Percabeth Childbirth
"Percy!" Annabeth cried late one night, grasping her husband's arm.
"Huh? What happened?" Percy muttered sleepily.
"The baby's coming," Annabeth panted, her forehead already beaded with sweat.
Percy was up in an instant. He ran around the bed to gently pick up his pregnant wife, who groaned at the movement.
Together, the two hurried down the stairs and out to the car.
Once Percy got Annabeth situated, he jumped into the driver's seat, started the car, and almost plowed over a tree in his haste to get out of the driveway.
"Ten minutes," he said to Annabeth, who was wincing from the contractions. He offered her his hand to hold onto, and she gripped it with a hand of steel.
"Ugh!" Annabeth groaned as Percy swerved into the parking lot at the hospital.
"I gotcha," he said as he parked and ran around to help Annabeth out of the car.
He scooped her up and rushed her inside.
"Help me! My wife's going into child labor!" He yelled as he ran into the reception area. The nurse behind the desk picked up a phone and spoke into it before running around to help Percy.
A second later, a team of nurses came running down the hall with a gurney. Percy eased Annabeth into it, then took her hand as they ran back down the blinding hall to the delivery room.
The nurses started running around the room, preparing stuff and yelling instructions at each other.
Percy just knelt by the gurney as Annabeth's face contorted with the contractions, which were beginning to come more frequently. He gripped her hand and whispered 'I'm here. I'm not gonna leave.'
"Sir? We're ready to proceed," the doctor said, pulling Percy's attention away from his wife.
He nodded and stood up as the nurses prepped Annabeth.
"Ma'am, do you want to take any morphine?" One of the nurses asked. Annabeth just shook her head in response, her teeth ground together in a snarl of pain.
"Alright, we're set to go. On my count, I want you to push, ok?" The doctor said to Annabeth, she nodded her head, panting.
"One, two, three, push!" The doc yelled.

About two hours later, they were still at it. Annabeth was drenched in sweat, and her stormy grey eyes were clouded over in pain.
"I see the head!" One of the nurses yelled, catching the attention of everyone in the room.
"Come on, honey! You've got this," Percy said, on the verge of tears. He hated seeing his beautiful wife like this.
"Alright, almost there! The head is almost out!" The doc yelled. One of the nurses ran over to Annabeth and started to push on her stomach.
Then, a baby's cry split the air.
Annabeth sagged against the gurney, exhausted and relieved.
The nurses bustled around the room, cleaning the baby and wrapping it in warm cloths.
"Congratulations, Mr. and Mrs. Jackson. Your son is perfectly healthy," the doc said as he pulled off his blood stained gloves.
"Thank you, Dr. Fields," Annabeth croaked.
The nurses stopped fidgeting, and one of them stepped forward to present the baby to the happy couple.
Annabeth stretched out her arms for her son, tears beginning to roll down her flaming red cheeks.
"He's beautiful," Percy whispered, staring at his child as if he were the last person on earth.
Annabeth looked up at him, a proud look in her eyes.
"How about Luke Ethan Jackson for his name?" She said softly.
Tears rolled down Percy's face as he looked at his family. Gods, he loved the sound of that.
"Yeah, it's perfect," he said, kneeling beside his wife.
"Here," Annabeth said, holding out the tiny bundle to her husband.
He stood up and took his newborn son in his arms.
"I'm never going to let anything bad happen to you," he said softly to the sleeping figure in his arms.
Annabeth watched the two, pride and love swelling in her heart. She was lucky to have such a supportive husband.
Then Percy's phone rang.
"It's probably my mom," he said as he eased his son back into Annabeth's arms. Then he stepped outside the room.
"Hey mom," he said, shoving his free hand into his pocket.
"Percy, I got your message. Is everything alright? Was Annabeth hurt? Please tell me you guys are ok." Sally said anxiously.
"It'll be easier to explain in person. Just come to the hospital and I'll show you everything, ok?" Percy replied, trying to keep from smiling.
"Alright, we'll be there in about ten minutes," Sally said, and then hung up.
"Hey honey?" Percy said poking his head into the room. "I'm gonna head down to the front office for a minute. My mom's coming in about ten minutes."
Annabeth nodded, never taking her eyes off her child. He was just so small. How could something so tiny be alive?
About a couple minutes later, Percy came back and reached out for his son.
"Percy?" Sally said, bursting into the delivery room several minutes later. She stared at her son's back, then spotted Annabeth on the gurney.
"Oh honey," She began, stepping toward the blonde.
Percy turned around, stopping his mom in her tracks.
"Oh my goodness!" She cried, tears of joy springing to her eyes. She dropped her purse and ran forward to take her grandson. Paul chuckled and gave Percy a hug, telling him congratulations.
"Oh my goodness!" Sally exclaimed all of a sudden.
"What?" Percy cried, his body suddenly reenergized.
"His eyes!" Sally almost whispered in awe.
Percy rushed over to see what his mother was talking about. What he saw took his breath away.
Blinking in the harsh light, two sea-green orbs, identical to his fathers, took in their first sight of the world.
Sally moved back to the gurney, where Annabeth lay, still exhausted. Slowly the baby was transferred back to his mother's arms, and when Annabeth saw her son's eyes, she gasped a little.
Percy came over to rest his head against his wife's as they gazed at their beautiful creation, oblivious to the world around them.
