kyling is attempting to call you

with a deep sigh colton pushed the lime green button, his breaths getting faster with every second as tears fell down his face. kyle didn't say a word, he just listened to colton's sobs, not knowing what to do.

"hey," kyle finally said, his low pitch voice reaching the ears of the younger teen. "it's okay, just take in deep breaths."

"it's not okay," colton nearly screamed at the phone, hitting the balls of his palms onto his forehead. "i just told you i loved you and you are saying it's okay?"

"is anyone home?" kyle questioned.

"no. my mom is visiting my grandmother in oklahoma and my dad is working the late shift if he even bothers coming home," colton answered. "why?"

"ill be over in like twenty minutes, okay?" kyle asked.

"i guess. im sorry, kyle, for all of this," colton sighed as he wiped his eyes with the tip of his blanket.

"don't say sorry, we just need to talk."

colton told kyle to just let himself in so he did. the penthouse the rivera family was paid by colton's father who was a well known plastic surgeon in gotham. it was large and grand, and the living room where colton was sitting on a leather recliner, looking up at a mounted flatscreen tv, a marvel tv show on freeform playing.

colton was cuddled up, a fluffy pink blanket he had gotten from his secret santa last year. kyle walked over to him and climbed onto the chair, colton looked up at him with a surprised look.

"this is what you want, right?" kyle asked.

the brunette boy shifted in his spot, making room for kyle. the two boys cuddled together for a moment before talking.

"when you lost your first game," colton finally spoke up. "that was when i started to fall for you. the way you held yourself was something else. you didn't have shame, but pride. yes, you just lost but you also won something. the courage to keep playing."

kyle chuckled to himself and held onto the other boy tighter. "when you stood up for maps that one day. that's when i started to notice you."

"wait, you like me back?"

"yes, but i'm not gay. i'm just curious and you have caught my eye. you, so far, have been the only real male to have attracted me."

"what about jhope?"

"well he is my only hope, but he doesn't know who i am and i also don't know him personally. i know you personally and i have to confess to falling for your bad boy charm."

colton couldn't believe what he was hearing. not only did his crush, that he has had on this boy since he was in freshman year, like him in a romantic manner, kyle also called him a 'bad boy' type. it was almost as if he was dreaming.

"kyle?"

"yes?"

"is this a dream?"

kyle looked down at the now shying away colton who he has always known to be loud and proud with every moment. as he shifted his position to face colton a slight blush came to his face, he never kissed a boy. he only ever had kissed olive and some girl named gina but that one didn't count because that was in daycare and maps dared him to do it.

when the boys' lips met it was a rush. for kyle it was going against everything he had ever done before, he was always the 'good' child who was going to marry a nice korean girl and have children and never think about going towards the 'rainbow'. colton on the other hand was finally kissing the boy he had liked for three years, loved for one.

the sound of a doornob forced kyle to push colton away and he jumped up from his spot on the chair. he turned to face an angry faced mr. rivera.

"leave kyle," colton whispered, his voice shivering with fear.

"no," kyle defended. "i'm not leaving you, he's going to hurt you."

"it's fine," colton smiled sadly taking kyle's larger hand. "i get hurt by him all the time, and this time i won't care. i have you."

"leave," mr. rivera bellowed, anger and hate laced in his voice.

kyle barely got into the elevator and he could already hear the dirty slurs and the sound of colton being slapped.

his heart broke. he knew he should have stayed, but the smile colton gave him was so full of love, bravery, and courage he couldn't say no.
