"I want to explore Paris with a beautiful girl."
* * *

Percy took Annabeth's hand and dragged her outside the restaurant.

The most beautiful sight greeted them out of the doors in a welcoming gesture. The night was sparkling with lights from modern looking buildings. Vehicles were driving past and the river Seine (correct me if I'm wrong) flowed down in the near distance.

The glittering Eiffel Tower, lit up with hundreds of lights, stood not too far off. It was imposed in a position that declared self importance above all others, as though it knew that it's beauty could never be rivalled by the city below.

Percy watched as Annabeth stared on in wonder, enjoying this very rare moment of speechlessness from her.

She looked beautiful in her green dress. A string of pearls rested against her throat and her blonde hair whipped at her face in the wind. Her face was morphed into that of marvel and shock.

"It's- gods of olympus Percy, it's beautiful."

"Not as much as you." Percy commented. Maybe the fact that they were in the city of love was influencing his choice of words somehow.

In the light of the barely visible moon and the glittering buildings, Percy thought he saw her blush. "Shut up Seaweed Brain."

Her eyes drifted up to the outline of the Eiffel Tower. She opened her mouth to say something but Percy interrupted.

He smirked at her knowingly and took her hand. "We have until midnight." He reminded her. "That's hours from now."

"Fine." Annabeth said, giving in. "Where do you want-"

Her eyes suddenly caught something and Percy, following their gaze saw what it was.

As expected, it was a bookstore. A hardcover titled 'Architecture en France' was displayed in the glass window.

Annabeth dragged him towards it. Percy groaned as they entered it. "Annabeth, we're in Paris and you want to go into a book shop? It's worse than a library! At least the books in those are for free and-"

Annabeth shoved his shoulder and picked up the book. She walked towards the lady at the counter who smiled and shot at her in rapid French. When she finally realised that Annabeth wasn't French, she switched to a highly accented English.

Percy rolled his eyes and just happened to look outside the window. There was another shop just opposite this. A jewellery shop.

He looked back at Annabeth and decided that she probably wouldn't miss him if he disappeared for a few minutes. He quietly slipped back out the door and entered through the ones in the other store.

A tingling bell rang off somewhere in the distance but the front desk was empty.

The whole shop glowed in a faint pink aura, illuminating the bracelets and the many necklesses.

One bracelet in particular brought Percy further into the little building. It was a thin bracelet. A strip of silver and a separate strip of midnight blue had been twisted together very tightly. It had small lettering on one side reading, Je t'aime.

Percy didn't realise there was someone else behind and he nearly jumped right out of his skin when he turned around.

Standing there was a tall woman, lit by a pink glow. She had long curly blonde hair that reached her waist and her eyes were so much like Annabeth's Percy nearly thought it was her. But she looked different somehow. Familiar.

"Perseus Jackson." She said silkily.

Usually, when someone - specifically a stranger - used his full name, Percy knew he was in trouble. His hand crept towards his pocket where Riptide was but the woman laughed airily before Percy could even speak.

"Oh no need to slice me, my dear. You may find that you won't be able to." She peered at the bracelet Percy had been looking at. "Now, if you don't mind me asking, do you have a special someone in mind to give this to?"

"Uh..." Unwilling, Percy's eyes swept to the window across from which Annabeth was still smiling and talking with the sales lady.

The strange woman in front of Percy followed his gaze through the glass pane. "Ah." She said knowingly. "She's the one is she?"

Percy snapped back into his senses. He took his ball point pen out of his pocket. "Who are you?"

"Je m'appelle Déesse de l'amour. Et toi-"

"Uh, lady I don't speak french."

The woman laughed again loftily. "Of course. I call my self Déesse de l'amour. And you are Percy Jackson."

"How did you know that." Percy asked, rolling his pen around in his palm. If she was a monster, he should be prepared. If she was a freaky stalkerish mortal, well he should be prepared for that too.

But this woman looked so familiar. Maybe it was because she looked so much like Annabeth but he didn't think that was it.

It could be Athena in disguise but Percy really doubted that the goddess of war and battle stratergy would roam around jewelry shops in Paris babbling french... he could however also think of another goddess who would quite gladly do such things.

That would also explain the whole pink aura.

"Are you a goddess?" Percy asked, deciding to be blunt.

The woman laughed lightly, almost floatily. "Am I? Gods and goddess did take the forms of mortals in ancient times did they not?"

"So you are a goddess."

"That depends upon you, hero." She replied. "Would you want me to be a goddess?"

"Not really. Right now, I just want a nice night out with my girlfriend."

She looked at him in amusement. "Love is beautiful isn't it? It brings people together and it drives people apart just as easily. Now tell me, do you wish to get something memorable for your girlfriend?"

"Uh..." Percy yet again glanced at the bracelet without intent.

"It is a marvelous creation." She said, now looking at the bracelet. "Do you know what Je t'aime means, hero?"

"No." Percy admitted, letting his guard down a little.

"It means I love you. Three of the strongest words entwined within the one sentence." She turned her piercing grey eyes onto Percy. "Do you think it possible to love someone so much you would never want to let go?"

Percy opened his mouth to answer, maybe to dodge the question but found that he couldn't. With a dry throat, he replied, "Yeah, I guess."

The woman's eyes sparkled like Annabeth's when she started talking about angle bearings and structures. But the smile was like Percy's mother when she starts lecturing him on 'walking his date to the door'.

"It is yours then." She said with finality, and disappeared in a flurry of pink glitter.

Percy felt something in his pocket. When he pulled it out, he saw that it was a thin grey box with a blue ribbon.

Okay, sure. Why not? A strange woman appears behind him, talks about how awesome love is and disappears into pink sparkles leaving Percy with a box.

He felt someone looking at him from across the street. Annabeth was staring at him suspiciously.

He grinned at her and shoved the box and riptide back into his pocket, hoping this wasn't just some crazy trick that could get them both killed.

* * *

"What's in your pocket?" Annabeth demanded when he met her again outside the book store. She had decided not to buy the book it seemed because it was back in the display case.

"Riptide." Percy answered her swiftly. He learnt never to hesitate after Grover. "I thought that lady was a monster so I followed her into the shop. But she was just a creepy sales lady."

Annabeth didn't seem to buy it but Percy took her hand. "You wanna take a cruise along the Seine?"

Annabeth laughed and dismissed all her suspicions. "Alright seaweef brain. Trust you to pick the water bodies."

"Trust you to pick the bookstores."

Wondering through Paris with Annabeth was amazing. They walked past cobble stone streets and beautiful gardens full of flowers and trees.

But none of those beauties could even think about comparing to Annabeth.

They had barely started dating a month ago but Percy was scared he was already falling in love. Or maybe, he was only just realising how in love he really was.

With thirty minutes to spare, they headed to the eiffel tower. It's brilliant golden lights flashed in to the night.

They climbed it to the very top until the whole city lay around their feet like a glittering blanket and strings of light thrown over a bed.

The chilly wind whipped at their faces. Amnabeth's hair was bellowing all over her face. She pushed it back behind her ear like she did when she was nervous.

"It's beautiful." She whispered.

"Yeah." Percy agreed. But he wasn't looking at the city. He was looking at her. Her golden locks and stormy eyes-

Percy realised suddenly that Annabeth was shivering. Her dress obviously didn't provide much warmth.

He kicked himself for not realising sooner and quickly took off his jacket. It was very clichè but Annabeth was cold.

As he draped it around her shoulders, she laughed and gave him a sideways smile with twinkling eyes.

Percy put an arm around her to bring her closer and she rested her heas on his shoulder.

"Percy?"

"Yeah?"

"This was an amazing anniversary," Then she added, "Even though you totally forgot about it."

"I didn't foget it!" Percy protested. "I just- sort of..."

She laughed. "Shut up and hold me for a while, Seaweed Brain."

"Okay." So Percy shut up and held her for a while. But with each second that passed, the box in his pocket grew heavier and heavier until he couldn't ignore it anymore.

"Uh...Annabeth?" He stammered nervously, pilling away from her warmth. "I kind of have something for you. It's uh..." He broght out the box and gave it to her.

"Oh gods, Percy. You didn't have to."

"I did."

Annabeth opened it and took out the bracelet. She studied the words incripted into the metal and looked in astonishment.

"Percy- I-"

"Je t'aime, Wise Girl."

Annabeth flung her arms around him. "I have no idea what that means but gods of Olympus, I love you."

She kissed him and Percy thought he would never be able to think straight again.

He was only vaguely aware of a clock striking midnight somewhere in the distance and a flash of light building up around them.

When they pulled away, they were standing on the streets of New York right outside Annabeth's boarding school in regular clothing again.

The night was pattering with rain and bracelet was still in her hands.

She slipped it onto her wrist and gave Percy another quick kiss. Then she turned around and ran for the shelter of the school.

"Hey, Annabeth?" She turned around, a few feet away. "I love you too."

She smirked at him and disappeared into night.

Too cheesy? ;)
