Chapter 23: Coming Home

*Mo's POV*

The next morning Ez and I woke up late thanks to her shoving me out of bed last night. We brushed out our hair and headed to the kitchen where all the guys and all of our Pokemon sat eating breakfast. So Ez decided to make a grand entrance.

"LISTEN UP LADIES!!!!!!!" She cried. Everyone jumped and looked at us. Jason and Ryan fell out of their chairs. Ez then grinned and lowered her voice. "We have a plan."

This caught everyone's attention and they sat attentive. "Well let's hear it." Sky said.

"Where did we get our items?" Ez asked rhetorically. "Our parents right? Why don't we go talk to them. See if they know anything."

A lot of the guy looked down sadly. Ez and I looked at each other.

"That's... A nice idea Ez... Only..." Sky trailed off.

"Mommy and Daddy... Are..." Ty tried to finish.

"Say no more." I said softly. "We're sorry."

"It's not your fault. But you still seem like you want to do this." Sky said.

"Well... Our parents are still alive in our village. We can go talk to them." Ez replied.

"That is probably our best option." Seto said. "Would you or more importantly your mothers mind if we came with?"

Ez and I looked at each other. "I'm sure they'll be fine with it!" I said cheerfully to lighten the mood.

The guys smiled. "When do we leave?" Jason asked.

"Whenever your ready!"

It didn't take too long before the guys got ready to leave. With our Pokemon in their pokeballs we headed out. We were heading home. We went outside and looked around. I didn't know how to get home from where we were.

"Hey Sky, do you remember how to get to that Pokemon center in the plains?" I asked.

"I think so! Follow me!" Sky called and led the way.

"We're gonna get lost..." I heard Mitch mutter.

"I know where it is too." Ez said and led the way with Sky. At least two people remembered where we were going. Let's just hope they don't get us lost.

To my surprise and I think everyone else's Sky and Ez led us to the Pokemon center without getting lost. That's amazing.

"Hey Sky you didn't get us lost!" Mitch said patting Sky on the back.

"Of course I didn't! How dare you doubt my navigating skills." Sky replied with a grin.

"I think we all did." Ty said softly but loud enough for everyone to hear. Making everyone laugh.

"Wow. Thanks Ty."

Ty gave an innocent smile and hugged him. Sky chuckled and patted his head.

"Ok I know the way from here." I said. "So follow me and Ez."

Ez whooped and we led the rest of the way to our village. Ty walked between Ez and Sky holding their hands which was adorable. Mitch and Jerome were being goofballs and walked like a march with their arms linked together. I smiled and led the way with Ez.

After awhile it started getting dark. But that also meant we had to be getting close to our village. I could feel it.

"Are we almost there?" Jason asked.

"We should be." I replied.

Ez let out her charmander to lead the way. Out of the corner of my eye I saw Zorua, who was on Ty's shoulder, jump onto his head and sniff.

"What is it Zorua?" Ty asked petting it.

"I... I smell smoke." It replied.

"That's probably charmander." Ez said.

Zorua made a small whimpering sound not looking so sure. Ty looked concerned. Sky rubbed his shoulder. Ty looked up at him.

"Don't worry buddy." Sky said.

Ty nodded slightly. Sky pulled him into a one arm hug and rubbed his shoulder. Ty smiled and seemed to relax a bit, while Zorua still seemed worried. I paused and decided to sniff the air. I smelt the smoke as well.

"Quentin." I asked quietly.

"Yeah?" He replied.

"Does a charmanders tail really smell of smoke?"

"No. It's just a flame it's not burning anything to make smoke."

Ez stopped walking and looked at me. We locked eyes. We needed to hurry.

"C-come on." I said nervously and take off sprinting towards our village. I prayed it was just a family throwing a large bonfire. That the worst case scenario was not the correct scenario. Ez could see me starting to panic and she grabbed my hand and we ran faster. The others following closely behind. Soon we saw a light. We ran towards it and Ez and I had made some ground between us and the guys. We sprinted towards the light and skidded to stop.

My heart stopped and a rush of different emotions ran through me. Panic. Fear. Sadness. I felt Ez's hand start to tremble as she squeezed mine.

Our village. Our home. Was on fire.
