Come Away Melinda

She turned each page slowly

Black and white memories

Her fingers touched each memory

As it trying to capture the moment

Each moment frozen in time

Captured eternally for her to revisit

A tear rolled down her cheek, onto a memory

And for a second the memory cried with her

Her mother's eyes, sad, looked back at her

She whispered softly, "I miss you."

She closed the pages of memories

Sat in silence for a while

It was over now, all the horror

The death and destruction

Her father touched her lightly on the shoulder

She looked up at him, "I miss her."

He smiled, a smile only barely hiding the pain

"Come Away Melinda. It's time to go."
