Early one morning, Zane crept into Pixal's room with a smile on his face. He'd just finished getting the Bounty ready for Pixal's self-proclaimed birthday. "Snowflake?" He shook her gently and she rolled over lazily.

"Hmm?" She mumbled and drew a deep, sleepy sigh.

"I have a surprise for you. Hurry, we must leave soon if we are to arrive in time." He pressed a quick kiss to her forehead and swept out the door with a smile. He peeked his head back in to give her one last bit of instruction. "Oh, and dress nicely."

Confused, Pixal rolled out of bed and got dressed in a simple purple dress with silver leggings. She didn't know it was her "birthday" quite yet, since the team had decided to give her a surprise party instead. She ventured outside into the hallway, where Zane surprised her by appearing out of nowhere and taking her hand, giving it a quick kiss.

"Close your eyes and hold my hand," he told her a second before he slipped a black bandanna over her eyes. He grabbed her hand and led her into another room.

"Zane, what-" Pixal tried to ask what was happening, but Zane quieted her with a finger to her lips. Rolling her eyes even though he couldn't see, she agreed to stay quiet. She followed his lead by squeezing his hand while he led her through the halls of the ship. Eventually, he stopped and let go. She waited anxiously while his footsteps went all around her.

"Alright, here we go." Zane unknotted the bandanna and slipped it off Pixal's eyes. A second later, she gasped.

"Oh my goodness!" A whole table of food and presents were set up in the game room! The whole team was waiting there for her! "What is all this?"

"Happy birthday Pixal!!" They shouted in unison. Only then did Pixal glance at the date. February 28. Today was the 4 year anniversary of the day she was brought online!

"We decided to plan a party for you because first of all, we had no clue when your birthday was! Second, because Cole wanted cake! Aaaaand drumroll please..." Jay patted on his legs with a grin, "because Zane talked us all into doing this because he's way head over heels for you! Surprise!" Pixal grinned.

"That is incredibly sweet! Thank you all!" She grabbed Zane's hand and gave him a kiss on the cheek, to which he beamed with a dreamy smile. Nya aww-ed and nudged Jay. It was so rare to see them do anything beyond holding hands, so this was a treat!

"Now, before we get into all this lovely food, I have a little adventure I planned for Pixal and me. We shall return within a few hours--just make sure everything is preserved properly." Zane told them and squeezed her hand.

"Oh? Whatever could this surprise be?" Pixal asked with a little smirk and raised her eyebrow. Zane was always creative with what he came up for them to do as activities together. He mimed zipping his lips and pointed to the table, where a piece of red string was taped to the edge.

Pixal went over to grab it and realized it ran a lot longer than she thought it did. "Just follow the string!" Zane told her and motioned for her to go follow it. He clicked play on a speaker in his arm and while Pixal followed the string down the hall, he began to sing.

[Zane:]
You've never had a real birthday before
Except, of course, the one you spent inside of my head
So I'm here way too late to help you celebrate
And be your birthday date if I may...

"Achoo!" His sneeze surprised Pixal, who was examining a piece of furniture for a note. She pursed her lips and made up lyrics to go with what he was singing.

[Pixal:]
Zane, I am thinking you might have a cold

Zane waved her off and sniffed, putting a smile back on his face.

[Zane:]
I don't get colds. Besides...
A cold never bothered me anyway

"Just follow the string!" He repeated and held his hand out to her. She accepted it and he tugged her towards the door to the top deck. They swept onto the deck where he gestured for her to dance with him.

[Zane:]
I've got big plans, I've got surprises for today
Nothing but nothing's gonna get in our way
I've worked for weeks, planned everything within my power
I even got Kai, Cole, and Jay to take a shower

Pixal laughed as he spun her around and away. She stopped spinning to see him holding a purple flower out to her. She smiled and took it, putting it in her hair. Zane coughed but covered it with a smile and more singing, pulling out his shurikens and transforming it into his Snowmobile.

They zoomed up a mountain, where gentle snowfall surrounded them. When they reached the top, Zane motioned to where the sun was rising. The stars, moon, and sun were all visible at once. He threw his arms out to the side and grinned.

[Zane:]
If someone wants to hold me back
I'd like to see them try
I'm on the birthday plan attack
I'm giving you the sun, the moon, and the sky

He motioned for her to get back on the vehicle and Pixal climbed onto the back of the Snowmobile. Zoom! Now they were off to...where were they going? She clung to his back and enjoyed the wind rushing over her metal as they sped towards their destination. Finally, they pulled up into the heart of Ninjago City. He dispelled the vehicle and held her hand as he tugged her through the city.

When they got to Borg Towers, he pointed to another red string on the door. With a smile, she ran towards it while he sang from afar.

[Zane:]
I'm making today a perfect day for you
I'm making today a blast if it's the last thing I do

I'm making today a perfect day for you

"Achoo! Achoo!" Pixal definitely noticed his sneezes that time, he thought with a grimace. Oh well, no matter. He'd just have to...have to...where was he going next?

[Pixal:]
They come in threes!

Pixal commented and walked back to him, reaching up to check his temperature. Maybe they should go back? Zane waved her off again, swaying a little on his feet.

[Zane:]
I'm fine...achoo!

Little puffs of snowflakes fell from above every time he sneezed. Ugh! Now he was determined not to let her day be ruined by his sneezing! He had to go bigger! "Come on! This way!" He exclaimed and grabbed her hand again.

He motioned to all the little notes he'd left along the string as they followed it through the city. Each note was left at somewhere where they'd spent a lot of time, like his statue or Chen's Noodle House (though he made sure that one had a very nice note).

[Zane:]
Surprise, surprise this one especially...achoo!

[Pixal:]
Wow! You've got me reeling, but I'm still concerned for you
I think it's time that you go home and get some rest

[Zae:]
We are not stopping cause the next one is the best...ah...achoo!

[Pixal:]
Zane, you've got to go lie down

[Zane:]
No way, we have to paint the town

[Pixal:]
But you need medical attention

[Ronin:]
Are you sick? How 'bout a cold remedy
Of my own invention

[Zane:]
No thanks

[Pixal:]
We'll take it

A swarm of citizens appeared around them, all singing along with Zane's song. Pixal's eyes widened. He had orchestrated all this just for her? Zane smiled at her and motioned for them to sing.

[Citizens:]
We're making today a perfect day for you

[Zane:]
Making today a special day

[Citizens:]
We're singing a birthday song to make your wishes come true

[Zane:]
Wishes come true

[Citizens:]
We love you, Pixal

[Zane:]
And I love you too

[Citizens:]
So we're making today a perfect day (A fabulous day in every way)

[Zane:]
Come on! Now we climb!

They were moving through Borg Towers and he sang that line while they were on the elevator. He leaned against the back wall and laughed weakly. Pixal creased her eyebrows and added her own lyrics again.

[Pixal:]
Zane, that's too much. You need to rest!

Zane frowned slightly when they stepped out onto the topmost floor. The wind was stronger and colder up here, not that it affected either of them much anyway.

[Zane:]
No...we need to get to our birthday chills...I mean thrills!
Making dreams

Follow the string to the end

Zane continued to walk backwards towards the edge of the unrailed balcony, making Pixal very nervous. He got within a foot of taking over and then stumbled back towards her.

[Pixal:]
Zane?!

[Zane:]
What? I'm fine
We're gonna climb
We're gonna sing
Follow the string
To the thing
Happy happy happy
Merry merry merry
Hot...cold...hot...birthday!

Zane turned to throw his arms out wide and his foot went off the edge. Pixal, who had been expecting him to get a little close, grabbed his gi and yanked back with all her might. They tumbled backwards and he landed almost on top of her. She immediately pressed the back of her hand to his forehead and gasped softly.

[Pixal:]
Woah! Zane, look at you. You've got a fever. You're burning up!
All right, we can't go on like this
Let's put this day on hold
Come on, admit it to yourself

She stroked his hair back and he pushed himself up more so he could put his head over her shoulder. He sighed and nodded slowly.

[Zane:]
Okay...
I have a cold

Pixal helped him back up and over to the elevator, where they rode all the way down in one trip. She stood right next to him and slipped her arm under his shoulder to support him.

"I'm sorry Pixal. I just wanted to give you one perfect birthday, but I ruined it. Again," Zane apologized softly and Pixal rubbed his back soothingly. He sniffed again and she felt a pang of sympathy.

"You didn't ruin anything. Let's just get you to bed," She responded softly. The elevator dinged and she led him out of it onto the street.

Where they were met by a huge crowd! Their friends were in front, holding signs and presents. Even Cyrus Borg was there! A hologram of Pixal as Samurai X stood in the center of the courtyard to the side.

[Everyone:]
Surprise!

[Puxal:]
Wow!

[Zane:]
Wow...

[Crowd:]
We're making today a perfect day for you
We're making today a smiley face all shiny and new

[Kai:]
There's a fine line between chaos

[Jay:]
And a hullabaloo!

[Lloyd:]
Whoohoo!

[Crowd:]
So we're making today a perfect day

[Cole:]

[Crowd:]

Randomly, Zane gained courage to do something spontaneous he never would've done normally.

[Zane:]
I love you baby!

He blurted out his line with a silly grin and gave Pixal a big kiss on the lips!

[Everyone:]
For everything you are to us
And all that you do

Zane shrugged as if to say "what? I'm cute and you know it," when he pulled back from the kiss and agreed with the crowd.

[Zane:]

Nobody knew how he got there, but Zane was trying to climb his old statue to make some snow sculpture and sing.

[Zane:]
Perfect day-

Pixal ran over and pulled him off. He almost collapsed into her arms and she steadied him.

[Pixal:]
Okay, to bed with you.

[Zane:]
No, wait! Wait! All that's left to do is for the birthday queen to blow the birthday bugle horn!

He made a horn from ice and tried to hand it to Pixal.

[Pixal:]
Oh, no no no no no no no...

He pushed it further towards her but his breath started to hitch.

[Zane:]
ACHOO!

His sneeze echoed throughout the alleyways and snow flurries appeared, falling on everyone. "And that's our cue to go back to the Bounty," Pixal told the others. They agreed.

The snowstorm followed them back home while Zane stumbled alongside Pixal, humming his song. Although Pixal was worried about him, she was also in awe of everything he'd done for her today. He must've worked hard to prepare for everything that happened.

They got back to the ship and Zane had all but completely shut down. Pixal helped support him while they walked to the back of the ship where their room was. The heat coming from him worried Pixal more than anything. He was never this hot.

As soon as she sat with him on the bed, he leaned onto her shoulder and groaned. A few minutes later, Pixal had him situated in the optimal "get better" position. She smiled softly at him and scooted closer.

[Pixal:]
Best birthday present ever

[Zane:]
Which one?

[Pixal:]
You letting me take care of you

[Zane:]
