"(Y/N), are you ready yet?!?" A masculine voice called from down the stairs. You grunted as you frantically put on your eyeliner in front of a small mirror.

"I'm... almost there!" You shouted back, moving onto your second eye. Just a simple swipe of eyeliner and-

Two warm hands grabbed your bare shoulders and squeezed them gently. Not expecting him to come upstairs just yet, you jumped in the air, instantly ruining your eyeliner. You whirled around to face your cute Latino prom date, shouting profanities in his face.

Leo Valdez chuckled as his eyes trailed from your curled (h/c) hair, to your dark plum dress, all the way down to your silver sandals, and then back up at your face, which currently had a zigzag of eyeliner traveling down your cheek.

"What are you doing here?" You asked him incredulously, giving Leo a glare.

"I just wanted to see how my girl was doing." He responded with the tiny smirk that never failed to get on your nerves.

You sighed dramatically, and turned to face the mirror again. "I could've been naked for all you know!" You protested as you grabbed a makeup remover wipe and began taking off your eyeliner.

"All the better, am I right?" Leo whispered in your ear, making you shiver. You turned around again to face him and placed your pointer finger on his chest.

"Don't even THINK about it, mister." You scolded him, while straightening his matching maroon tie.

"Mhm... I love you too." Leo chuckled as he planted a soft kiss on your forehead, but recoiled away in disgust. "What IS that stuff you put on your face?" He spat, wiping the foundation and blush off his lips.

You rolled your eyes and faced the mirror once more, putting the finishing touches on your face. "It's called makeup, flame-boy. Ever heard of it?"

Leo held his callused hands up in defense and backed away slowly from you. "I guess I'll give you a little more time to get ready." He laughed, walking out of your room slowly.

You couldn't help but catch a glance of him right before he walked back downstairs.

Hot dam, Leo sure looked cute in a suit.

Placing your hand in Leo's, you nervously walked into a room flooded with high-schoolers. Music blasted throughout the humongous area, and strobe lights flashed on the ceiling.

"Remind me why asking me to your school's prom was a good idea?" You hissed to him, desperately trying to ignore the glares you received from a multitude of girls.

Leo glanced at you with upturned eyebrows, his soft brown eyes gazing into yours. "Because," he began, "I wouldn't want to go with anyone else. It just isn't right, and nobody here is anywhere near as fun as you are."

You sighed with satisfaction, and at the same moment, Leo pulled you into his chest.

"Ready to dance, mi amor?" He wiggled his eyebrows at you and carefully placed one hand on your waist and the other in your hand.

"Oh, I don't think I'll ever be ready for this." You joked, tucking a curl behind your ear.

"What? Are my dance moves too intense? I can slow it down. Just let me know if I'm making it too difficult for you." He teased and gave you a quick wink.

Your eyes widened in realization as you shoved Leo away, muttering curses. "Let's try to get through tonight with as little of the dirty remarks as we can, how about that?" You offered, trying to hold back your laughter.

"I'm making no promises." Leo said, grinning mischievously. "I'm sorry, you just look too gorgeous for me not to."

"You flirt terribly, Leo, you know that?" You lied.

"Aw, come on (y/n), you know you love me." Leo pulled you closer to him and whisked you away on the dance floor.

You shook your head and laughed as Leo proceeded to jump up and down to the fast-paced music, shouting the lyrics like a maniac. His mop of curly brown hair was covered in sweat, and fell onto his forehead. He grinned happily at you, mouthing the lyrics, and motioned for you to sing too.

If you can't stop him, join him. The voice in your head decided. And besides, you couldn't exactly say no to that face. Since when could Leo pull off the sexy sweat covered look?

You couldn't seem to come up with an answer as you faced Leo and shouted the next set of lyrics in his face.
His face lit up and he grabbed your hands tightly. The two of you jumped around the dance floor, pulling off the most insane dance moves.

Others may have been giving you two strange looks, but it didn't phase you. You and Leo seemed to be the life of the party.

(Start playing the song) Don't read fast! The timing needs to be right!!!!!

After what seemed like hours, the DJ decided to put on a slow song. The strobe lights dimmed and all the couples began to slow dance together.

"Alright... I'm going to go get some soda." Leo panted as he began to walk towards the table of food and drinks.

"Not so fast, flame-boy." You smirked and caught hold of his arm. "You owe me a slow dance."

Leo faked his surprise. "Since when???" He asked you.

"Since now." You replied, and pulled him closer to you.

Leo sighed jokingly before placing his forehead on yours. You faked disgust when his sweaty face came in contact with your forehead.

"What's wrong?" He asked you, his eyebrows furrowing.

"You're covered in sweat!" You protested and stuck your tongue out at him.

"Oh, stop complaining and dance with me. You wanted that, didn't you?" Leo's mouth quirked up into a smile.

"Fine." You responded with the smallest bit of a smirk. The things that boy could do to you. Gods.

As the slow music continued, you closed your eyes. The soft music lingered in the air as couples leaned into each other.

But it was almost impossible to focus on them, with Leo holding you so tightly. All you could concentrate on was Leo. Every little movement of his made your heart flutter, and you seemed to loose all sense of direction in his arms.

"(Y/n)?" Leo asked quietly, interrupting your thoughts.

Your eyes shot open to gaze into his dark brown eyes. "What is it, Leo?"

Leo paused for a moment, his eyes gleaming. He held up his hand, waiting for the song to get to the part he wanted.

"I can't help falling in love with you." He sang to the music and gave you a twirl. You giggled and spun straight into his warm chest, as he wrapped his arms around you.

"Like a river flows, surely to the sea..." You murmured.

"Darling so we go, some things were meant to be." He sang back in your ear.

Take my hand, take my whole life too...
'Cause I can't help falling in love with you.

You tilted your head back to look up at Leo, at his gentle, warm face. Sure, he could be extremely annoying at points, but times like this made them worth it.

"Gods, I really do love you, (Y/N)." Leo whispered. "That's something that will never change. Never. You hear me?"

You closed your eyes and nodded, breathing in the moment, something that could've been taken out of a fairytale.

"I love you too, Leo. No matter what." You told him, sighing happily.

"Good." Leo said, and swiftly whirled you around until his lips came in contact with yours. The warmth of his mouth sent a current running through your body. You softly kissed Leo back, not able to hide the smile that crossed your face.

And just like that, the kiss was over. The two of you pulled away slowly and gazed up into each other's eyes, grinning from ear to ear. It was a moment unlike any other.

Leo wasn't just a simple boyfriend. He was your best friend, your home, your love. And you were never going to let him go.
