuffs on my wrists. I heard Gee beginning to panic, but from this angle I could only see his plaid skirt.
"Why?" I asked, cringing as the metal bit into my wrist.
"This boy is sixteen years old, which is under the age of consent and you are over the age of eighteen," he stated.
"No!" Gerard cried. "No! Don't take him!"
The officer pulled me away, guiding me through the door. This can't be happening, I can't be taken away from Gee. He's the only person I have left, without him I'm all alone. I need Gee, he's everything to me.
"Frankie!" Gee called.
He wrapped his arms around me, holding me tight. My arms instinctively went to wrap around him, but that only brought pain to my wrists from the movement. I wanted nothing more than to hug him.
"Sir, let go," the officer that held my elbow ordered.
Gerard shook his head, holding me tighter as he cried harder. The other cop pulled him off me, with a significant amount of struggle. When he was finally ripped from my arms, I felt like my heart was being ripped out too.
"I love you, Gee! Don't you forget that!" I shouted.
They pushed my head down to get into the car. The door slammed shut, separating me from the one I love. I looked out the back window as the cop let go of Gee, who was struggling in his grip. The police officers got into the car, starting the engine up and beginning to drive off. I watched with a breaking heart as Gee started chasing after the car until we got too far for him to catch up. He dropped to his knees, his body shaking as he sobbed and his figure got smaller and smaller.
I sat straight, tearing my eyes away from the terrible scene. My heart was pounding in my chest. The worst part of this wasn't the inevitable fact that I would be imprisoned. I didn't care about what they would to to a guy like me in prison. The hardest part of this was just leaving him. There was a pain in my chest that I've never felt before, an aching that ripped me from the inside out and made me wish I would rather be dead. My chest felt like it was tightening, it seemed to be getting so much harder to breathe in this small car. My hands were shaking as I tried to take deep breaths.
I couldn't help but think of everything I've done in my life, like it was all flashing before my eyes. How much I was a downright shitty person. I've done so many stupid stuff. I don't even know why I did everything I've done. Why did I spend high school terrorizing Mikey? Why'd I sleep around so much? I've just been so fucking awful, I've spent it all just smoking, drinking and partying. I would neglect Gee, only going to him for a good fuck. And the things I said to everyone was just so awful. I've been nothing but rude and inconsiderate. Except to my mother. Oh god, what would my mother think if she knew what I really did? She would be so fucking disappointed in me. I'm so disappointed in myself.
Maybe if we had just left right away then we'd be free, free to be together happily forever. I wanted to leave quickly but Gee seemed so nervous and scared to leave. I knew it was more important to calm him down before we left because doing that on the way would be harder, he might have even changed his mind and wanted to turn around. Maybe if I had just picked him up and carried him to the car, despite his crying, then we'd be on our way right now to California. Maybe we would've just gotten far enough so they couldn't find us, we could've just lived a happy, quiet life together in a cute little house in California, maybe get married and adopt a cute little kid or two. But those things aren't gonna happen now.
And so I sat here in the back of the squad car, letting the tears fall freely down my face while the handcuffs bit into the skin of my wrists, thinking about the pretty boy in the plaid skirt.
