Tortuga: It's A Heck Of A Port!

The sun was starting to set over the horizon and Aggie was still avoiding Jack. Finally when they were about a few yards off the coast of Tortuga, Jack decided to confront her.

Aggie was trying to crawl on the top of a barrel and was failing miserably. Jack snucked up behind her and picked her up, seating her on top of the barrel.

Aggie turned to see it was Jack who helped her and not Will. She huffed and turned away from him, crossing her arms.

"We need to talk" Jack told her.

"I have nothing to say to you" Aggie said, trying to sound like a grown up.

"Fine, I'll talk then" he said "I know you're mad at me-"

"Duh!" Aggie said.

"I thought you had nothing to say to me?" Jack asked.

"Keep your pity speech going before I lose interest!" Aggie said.

Jack mumbled something under his breath about 'kids today' and 'no respect.'

Then he sighed heavily and told her "Look Luv, ye have to try and understand that I don't trust people easily. I lost someone very important to me and I blame myself for it everyday. And you're an orphan so you must know what it's like to lose someone important to you, right? I-"

He stopped when he saw Aggie start to sob. If there was one thing in the world Captain Jack Sparrow could not stand to see it was a woman crying, seeing a little girl cry was ten times worse.

"C'mon" he told her "Stop that now."

Her lips folded into a cute pout and if her brown eyes got any bigger they'd be the size of dinner plates.

"Cut it out" he said "I'm trying to apologize to ye here!"

She began to whimper and whine. Jack suddenly remembered how he used to get Maggie to stop crying when she was upset.

As Aggie continued to cry her eyes out, Jack began to sob too. When she whined he would whimper the same way and when she pouted he would fold his bottom lip the same way.

Finally Aggie stopped and saw Captain Jack Sparrow crying dramatically against the barrel. For a minute she thought he had lost his mind, then she remembered he didn't have enough to lose!

"What are you doing?" She finally asked him.

He abruptly stopped crying and looked up at her. "I'm trying to get you to stop crying" he grinned "Did it work?"

Aggie crossed her arms. "I'm still very mad at you" She said.

"I thought you would be" Jack said "so I brought you a peace offering from the galley." He pulled out a cookie from his coat pocket.

"You can't win me over with a cookie! I'm not that young!" Aggie protested, turning away.

Jack sighed and began to walk back to the helm. He must have taken four steps when he heard Aggie speak up again.

"What kind of cookie?" She asked.

"Chocolate chip" he answered.

"Fine, I forgive you" she said bitterly. She hopped off the barrel and took the cookie, immediately beginning to nibble on it.

"Tortuga! Dead ahead!" Will yelled from the crow's nest.

Jack and Aggie stared at the port of Tortuga over the railing as they were coming closer to the ransacked town.

"Just so ye don't go spreading it around, I wasn't really crying back there" Jack told Aggie.

"That's okay" Aggie replied, grinning "I was faking it too!"

                        ☠💀☠

About an hour later Jack, Will and Aggie were walking into the town square of Tortuga. And even though Aggie was only six, she couldn't help but notice that a lot of the women in Tortuga dressed a lot less fancy than the ones in Port Royal, skimpier too! And lot's of the men were chasing them and walking funny. And everybody was drinking some type of reddish brown liquid.

Not only that, but the port itself was dirty and grimy. Aggie coughed from the smell of the town, Will pulled her out of the way as a woman dumped a chamber pot from a window above, nearly hitting her with it's contents.

Captain Jack on the other hand thought Tortuga was the most beautiful place in the world. Maybe because he really was more looney than Aggie thought or he had no sense of smell.

"More importantly it is indeed a sad life that has never breathed deep this sweet perlierous bouquet that is Tortuga, Savvy?" Jack told them.

"I've smelled it and believe me it isn't sweet!" Aggie coughed from the stench.

"What do ye think?" Jack asked Will.

"I think I agree with Aggie" Will said, trying to breathe though his mouth. "It'll linger!"

"I tell ye mates" Jack told them "if every town in the world were like this one, no man would ever feel unwanted!"

"And every woman would behave badly!" Aggie said as a red-headed lady stormed over to Jack.

"Scarlett!" Jack exclaimed.

The lady then greeted him with her palm striking his cheek and stalked off.

"Not sure I deserved that" Jack said.

Before Jack could take another step further. Another lady with blonde hair approached Jack.

"Gisele!" Jack greeted her.

"Who was she?" The lady nodded to the Red-head.

"What?" Jack asked, before getting another palm across the face.

"I may have deserved that" Jack admitted, rubbing his cheek.

"I'm bored!" Aggie whined "Can we see you get slapped again?"

"No" Jack said "we need a crew for our mission and I know just the man to do it!"

The trio went around the back of a pub and found a man sleeping in a pig pen. He appeared to be using the pigs as a pillow. Jack handed Will a bucket of water also taking one for himself. Jack then tossed his bucket of water onto the man, waking him instantly.

"Curse ye for breathing, ya slacked-jawed idiot!" The man yelled.

"Oh my gosh!" Aggie yelled "he's still alive!"

The man looked up to find Jack smirking at him. "Mother's love! Jack!" He breathed "ye should know better then to wake a man when he's sleeping, it's bad luck!"

"Ah! Fortunately I know how to countor it" Jack said "The man who did the waking buys the man who was sleeping a drink, the man who was sleeping drink it while listening to a proposition from the man who did the waking."

The man looked completely lost as he tried to make sense of what Jack had said.

Aggie rolled her eyes. "He'll buy you a drink if you help him with a plan he has!" She explained it slowly.

Jack raised a brow. Aggie was a pretty smart six year old, though he hadn't the slightest idea how she kept up with what he just said.

"Aye, that'll about do it" Gibbs said finally.

Jack helped him up and Will threw his bucket of water onto Gibbs.

"Blast damn! I'm already awake!" He shouted.

"That was for the smell" Will explained.

Gibbs nodded, understanding.

Aggie then tossed another smaller bucket of water onto Gibbs.

"What was that one for?" Jack asked.

"Everyone was doing it" Aggie shrugged "I just wanted to be in the loop!"

The group of four went into a pub called the Faithful Bride. But before Aggie could take more than five steps into the small shack of a bar, the bartender told her she was too young to come in.

"I swear I'm older than I look!" Aggie told the man behind the bar.

"How old are you then?" He asked her.

"How old do you have to be to come in here?" Aggie asked.

"Eighteen" the man answered.

"I'm nineteen!" Aggie said "I just had height reduction surgery!"

The man shoved her out on the street and Aggie sat on an old crate and huffed. She hated when adults told her she was too young or too female to do stuff, especially when it was fun stuff.

Aggie suddenly got an idea when she saw a lady, who was dressed really revealing, rubbing her heels and complaining about her shoes. Her high-heeled shoes...

Aggie walked over to the lady and asked her what her shoe size was.

"I'm a size nine, why?" The lady asked.

"Well, if you want I can take those shoes off your hands and give you something a lot more comfortable?" Aggie offered.

After trading her boots for the lady's high-heels, Aggie also managed to swipe a wide-brimmed hat off a man's head while he was passed out drunk.

She walked into the Faithful Bride again, this time sneaking past the bartender. Aggie eventually found Will, Jack and Mr. Gibbs in the back, Will was trying to avoid a drunken wench with bad teeth and Jack and Gibbs were talking at a table, toasting to something.

"Hi, guys!" Aggie said, walking up to the table where Gibbs and Jack sat. She took off the hat and set it on the table.

"Uh, Aggie?" Jack asked her "I know children grow up much too fast nowadays, but you appear to have gained five inches in the last ten minutes?"

"It's probably my new shoes" Aggie shrugged.

Jack and Gibbs looked down at her feet, which now had a pair of high-heeled shoes on them that looked two sizes too big.

"Saints alive!" Gibbs exclaimed "ye didn't get robbed, did ya?"

"No" Aggie shook her head "I just made a trade with the nice lady in the skimpy dress outside."

"Oh brillant!" Jack said sarcastically "now we have to get ye some new shoes!"

"Why?" Aggie asked.

"Have you ever tried to work aboard a ship in high-heels, Luv?" Jack asked her.

"No" Aggie said "But you're the expert, what's it like to work on a ship in heels?"

Mr. Gibbs laughed "She's a quick one, I'll give her that!"

That same night, Jack and Will took Aggie into the only dress shop in Tortuga, while Gibbs sighed on members of the crew.

Aggie looked up at the name of the dress shop and read it out loud:

"Miss Sadie's Perky Ladies?" She said.

She also couldn't help but notice the woman on the sign had a big... chest, you could say. And it wasn't a treasure chest either...

They walked into the shop, which mostly held dresses for wenches and we're greeted by the owner of the shop, Miss Sadie.

"Jack Sparrow!" She growled angrily as she came out from behind the counter. "I thought I told ye to stay away from my shop! I lost a sale last time you were here being a peeping tom!"

"I understood that fully when you dragged me out by the ear, Miss Sadie" Jack told her "but I got a young lass here that's in need of some new shoes."

Miss Sadie looked down at Aggie, squinting her eyes at her. She pulled out a measuring tape and took Aggie's height and hip measurements.

"Hmm..." She said, looking at the measurements. "Well, I'll see what I have, but I remind you we don't exactly sell children's merchandise in here."

"She just needs new shoes" Jack said, shrugging.

"Pish-posh!" Miss Sadie said "The girl needs a new outfit to go with those shoes!"

Aggie grinned at that. "Can I get a new outfit too, Jack?" She asked "Please! Please! Please!"

"No" Jack said.

"Please!" Aggie begged "Pretty please..."

"The appearance of the please doesn't matter..." Jack crossed his arms and shook his head.

"C'mon Jack" Will urged him.

"Yeah, C'mon Jack!" Aggie told him.

"Yeah, C'mon Jack!" Miss Sadie joined in.

"Fine" Jack said reluctantly "but it has to be something you can work in!"

"Come along, Luv" Miss Sadie took her hand, leading her to the back of the shop. "I'll help you find something..."

        💀Two Hours Later...💀

Aggie and Miss Sadie were still in the back room of the shop. Will had fallen asleep in a chair in one corner and Jack was looking through Miss Sadie's collection of Ladies Undergarments.

"I think the pink bra will suit you well" came a voice from behind.

Jack jumped and dropped the undergarment he was holding. He spun around to find Aggie dressed in a red and black Pirate dress made for her age. And some little black boots that Aggie referred to as booties.

"Is it alright to work in?" She asked him.

"I'd say so" he said.

"Do I look... you know... pretty?" She asked awkwardly.

"Uh... Well..." Jack stammered. For once he was at a loss for words. He didn't want to say anything too caring, but he didn't want to say anything too insulting to the girl either.

Aggie continued to wait for an answer.

"Well Luv" Jack told her, finally finding his voice. "If I were forty years younger, I'd be smitten with ye."

Aggie pulled A face. "A simple 'you look nice, Aggie' would have been good too" she said.

Jack rolled his eyes.

As Jack was paying Miss Sadie-or getting robbed blind, as he would put it- Aggie poked Will who was still asleep in the corner.

"Hey Will!" Aggie said "what do you think?"

Will jolted awake and his eyes landed on Aggie.

"Wow, Aggie!" He said "You look really nice!"

And not as trashy as I thought you'd be! Will couldn't help but think to himself.

"See, Jack?" Aggie said "Will knows how to compliment a lady!"

"Try and remember who's paying for this, Luv" Jack said, handing over the rest of his bonus money to Miss Sadie.

"Thank you, Jack!" Aggie said as they walked out of the shop.

"You're welcome" Jack told her "now let's get out of here before Miss Sadie tries to sell ye some make-up..."

Aggie gasped excited "They got make-up?!"

"Back to the ship!" Jack said, grabbing Aggie and flinging her over his shoulder.

Aggie grinned from behind his back. In reality she hated the dreaded subsistence known as make-up, but when life gives you lemons, you squeeze as much juice from them as you can.

Of course when she said juice she meant money and by lemons she meant Captain Jack.

AN:Anyone who doesn't comment or vote gets to walk the plank! I will find you! 🤣😉
