Chapter 31

Eventually, Gee had to leave. I feared for how his parents would react when Mikey tells them he skipped school. I never told Gee that I loved him. Yeah, I said it while to him while he was sleeping, but I couldn't say it to his conscious face. Everytime I opened my mouth I felt like I could throw up. My stomach would start twisting with nerves, the kind when I was little and I was scared to tell my mom the truth when I had broken something because I knew I would get in trouble.

I was afraid that if I told him I loved him, then everything would just become so much more real. Like if I were to utter the words then I would be so much more attached and when he left it would be a million times harder. He had told me he loved me when he left, looking at me hopefully. I tried to say it, I really did, but I just couldn't bring myself to do it.

I wanted to tell him so badly. I'm going to tell him. I'll tell him today. As soon as I get the chance I'll say it to him. I'd do anything to put a smile on that sad boy's face. The smile that used to be there all the time when he first moved here, but now it wasn't there as much. After all the beatings and name callings he isn't as happy-go-lucky as he used to be.

"Mr. Iero," the teacher said, pulling me out of my bubble of regret. "Please pay attention in my class."

I looked at the board, wondering when we were getting out of here. I was hoping that maybe Gee would just skip with me again so we can spend time together before he's gone. I only have about 4-8 days with him, days that were so precious and special and I didn't want to waste them. I wish these days were endless.

Once the bell finally rang, I was heading down the hall to where Gee's classroom was. Unfortunately, however, Mikey was already there. He looked at me and scowled, crossing his arms. He still wasn't very confident, but around me he was. Maybe because he knows I'm going soft, or maybe because he knows I won't touch him because if I do then that'll make Gee upset with me.

"Fuck off," Mikey said.

"Mikey, please, just let me talk to him," I said.

"I can't let you," he stated.

"C'mon, man, please I just want a moment with him," I said. "I just need to tell him something."

Mikey shook his head. I looked into the class and saw that they were being held after the bell by the teacher. Gee looked sad in his black sweater with a dark purple skirt and black tights with black boots. I know he tends to wear outfits to match his mood, and his outfits just keep getting more and more depressing.

"Mikey, your little brother is sad, really sad. I don't want him to get as sad as you," I said, glancing down at his wrists as he frowned and pulled the sleeves of his hoodie down. "Please, Mikey, I can help make your brother happier."

Mikey seemed to think about it when he gave me a sour look. "He'll be happier once he realizes he's better off without you. He doesn't really love you, he's 16, he's just infatuated by you and he'll move on so quickly."

I scowled, trying to hide the fact that I was worried about whether he was just infatuated.

"I bet you two don't even really know each other, all you ever do is fuck people," Mikey said. "Tell me, what's his favorite animal? His favorite food?"

"Kittens and grilled cheese sandwiches," I answered confidently with a smirk.

"No," Mikey denied, shaking his head. "It's bunnies and chicken tenders."

"That doesn't mean we don't know each other well," I said. "I know that he hates needles and..."

I drifted off when I couldn't seem to think of anything else. That's all we usually do, we just fuck. Maybe I'm wrong, maybe I don't love him. Maybe he doesn't love me either. We hardly even know each other, we couldn't possibly date if we don't know each other. I think that I just love the idea of him, I don't really love him. I love having someone for myself to fuck, someone to call me daddy and do what I say. Not him as a person, I don't love him.

I turned and walked away, cursing myself quietly. I hadn't been paying attention much when I bumped into someone. I looked at Brendon while he frowned at me. I glanced to Pete, who immediately looked away.

"Well, haven't seen your faggy ass in a while," Brendon remarked.

I wasn't even in the mood for this. I started to walked passed them but stopped next to Pete.

"I thought you were better than to do that to someone, man," I said.

We both glanced at Mikey across the hall, who had Gee next to him to walk him to his next class. I didn't say anything more as I walked away.

"What the hell is he talking about?" I heard Brendon ask Pete.

I continued down the hall to the bathroom in the East hall, the most unused bathroom. I stared at myself in the mirror, just thinking. Because I don't think I love Gee, maybe I'm just forcing this idea onto myself that I do because I know it'll make him happy. And Gee is so young, how is he supposed to know what love is? He's just infatuated with me, after he goes to boarding school then he'll just forget about me.

I ran a hand through my hair, fixing it up and heading back out to my next class, which is going to start before I get there. Ms. Rose ignored me as I walked in late for history and sat down at my desk. I noticed Pete and Brendon snickering at me. I soon found out why and when I looked at my desk, it had the word 'fag' carved into it in the corner. The teacher wasn't looking when I flipped them off, which only made them burst out laughing.

"Excuse, Mr. Urie and Mr. Wentz, is there something you'd like to share with the class?" Ms. Rose asked.

"Yeah," Brendon said. "Frank's a fag."

"Office, now," Ms. Rose ordered.

Brendon laughed and grabbed his bag as he walked out of class. The teacher gave Pete a warning look before turning back to the board. I glanced at Mikey, who was looking at Pete sadly. Pete seemed to not notice, or just be plain ignoring him. But when Pete did look at him I saw something in his eyes. He looked like we were kids again when we passed by the pet store and his parents wouldn't let him get a puppy. He would have just really big, sad eyes as he looked at the puppies through the window while his bottom lip jutted out and he tried not to cry.

But Pete quickly covered up that look, glaring at Mikey. I found at the sight, realizing that Pete really does have feelings for Mikey. And then it hit me like a brick over the head when I realized that his relationship with Mikey was like mine with Gee. I liked him deeply but was afraid of disapproval and just acted so horridly towards him in response. It was sad, really, that society has made us so afraid to be ourselves we'd rather beat up other people who have done nothing wrong just to hide ourselves.

Mikey looked down at his lap, a rubber band around his wrist that he snapped against his skin. I didn't want this really. I wished people could just be themselves without worrying about their parents or anyone else. I wish that kids wouldn't get beaten by their own parents like Pete had when he came out. I wish that I could be with Gee without anyone else interfering. Without his parents freaking out about me.

But all in all, I understand why they don't like me. After all, the first time we met was when I was drunk and vandalizing their house. I've beaten up both their sons. I've possibly given their youngest son an STD, and a pretty bad one at that. One that can actually result in death and isn't a pretty sight. I've said the stupidest things to his dad, granted I was drunk for some of it. I pushed his buttons just to make him mad. And my piercings and tattoos probably aren't making them happy either.

They probably want Gee to be with some nice, clean-cut boy who is an honors student and is going to Harvard to become a doctor. They don't want him with some stupid punk kid who can barely afford milk sometimes and has no plans for the future. Honestly, the only thing I have going for me is my grades. I may be smart but I never did clubs or activities or volunteering that would appeal to colleges. I don't even have a job for god's sake. I've tried to but people usually reject me for my tattoos and piercings. They're also not hiring at hot topic so I couldn't work there either.

The best thing I'll probably get in my life is a job at McDonald's. Well no, the best thing I'll get in my life is Gee, but that's really not gonna last much longer once he leaves. I don't think he would like that as much, though. If he were to be with me, he's have to be apart from his parents completely. He wouldn't get their fancy cars or lots of money. He would have to live like me, on welfare and trying to make a living. I don't think he'd adjust well to being poor, he was born with a silver spoon in his mouth, after all.

I felt my phone vibrate in my pocket and I went to hang up on whoever was calling me. However, I panicked and answered due to who was calling me.

"Frank? It's your mom, she isn't doing so well, I think you need to come here."
