Hazel Levesque is an absolute legend for many reasons. At thirteen, she gave her life to delay the rise of the King of the Giants, then formed part of the Seven and fought in the Second Giant War.

On a different note, she actually shares a few similarities with Thalia Grace. Think about it. They can both manipulate the Mist to some degree, are Big Three children, and have a half-sibling from the other camp.

Both of them grew up with a resentful, selfish, and borderline unstable mother. Beryl Grace was an alcoholic TV actress who made sure she was always in the tabloids. She met the king of the gods not once, but twice, and they were the only times where her behaviour improved. She asked for immortality and eternal beauty from Zeus/Jupiter. She craved attention, and she got it at the expense of her two children, who didn't get the care that they needed.

Marie Levesque, similarly, made a selfish wish. She asked Pluto to give her all the riches of the Underworld, which resulted in Hazel getting cursed. Queen Marie had always said "I deserve better", not stopping to think that her daughter did too. Her anger to Pluto was taken advantage of by Gaea, and Marie dragged Hazel to Alaska so she could "live like a queen" and get back at the gods for her unfortunate. A difference was that Marie does realize her mistakes in the end, no longer calling Hazel poisoned, but precious.

Another similarity between Hazel and Thalia is the choice they ended up facing. Hazel gave up her life to make sure Alcyoneus didn't rise during World War II while the gods were distracted. Thalia gave up her current life and friends to delay the Great Prophecy, knowing that she may not be able to resist Kronos's temptations again.The two of them were intended by Kronos and Gaea to bring on the end of Olympus, but both rejected the opportunity to get back at the gods, who they had many reasons to resent.

So here we have two Big Three children, who on the surface are very different. But Thalia and Hazel aren't heroes because of their powers, but because they survived neglect and did not become so bitter that they won't make the right decisions.
