I'm No Cinderella

The type of plot this book has is my favourite. Shy, bullied protagonist gets closer with her crush at a high school party, with a bit of mystery mixed in. What made the book even better was that it was a Percy Jackson AU, even better a high school one.

The writing style was excellent and the chapters were long, something I love. Annabeth acted just like canon, as did the other characters and was so relatable. I loved reading the book, trying to figure out who S.A was, and was shocked to find out it was Thalia! I kinda suspected her, but it was still a shock.

The ending had me completely shook when Annabeth found out it was her. I was most surprised to find out that Piper knew all along! It was insane that they betrayed her like that.

I really hated Helen, Annabeth's stepmother, at the start, because she seemed so mean to Annabeth and it simply wasn't fair, but at the end when she hugged her it was so emotional. Turns out she was nice all along and an actress! That was really unexpected.

The bonding scene in the graveyard between Annabeth and Nico was so adorable. Annabeth finally opened up on what happened to her Mother, and Nico about his feelings for Percy. It was so well written, and the flashback scene sent a chill down my spine.

I really loved the friendship aspect from Annabeth and Reyna. Reyna is such an awesome character and her becoming friends with Annabeth made me so happy.

One of my favourite tropes in this book was the babysitting trope. Annabeth's brothers are so adorable as is Percy's sister. I found it so adorable when they all hung out together.

Annabeth being bullied by Drew felt so real in this novel. People who bully are typically jealous of their victims, and Drew is definitely jealous of Percy and Annabeth's relationship. When Percabeth broke up because of Drew, I was so upset. I think it hurt me more when Reyna started shouting at Annabeth for breaking up with Percy. It seems everyone hates Annabeth and it's so sad.

When Percy and Annabeth won prom King and Queen, right after they broke up when they still weren't talking, I was so scared. When they danced together I knew that they must get back together. And I was right!

The ending made me happy with everyone happy and friends again, Annabeth even getting the chance to go to her dream school. It honestly all ended on such a satisfying note.

Overall, I found this book amazingly written and very enjoyable, it was very hard to find anything wrong with it. I wish Leo, Frank and Hazel had a bigger part but it's hard to juggle many characters in one story. I highly recommend this book to anyone who is a fan of Percy Jackson it was such an excellent read!
