"...Boo"
"Huh?" Luca said as Asri narrowed her eyes.
"Wait a minute..." she said slowly.
She recognized that voice. The person inside the suit reached up and took off the helmet, revealing the head of another sea monster.
"It's fine. I'm not human" he said.
"Oh! Thank goodness" Luca said, relieved.
"Alberto. It's been a while" Asri stated as she crossed her arms.
"Heh, good to see you too Asri" Alberto replied, looking at the female sea monster.
"I forgot you had this...hunk of junk" Asri stated as she swam forward the flick the chest part of Alberto's sea suit.
"Hey! This 'hunk of junk' has kept me from getting spotted by the humans. Also, who is that?" Alberto replied in a defensive tone before taking notice of Luca, who had swam out from behind Asri.
"That is my little brother" Asri said.
"Huh. Here, hold this" Alberto said, lightly tossing his harpoon.
Luca instantly stiffened into a board as the weapon floated over him, making Asri roll her eyes as she grabbed it and went out of the cleft, motioning for Luca to follow her.
Outside, Alberto had pushed himself out of the sea suit and grabbed the music device.
"Asri, who is that?" Luca asked Asri quietly.
"That, is an old friend of mine. Well, not old, he's a couple years older than me. But still, we've known each other since I was five" Asri explained.
While she was talking, Alberto went around collecting the things that Luca had dropped.
"So, uh, do you live around here?" Luca asked him.
"Down here? No, I just came for my stuff. Oo-hoo!" Alberto replied before he picked up Luca's herding stick and swam off with it.
"Hey! That's mine!" Luca cried before quickly swimming after the purple sea monster.
"Luca! And he's gone. Ugh, boys" Asri said before taking off after the two.
She caught up with them when they were almost up to the surface.
"Alberto, I think your forgetting something" she said, lightly shaking the harpoon she was still holding.
"Oh yeah! Thanks beautiful" Alberto said in a flirtatious tone as he took the harpoon and swam backwards onto the land.
That parts of his body that were under the water stayed the way they were, but what was above the surface, changed. Asri sighed as her cheeks turned a slightly darker shade of green.
It was her way of blushing.
She turned and started swimming away.
"And now we head back to the fish pasture before we- waah!" Asri was cut off when something was hooked around her midsection and forcefully yanked backwards, pulling her out of the water.
Asri landed on her side on the rocky sand with a harsh "Oof!".
"You know, you didn't have to do that" she lightly snapped at Alberto as she felt herself change.
Instead of being green with scales and a tail, she now had tan colored skin along with long wavy dark brown hair. Her pupils had also changed from being sharp to round circles.
Alberto shrugged at her before he stuck Luca's herding stick back into the water. After a second, he grunted and gave another hard tug, bringing up said sea monster.
Like Asri, Luca also changed to a human form. Unlike Asri, he panicked and flailed around.
"How long is that going to go on?" Alberto asked Asri, tilting his head towards Luca as he sat down on a rock.
"Give him a couple seconds" Asri sighed as she watched her brother, who was still flailing around on the ground.
Finally, after a couple seconds came and past, "Oh my fucking god. Luca! Your okay! Jeez!" Asri said to her brother, who stopped flailing.
Alberto had been watching the whole time with an amused expression plastered on his face.
"First time?" he asked, looking at Asri, who nodded.
Alberto looked back at Luca.
"Hey, relax. Breath" he said in a calm tone.
Luca, who had started hyperventilating, slowed his breathing down a bit.
"There we go" Asri said gently.
She leaned over to Alberto.
"This is not going to last, I assure you" she said.
Luca 'whoa'd' as he took in the sight of land for the first time.
"Well? Isn't it great?" Alberto asked, catching the young sea monster's attention.
"No! It's bad! I'm not even supposed to be up here! And neither are you Asri!" Luca said before he rolled back into the ocean, changing back into his sea monster form.
"Good day!" he said before diving back under the water's surface.
"Oh, brother" Asri sighed as she sat down, cross legged.
Alberto also sighed as he glanced at Luca's herding stick and lightly rolled his eyes. He stood up and walked towards the water, stopping at the water's edge.
Alberto turned the stick around so the the straight part was over the water. After a couple seconds, Luca came up and grabbed it, making Alberto let go.
"Thank you" Luca said, a bit stiffly before diving back into the water.
Alberto was about to turn around, but Asri stopped him.
"Wait, he's gonna come back here in a sec. Watch" she said.
So Alberto stayed and stared at where Luca had disappeared. Sure enough, the blue sea monster popped his head back up.
"And g-good day. Again" he said before disappearing under the water again, making Alberto smile slightly and Asri huff with laughter...
Later at night, Luca laid on his back with his arms crossed behind his head. He turned over to look down and saw Asri curled up in a ball.
The way her ribs rose and fell slowly told Luca his older sister was fast asleep. And one thing he knew about her, she did NOT like being woken up.
So, he looked over and saw his grandmother was still seemingly awake.
"Grandma? Did you really go up to the-" Luca started to say before he was cut off with a very loud snore.
The young blue sea monster left it at that and went to sleep. However, that was exactly what Asri was waiting for.
She uncurled herself and went around the room, collecting a few things and putting them into a large bag that she kept hidden from everyone. Then she swam off into the dark ocean, her glowing blue eyes making it easier to see in the dark waters.
Asri glided through the water effortlessly, her webbed hands holding on to the strap of the bag that was slung over her shoulder. She eventually reached her destination.
It was the sand clearing where she had first met Alberto. She settled herself down right in the middle and waited for a couple minutes.
What she was waiting for soon became apparent.
"I totally knew you were going to come here" said a voice from the shadows of the rocks.
Asri perked up and looked behind her to see two familiar glowing green eyes. She smiled slightly as the purple sea monster revealed himself, her tail twitching slightly with happiness and excitement for tonight's adventure.
"Also, can you help with me with something?" Alberto asked as he came up beside the green sea monster.
"Really? What do you need help with?" Asri asked, giving him a sideways look.
"Can you help me find the directions to your heart?" Alberto asked in a flirty tone.
Asri went quiet for a second before she burst out in a small fit of giggles.
"Oh my god, so we're doing this again!?" She giggled before turning and beginning to swim off.
Alberto wasted no time in following her, throwing out flirty comments and pick up lines that had Asri laughing and blushing a deep dark green.
"What's that in your eye? Must be a twinkle"
"Alberto..."
"I know there are a lot of fish in the sea, but your the only one that caught my eye"
"Alberto, please!"
"Your so beautiful that you made me forget my pick up line"
"Please stop!" Asri managed to get out through her laughter.
The purple sea monster chuckled a bit as Asri tried to calm herself down.
"Oh dear God, what the hell am I going to do with you?" she asked.
"You can bandage my knees..." Alberto started.
"Alberto. No" Asri told him, even though the corners of her mouth were already turning upwards to form a smile.
"...cause I hurt them when I fell for you" Alberto finished.
Before Asri knew it, Alberto was dishing out even more pick up lines that left her wheezing and snorting with laughter.
"Alright, alright, alright! Stop so I can breath here!" She wheezed.
Alberto laughed a bit, but stopped with the pick up lines.
"Oh my fucking god, I hate you so much" Asri said once she calmed down.
"Aww, you know you love me" Alberto said teasingly.
"Do I though?" Asri asked before she swam over to the purple sea monster.
She set down her bag and flicked his nose gently before taking off, her tail rapidly swinging from side to side.
"Your it!" She called.
"Why you little-get back here so I can return the favor!" Alberto yelled before he chased after Asri, who yelped and sped up.
She may have been the fastest swimmer in her family, but since Alberto was stronger, bigger, and more experienced, he was able to catch up with the green female sea monster.
Asri yelped when she felt his scaley arms wrap around her midsection. Then he stopped moving so that he became a dead weight.
Asri quickly figured out that she was gonna have to stop swimming so that she could try to pry Alberto off of her. She didn't even realize she fell into his trap until she felt his tail warp around hers.
Making it harder for her to swim away.
"Dammit Alberto, let go!" She cried, but her tone held no fear or discomfort.
Alberto smirked and playfully growled as he tightened his grip.
"Mmmmmmnnno!" He said, nuzzling Asri's neck.
"No?! Why?" Asri asked.
"Because, if I let you go, then I couldn't do this!" Alberto replied before he began to scribble his webbed fingers over Asri's sides, making her laugh.
Hard.
"Jeez! I just barely started and I've already got you going!" Alberto chuckled as he lightly pressed harder and moved his fingers a bit faster...
A couple hours later, and the two young sea monsters were lying in the sand clearing. After Alberto's tickle torture, the two played a couple more rounds of Tag, then after they rested up a bit, they found a boat, and due to Asri's fear of them, Alberto went ahead to collect some more human things, which he later showed off to Asri after she helped him get untangled from the fishing net he got himself stuck in.
Now, the two were laying in the sand underwater with Asri curled up to the point her tail tip almost touched her nose, while Alberto laid on his back with his scales arms crossed behind his head.
He had a thoughtful look on his face as he turned his head to look at Asri. He started taking in small details that he hadn't noticed before, like the blue scales that were more vibrant than her green ones.
He also noticed that the blue scales were arranged in wave like stripes that covered her upper arms, back, upper legs, and went along the top half of her tail. Alberto's eyes then travelled to the end of Asri's tail, where they quickly focused on the torn webbing and pale green scar that showed on both the top and bottom of the tail.
Alberto softly sighed as the events of that day replayed in his head. He felt bad and somewhat guilty for just standing, well, floating, there while he watched Asri get attacked by the humans in the boat.
"Um, hey, Asri?" He said softly, sitting it up in his elbows.
All he got in reply was a soft release of breathe as Asri breathed out a bit in her sleep.
"And your asleep. That's alright. I can talk to you in the morning" Alberto said to himself before he settled back down on his back.
Then, he allowed sleep to overtake him...
