Finding A Heading!

As soon as Captain Jack, Mr. Gibbs and Maggie (followed by David) walked into the Faithful Bride Pub in Tortuga they immediately began to get men for their crew. Or in this case souls for their deal with Jones...

Gibbs started signing up men asking them why they should be part of the crew, none of them had good reasons or credentials, but they had souls and that was the important part.

While Gibbs handled that, Maggie was putting Jack's parental skills to the test. But Jack was only intrested in trying to get his compass to show him a heading to the dead man's chest.

"Daddy, can you color with me?" Maggie asked innocently, holding up the crayons and paper she brought in her satchel.

"No..." Jack shook his head as he looked at the reading the compass was giving him. It clearly wasn't working to his satisfaction.

Maggie frowned and picked up another thing from her satchel of toys. "Hey Daddy, do you want to play checkers?" She asked.

"I know what I want and I want it... Now!" Jack told the compass. He flipped open the lid and continued to frown.

Maggie came to realize that Jack wasn't paying attenion to her, just like David said. He didn't want to do activities with her and she picked all his favorite activities.

Maggie frowned and went out the back door of the Faithful Bride, David followed her.

Maggie sat on a barrel beside the pig pen and began to cry. David patted her on the back, comforting her.

"It's alright, Maggie..." He told her "I'm sure he was just too busy."

"I don't want him to be busy" Maggie sobbed "I want him to be my Daddy."

"Don't worry, Maggie" David told her "I'm here for you."

"Thank you" Maggie sniffed "let's go back inside."

The two kids were about to go back into the tavern, until they heard bottles breaking, music playing and screams of pain. It didn't take much to start a bar brawl had in Tortuga.

"Maybe heading back to the Black Pearl would be better idea?" David suggested.

"Yeah, good idea..." Maggie said as they turned around and headed for the docks where the Pearl was.

                       ☠💀☠

Maggie was sitting on the gangplank talking to David, when Jack and Gibbs came up the docks.

"Maggie!" Jack called to her as he walked up towards her on the docks.

David gasped and went back to being invisible.

"What are ye doing here?" Jack questioned Maggie "I turned around at the Bride and you were gone! I nearly had a heart attack! Are ye trying to send me to an early death?!"

"Do you really want me to answer that?" Maggie rolled her eyes.

Gibbs eyes widened in surprise.

Jack glared at her. "Did you just sass me?" He asked her.

"Oh, I'm sorry" Maggie said sarcastically "I didn't realize you had taken your eyes off that compass started listening!"

Jack opened his mouth to protest, but someone behind them called out.

"Captain Sparrow!" A young sailor boy called to Jack.

Jack glanced at him briefly. "Come to join me crew, lad?" Jack asked him "Welcome aboard!"

"Run while you can!" Maggie told him.

Jack scowled at her.

"I'm here to find the man I love" the young sailor told them.

Jack's eyes widened and Maggie snickered.

"I'm deeply flattered, son" Jack told him "But my first and only love is the sea." He gave Gibbs A look which meant Ditch em!

"Meaning William Turner, Captain Sparrow" the young sailor told him.

Jack and Maggie peered closer at the sailor only to realize that he was a she! And He was not just any she! She was Elizabeth Swann!

"Liz!" Maggie ran over and hugged her.

"Maggie!" The Governor's Daughter returned the hug. "I missed you so much! You've gotten so tall!"

"Elizabeth, you know these clothes do not flatter you at all, it should be a dress or nothing" Jack told her "I just so happen to have an old dress in my cabin."

"Jack" Elizabeth said in a no-nonsense tone "I know Will came to find you, where is he?"

Jack gave a dramatic sigh "Darling, I am truely unhappy to have to tell you this..."

Elizabeth braced herself, knowing Jack had either gotten Will in trouble, killed or worse.

"...but through an unfortunate and entirely foreseeable series of circumstances that have nothing whatsoever to do with me... poor Will has been press-ganged into Davy Jones Crew..." Jack said, making himself seem innocent.

"Davy Jones?" Elizabeth asked him.

A scruffy, filthy drunk guy came up behind Elizabeth. "Oh please!" He said "the captain of the Flying Dutchman?"

Maggie stared at the drunken man for a bit and realized he want a drunk, He was Norrington!

"Comma-lala-dore Norrington?!" She asked.

"Just Norrington now, Miss Sparrow" the former Commodore informed her.

"What happened to you?" Maggie asked him "You look like you've been drinking and wallowing in the mud for three months!"

"Actually" Norrington said "I only started drinking a week ago..."

"Woah... you must've been gulping drinks down non-stop!" Maggie told him.

"And ye look bloody awful!" Jack told Norrington "What are you doing here?"

"You hired me" Norrington reminded him "I can't help it if your standards are lax."

"You smell funny!" Jack retorted.

"Not as bad as you" Maggie mumbled.

"Oi!" Jack said, shocked that his own daughter was sticking up for Norrington.

"Jack!" Elizabeth said "all I want is to find Will."

Jack's eyes gleamed with an idea, Elizabeth wanted to find her beloved boy-toy and he wanted to find the dead man's chest. This might just work for the both of them, if not both at least him!

"Are you certain?" He asked her "That's what you really want... most?"

"Of course..." Elizabeth told him, trying to figure out what he was getting at.

"I think you'd want a way to save Will... most?" Jack told her.

"And you would have a way of doing that?" Elizabeth asked.

"Well..." Jack told her "there is a chest."

"Oh dear..." Norrigton and Maggie said unison. Norrington then continued to vomit off the docks.

"A chest of unknown size and origin..." Jack went on.

Pintel and Regetti passed by hauling a crate of cargo.

"What contains the still beating heart of Davy Jones" Pintel added in.

"Thump-thump!" Regetti said, miming a beating heart in his hand.

Jack glared the off."And whoever processes that chest processes the leverage to command Jones to do whatever he... or she... wants. Including saving our brave Will from his grim fate..."

"You don't actually believe him?" Norrington asked Elizabeth.

Elizabeth actually didn't believe Jack, at least not entirely. Davy Jones? A mysterious chest with a still beating heart in it? It was preposterous! But if the pirate had a way to get to Will, she'd do as he wished.

"How can we find it?" She asked Jack.

"With this" Jack held up his compass "This compass is unique."

"Unique here having the meaning of broken" Norrington told them.

"True enough" Jack shot Norrington a look. "My compass does not point north..."

"Where does it point?" Elizabeth asked him.

Maggie, knowing how Jack's compass worked and finally realizing where Jack was going with this answered.

"It points to the thing you want most in the world..." Maggie said.

Elizabeth looked at her, then at Jack who was nodding in agreement.

"Jack, are you telling the truth?" Elizabeth asked him, a bit skeptical.

"Every word, Luv" Jack told her, putting the compass in her hands. "And what you want most in this world is to find the chest of Davy Jones, is it not?"

"To save Will" Elizabeth said, trying to make sure Jack stayed on track.

"...By finding the chest of Davy Jones!" Jack said, keeping her on track of what must be done first.

He opened the compass and ran away, leaving the compass to work it's magic.

Elizabeth watched as the compass needle spun and finally stopped in one direction.

Jack appeared next to Elizabeth and stared at the compass.

"Mr. Gibbs!" Jack announced "we have our heading!"

"Finally!" Gibbs said. He turned and yelled to the crew "Cast off those lines! Weigh anchor and crowd that canvas!"

Jack gestured for Elizabeth to come aboard the Black Pearl. "Miss Swann?"

Maggie went to follow, but Jack stopped her.

"Be a dear and help the crew load the cargo" Jack told her before swaggering up the gangplank.

Maggie stomped her foot and growled angrily. When none of the crew was looking, David appeared beside her.

"He is being pretty hateful, isn't he?" David asked her.

"It's not fair!" Maggie said "he's only using Elizabeth to get to the chest just like how he used Will to get the key! And he's only making me load the cargo because I insulted him in front of Norrington!"

"Maybe I was wrong about Jack?" David said "Maybe he doesn't care about you?"

"He doesn't?" Maggie asked.

"Not from what I've seen" David shook his head no.

"Then what am I gonna do?" Maggie asked sadly.

"You're gonna do the one thing you're best at!" David said "You're gonna be a bad girl!"

"What?" Maggie asked.

"The only way to get your father to notice you is to cause trouble" David said "if you do something bad, he'll confront you about it and give you attenion without even knowing it."

"That's a great idea!" Maggie said, walking up the gangplank. "I'm gonna go come up with some ideas that drive my Dad crazy! Well, if not crazy, crazier!"

"I'll be there in a second!" David said "I think I dropped something."

"Alright" Maggie said.

David waited till Maggie was on the Black Pearl and ran to the end of the dock. He pulled a vile of squid ink out of his pocket and spilled it into the shallows, a small whirlpool formed with Davy Jones face in the center of it.

"Hello Uncle Jones" David greeted him.

"David" Davy Jones greeted his nephew. "Do you have a status report?"

"Yes sir" he said "Sparrow has brought on a new recruit and is leaving Tortuga soon. They'll be making their way to the Isla Cruces soon."

"Curses!" Jones said "You must stall them as much as possible!"

"I don't have to!" David grinned evilly "I've got Sparrow's Daughter wrapped around my finger. I'm going to convince her to turn against her father and ultimately she'll become his downfall and hopefully her own!"

"Ha!" Jones laughed "Brillaint, lad! Keep this up and You'll be bumped up from cabin boy to first mate of the Flying Dutchman!"

"Thank you uncle" David smirked.
