in silence I stand

I have fallen by the wayside

The tattered banners 

colors faded 

are motionless in the still air

The endless road, now ended

vision impaired

no option

but to turn back

The many voices

excited once

are but whispers

fading on a dying wind

I struggle now, alone

emptiness

now fills me

in silence I stand
