The Hunt for Captain Jack!

"Elizabeth!" Aggie cried out as her friend sunk deeper below the surface of the dark blue Caribbean waters. She looked over at the three grown men who where staring over the side of the interceptor's railing.

"Well...?" Aggie asked expectingly.

They all looked at her cluelessly.

"Well, what?" Asked Mullroy.

"Someone help her!" Yelled Aggie.

"Will you be saving her then?" Smith asked the sailors.

"I can't swim!" Murtogg admitted, shrugging.

Mullroy simply shrugged.

"Pride of the kings navy, you are!" Smith sneered, taking off his coat, belt and hat. "Do NOT lose these!"

With that said, Smith jumped onto the railing and did a swan dive into the water.

Aggie ran to the docks with Mullroy and Murtogg following. She stared down at the water looking for them, her heart hammering in her chest. Where was Lizzie?!

"They've been down there too long! I'm going in!" Aggie said, getting ready to dive in too.

Just as Aggie was about to jump, Captain Smith appeared in front of her, carrying Elizabeth by the waist. The guards took her from Smith and laid her on the dock.

"Is she dead?" Aggie panicked.

"She's not breathing!" Murtogg observed.

"Move!" Smith said, unsheathing his dagger.

Aggie's heart stopped, was he going to slit her throat?

Instead Smith slit Elizabeth's corset down the side and immediately she began to breathe again and cough off sea water violently.

Aggie sighed in relief.

"Never would have thought of that?" said Murtogg, surprised.

"Clearly you've never been to Singapore..." Smith quipped.

"Are you alright, Liz?" Aggie asked, hugging her.

"I think so" Elizabeth said, sitting up.

"I thought you were a goner!" Aggie said, breaking the hug. "I swear if-" she stopped when she noticed a golden coin with a skull dangling from Elizabeth's neck. It looked as if it were grinning at her, sending a shiver down her spine.

"Where did you get that?" Smith asked, following Aggie's gaze.

Suddenly Norrington and his men surrounded them, pointing their weapons at Smith.

"On your feet!" Norrington snapped.

Smith looked up at him without any sort of panic as if he'd been in a situation like this before. He slowly got to his feet as Governor Swann wrapped his coat around Elizabeth's shoulders, asking if she was okay.

"Yes" Elizabeth answered, staring at Smith. "Yes, I'm fine."

Governor Swann saw Elizabeth no longer had her corset on and noticed Mullroy holding it. Mullroy's face turned red as he dropped the undergarment and pointed to Smith.

"Shoot him!" Governor Swann demanded.

"Father!" Elizabeth protested "Commodore, do you really intend on killing my rescuer?"

"Yeah, I saw the whole thing, Comma-fore!" Aggie spoke up, still not able to say Norrington's new rank title. "Elizabeth would be dead if it weren't for Captain Smith here! Or Smithy if you like!"

"Smith is enough, Lass" Smith told her

Commodore Norrington reluctantly put away his sword and held out his hand to Smith. "I believe thanks are in order?" he said.

Smith raised a brow and hesitantly went to shake Norrington's hand. As soon as he did Norrington pulled his hand forward and tore back his sleeve to reveal a capital P burned into Smith's wrist.

"Had a brush with the East India Trading Company, did we?" Norrington looked him in the eye "Pirate?

"Hang him!" Governor Swann demanded.

"Keep you guns on him, men!" Norrington ordered "Gillette! Fetch some irons!"

Norrington pulled the pirate's sleeve up some more to reveal a bird flying over a sunset over the ocean.

"Well, Well, Jack Sparrow, isn't it?" he asked.

"Captain Jack Sparrow, if you please, sir?" The stranger-now known as Captain Jack-said.

"I don't see your ship, Captain?" Norrington sneered.

"I'm in the market as it were" Jack explained.

"He said he'd come to commandeer one" Mullroy snitched to Norrington.

"Told you he was telling the truth!" Murtogg gloated, holding up Jack's things. "These are his, sir!"

Norrington held up Jack's pistol and inspected it. "No additional shot's, nor powder" he observed.

Aggie gave Jack a look as if to say 'Really?'

The Commodore picked up Jack's compass next. "A compass that doesn't point North" He smirked, smugly.

Aggie raised an eyebrow at that. If it didn't work, why did he keep it?

Next Norrington pulled Jack's sword, which was a Hanger sword, as Will Turner would have called it. Aggie could identify a bunch of different swords, Will had even taught her a few basic moves with some of them.

Norrington, however, smiled teasingly at the sword. "And I half expected it to be made of wood" he said, slapping the weapon back in it's scabbard.

Aggie rolled her eyes skyward. Go figure! She thought The coolest guy ever to set foot in Port Royal and he came completely unprepared!

"You are without doubt the worst pirate I've ever heard of!" Norrington said with a sour expression.

"But you have heard of me..." Captain Jack said.

Aggie unsuccessfully stifled a giggle.

Norrington shot them both a look that would curdle fresh milk. Then grabbed Jack by the arm and pulled him down the docks, Elizabeth followed them and so did Aggie. They seemed to be the only two people that saw the injustice in this.

"Commodore, I really must protest!" Elizabeth said.

"I second that!" Aggie agreed.

"Pirate or not, this man saved my life!" Elizabeth said.

"That's true!" Aggie said "And if he's so bad how come he didn't try to hurt me before Wingus and Dingus came along!" She nodded towards Mullroy and Murtogg.

"Miss Agatha, please mind your manners!" Norrington said through clenched teeth.

Aggie avoided his angry stare.

The Commodore then turned to Elizabeth. "And one good deed is not enough to redeem a man of a life time of wickedness!" he told her.

"Though it seems enough to condemn him?" Jack said.

"Indeed" Norrington said.

"Finally" Jack said as Gillette finished putting the irons on him. Quick as a flash, Jack Sparrow wrapped the chains on his manacles around Elizabeth's neck, using her as a shield.

Aggie backed up near Governor Swann, scared for her friend's life once again.

"Let her go, you goon!" Aggie yelled.

"I knew you'd warm up to me" Jack whispered to Elizabeth, ignoring Aggie. "Commodore Norrington, my effect's please! And my hat!"

Norrington gave Jack a hard look.

"Commodore!" Jack urged.

"C'mon, Comma-jore!" Aggie stomped her foot, trying to make him hurry up. Every minute they waste, could mean Elizabeth getting strangled!

"Elizabeth- it is Elizabeth, isn't it?"" Jack asked her.

"It's Miss Swann" Elizabeth snapped. Aggie was shocked at how brave her friend was being in a life-threatening situation.

"Miss Swann, if you'd be so kind?" Jack asked "Come, come dear, we don't have all day!"

Commodore Norrington gently handed Jack's effects over to Elizabeth.

Jack grabbed his pistol and held it to Elizabeth's head. "Now if you'd be very kind?" he muttered.

Elizabeth stared to put Jack's effects on one by one, starting with his beloved hat and hugging him to wrap his belt around his waist. Jack took that opportunity to grin cheekily at Norrington.

Elizabeth tightened Jack 's belt around his waist. "Easy on the goods, darling" he told her. (AN: My favorite COTBP quote right there!)

"You're despicable!" Elizabeth sneered at him.

"Sticks and stones, luv" Jack shrugged "I saved your life, you saved mine, we're square!"

He's not wrong! Aggie couldn't help but think.

Jack twirled Elizabeth around and annouced "Gentleman, M'lady..." He looked at Aggie "...little girl, you will always remember this as the day that you almost caught Captain Jack Sparrow!"

He threw Elizabeth at the guards and grabbed hold of a rope, kicking a rope release and flying upwards as a cannon came crashing down on the dock. Everyone looked up as Captain Jack swung around on the rope from the tall rafter above.

"Now will you shoot him?!" Governor Swann yelled at Norrington.

"OPEN FIRE!" shouted Norrington.

Aggie put her fingers in her ears as every navy officer on the dock started firing there weapons at Jack.

One of the bullets hit the rope Jack was swinging from and he landed on another wooden beam on the other side of the docks.

"ON HIS HEELS!" Norrington commanded.

Jack used his manacle chains to zipline down another rope and took off into town. The guards took to the streets to find him.

"Gillette!" Norrington said "Mr. Sparrow has a dawn appointment with the gallows, I would hate for him to miss it!"

Norrington and Gillette took off too after that.

Governor Swann, Elizabeth and Aggie were left on the docks alone. Aggie was about to ask Elizabeth if she was okay from her run in with the pirate captain, when she heard a screeching voice that sounded like dead leaves scraping on the paved streets.

"AGATHA!!" It yelled furiously.

Aggie gulped and turned to see the orphanage's director, Miss Thiskle storming up the docks towards her.

"Bye Liz!" Aggie called as she ran away in the other direction. She knew she would be severely punished for running away from the orphanage for so long.

Aggie ran into town trying to avoid getting caught by Miss Thiskle. She needed a place to hide out for a bit. The pub? There's no way she could get in. The bakery? No, they still have that restraining order on her. Aggie looked up and saw Mr. Brown's blacksmith shop. Maybe Will was back from his deliveries?

She went in and closed the latch door behind her. Mr. Brown was sleeping in the corner as usual and he was drunk... as usual.

But Aggie saw that the blacksmith shop's donkey, who she had named Fiona, was running the machines. Which was odd, Will never left the machines going. Aggie walked over and petted the poor animal's head causing her to stop.

"Easy, girl" Aggie told her "it's okay."

"Oi! What are you doing here?"

Aggie jumped at the sound of the voice, thinking Mr. Brown had woken up. Instead she spun around and saw Captain Sparrow standing there, with the chains of his manicles broken.

"Oh, it's just you" Aggie said with slight disgust.

Aggie didn't know if she hated Jack or liked him. On one hand he threatened to kill Elizabeth, but on the other hand he managed to escape beautifully without so much as a scratch. That's quite an impressive skill...

"Just me?" Jack said "not the usual greeting I get from ladies?"

"I'm six" Aggie said like it was obvious "and your a fugitive!"

"I've been called worse" Jack shrugged.

"I'm sure you have" Aggie nodded.

Jack gave a scowl. "What are ye doing in here anyway?" He asked "A blacksmith shop is a dangerous place for a little girl."

"I'm hiding" Aggie answered "same as you!"

"And what, pray tell, could you be hiding from?" He asked.

"Miss Thiskle" she answered "the orphanage director, the woman responsible for me and the evilist woman this side of the Caribbean sea!"

"I see" Jack nodded "You're an orphan."

"Yeah well... I never said I had a good life" Aggie shrugged.

Suddenly the latch on the front door of the shop creekef upward. Jack and Aggie's breath hitched as Jack dove behind some barrels to hide.

Aggie tried to hide with him, but he shoved her aside.

"Hey!" She protested.

"Sorry Luv, no room!" He said.

The door creaked open as Aggie stood in the middle of the room. Who was it? If it was Norrington and his men, he would ask where Jack was and if Norrington found out Aggie was hiding him, she would be in even worse trouble. And what if it was Miss Thiskle? That would be even worse the worse trouble!

Aggie watched as Will Turner came into the shop. She sighed in relief.

"Aggie?" Will asked "What are you doing here? You should get back to the orphanage, there's a dangerous pirate running around!"

"Yeah, I know" Aggie said "but Miss Thiskle is really ticked off with me."

Will sighed "Aggie, I love spending time with you, but you can't go running around town every time you get in trouble. You have to face the problem head on sometimes."

Will looked past Aggie and saw a tricorn leather hat behind her.

"Aggie? Did you bring this in here?" He asked her, reaching for it.

Suddenly a sword blade slapped his hand away. Will's eyes shot up to meet Captain Jack's as he pointed his sword at Will.

Aggie gulped as she looked between the two men. This was going to get ugly. Really ugly, really fast...
