Don't Mess With The Cannibal Princess
When Maggie awoke she found two cannibal women hovering over her. They were putting bright blue war paint on the bridge of her nose and fixing her hair.
Maggie layed there too terrified to even move. She was scared that if she made any sort of movement, they would attack her.
Finally the women stopped prepping her and bowed before her. Maggie raised a brow at this, then things got even weirder. The eldest of the two women began speaking in a strange language that sounded like gibberish.
"Upa-ma, Lum-Lum" she said to Maggie.
Maggie stared at her, baffled to say the least. The woman lead her to a cracked full length mirror in one corner of the hut. Maggie was now dressed in what appeared to be a ceremonial cannibal dress.
Maggie furrowed her eyebrows, confused. Then the woman gently took her hand and led her outside the hut. Outside the hut there was a thriving cannibal village, where many of the island's inhabitants were either banging on drums loudly or dancing around an unlit fire pit.
As the cannibal woman led Maggie through the village, she kept wondering where her Dad and the crew were? Had they'd already been eaten? And if so how would she escape? Surely she couldn't get back to the Pearl and sail it away from the island all by herself.
What have they done to Dad? Maggie wondered They probably boiled him and half the crew into a soup! And now I'm the main course! Poor Dad! I wonder if he thought about me in his final minutes? I know I'll be thinking of him and-
Maggie's thoughts were cut short when she saw her father seated on a throne of human bones. He was decked out in war paint and on his head was a tall ceremonial headdress.
And not only was Captain Jack alive, but he was being waited on hand and foot like royalty by the cannibals. One of the more beautiful cannibal woman was even feeding him wild berries from a wooden bowl while another fanned him with a large leaf.
"What the...?" Maggie whispered to herself, as they led her to another throne beside her father's.
The cannibal's bowed and left them to go gather firewood.
"Dad..." Maggie whispered out of the corner of her mouth. "What's going on here?"
Jack looked at the girls that were feeding and fanning him.
"Bon liki liki" he told them in the same gibberish they spoke.
The women giggled flirtatious-like and left them.
Jack brought his head down near Maggie's ear. "It appears I've given the Pelegosto's the impression that we are living god's" he told her.
"How did you manage to do that?" Maggie asked.
"They spoke some gibberish to me and I tried to speak some back" Jack shrugged "And apparently whatever I said back made them think I was a god."
"Then why did they take me?" asked Maggie.
"Well, since you're my daughter you must have some sort of god-like powers in you too" Jack explained.
"So... they aren't going to eat us?" Maggie asked hopefully.
"No, they'll eat us eventually" Jack told her "since we're gods we must be released from our body-like prisons and into the spirit world."
"The spirit world?" Maggie hissed "as in their stomach's?"
"Cannibals have to eat too, Luv" he said "Besides you always wanted to be a princess, right?"
"No" Maggie rolled her eyes "you don't know me at all, do ye Dad?"
"Well, you're gonna have to act like one or we'll both be dinner" Jack said.
"So the longer we sit here pretending to be god's, the longer we get to live?" Maggie asked.
"Aye" Jack nodded.
Maggie looked around. "Where's the crew?" She asked.
"Not to worry, Dearest" he told her "they're all safely locked away in a prison somewhere... all twelve of them."
"We have twenty men in our crew?" Maggie corrected.
"Turns out our loyal subjects like an appetizer before their meal..." her Father said grimly.
Maggie pulled a face. "You have an escape plan worked out, right?" She asked him.
"Of course, just waiting for the opportune moment" he winked at her.
Suddenly Maggie noticed some of the Pelegosto men coming across a bridge holding a stick with another prisoner hanging by it. A familiar prisoner...
"Hey Dad, they got a dead guy on a stick over there that looks just like Will Turner" Maggie whispered to her father. "What are the odds of that?"
Apparently the odds of that were quite strong, because when they brought the supposedly 'Dead' guy forward, it really was Will Turner!
Jack gave Maggie a look that meant follow my lead. Maggie gave a faint nod.
Will stirred awake and peered up at them. "Jack? Jack Sparrow? I can honestly say I'm glad to see you!" He chuckled. He looked over at Maggie "Maggie? It's wonderful to see you again!"
Jack and Maggie stared at Will as if they didn't even know him. Jack poked Will's arm.
"Jack? It's me! Will Turner!" He said.
"Wa say co?" Jack asked the Pelegosto's. Translation: What is this?
"Een dah-lah" one cannibal said "Eeseepi?" Translation: He was in a trap, may we eat him?
"Eeseepi?" The whole tribe repeated. Translation: May we eat him?
"Tell them to let me down!" Will told Jack.
"Kay-lay lam?" Jack said to the tribe "Lam piki-piki! Lam eensy weensy! Lam say-say eunuchy snip-snip!" Translation: Him? He's too skinny! Too small! He's also a eunuch!
"Ahhh... eunuchy..." the tribe repeated. Translation: Ahhh... A eunuch...
Will eyed Jack's compass which hung from his belt.
"Jack! The compass! That's all I need! He said desperately "Elizabeth is in danger! We were arrested for trying to help you! She faces the gallows!"
Maggie tried to mask her fear for Elizabeth's life. Now they had to escape and help Will save Elizabeth!
Where have I heard that before? Maggie thought, thinking of their last adventure with Will Turner.
"Say-say lam shoop-shoop sha smalay-lama shoo-koo, Savvy?" Jack told the tribe. "Bal liki-liki!" I said. Translation: Take him and lock him up with the rest of the prisoners, savvy? Go."
"Bal liki-liki!" One cannibal said. Translation: Go!
The rest followed him to lock up Will with the rest of the crew.
"Jack, what did you tell them?" Will asked as they carried him away. "What about Elizabeth?! Jaaaaaack!"
Jack sat back down on his throne beside Maggie.
"How do you know their language?" Maggie asked her father.
"It's not hard to pick up when you've been here before?" Jack said.
Maggie raised an eyebrow "you've been here before?"
"Twice actually" Jack said.
Maggie rolled her eyes.
Four cannibal women came forward, two of them put a sea shell necklace on Maggie. The other two put another necklace on Jack, although Jack's necklace wasn't made of seashells... it was a bunch of severed toes stringed together.
"Thank you" Jack said as they walked away. He picked up one of the toes and examined it.
"Dad!" Maggie hissed "Put that down! You don't know who's toe that was!"
Her father, of course, didn't listen and bit a toenail off of one. Maggie had to refrain from gagging as Jack spat the toenail out.
Jack noticed some of the cannibal's throwing some wood onto the fire pit.
"Oi! No! No! More wood!" He told them "Big fire! Big fire! We are chief and princess! Want big fire!" He turned to the guards near his throne. "Oi! Maboogie snickle-snickle! Toute suite!" Translation:Want more wood! Hurry!
The guards hurried to fulfill their chiefs wishes. They found more wood and placed it in the fire pit until it was piled high.
But when they went to get their Chief and Princess they were nowhere to be found.
Jack ran across a bridge with Maggie right behind him. They ran by some empty huts and stopped short almost falling off a cliff.
"What now?" Maggie asked her Dad.
"Check some of the huts for rope" Jack said.
They went into a hut that seemed to be full of loot from merchant ships. Maggie picked up a coil of rope, while Jack looked at some spices. Jack took a canister of paprika and Maggie took some coriander. Spices were like powdered gold in the Caribbean.
Jack and Maggie walked out of the hut and came face to face with their loyal subjects once again. They now seemed more angry and disappointed than loyal.
"Uh..." Maggie dropped the coil of rope and put on an innocent smile. "We are... not running away! Nope! No way!" She tried to mime out what she was saying.
When the Pelegosto's didn't seem convinced her father took the lid off of the paprika he was holding and sprinkled some under his arms.
"Little seasoning, eh?" He said.
Maggie gave a weak smile and put some coriander on her head.
☠💀☠
"Dad, please tell me you have a plan B?" Maggie asked Jack as they were tied back to back on a bamboo spit.
"I'm thinking as fast as I can!" Jack said.
They were placed above the fire pit, which now thanks to Jack was piled high with wood that would soon be ignited to cook their tender flesh.
"Well done" Jack said grimly, staring down at the pit with Maggie on his back.
Maggie watched as a cannibal came forth with a lit torch, ready to light the pit.
"Fi-fi!" He yelled. Translation: Fire!
The tribe repeated him as he brought the flame of the torch near the pile of dry wood underneath Jack and Maggie.
Then a young Pelegosto warrior came running across into the village, yelling and pointing across the village.
"Latazo! Latazo! Da-Da! Hay la paka, say-say?" He asked. Translation: Chief! Chief! The prisoners! They've escaped, What now?
The tribe turned to Jack for an answer.
"Well, go on! Go get them!" Jack orders "Pe La-La!" Translation: Get them!
"Pe la-la!" The tribe agrees and runs off to attack the escaped prisoners.
Jack noticed one of them dropped the ceremonial torch dangerously close to the pile of dry fire wood below them.
Maggie was facing the sky and hadn't seen the torch being dropped.
"Dad, where are they going?" She asked.
Jack answered her question with another question. "Which do you want to hear first, the good news or the bad news?" He asked.
"Good news would be nice right about now" Maggie said.
"The good news is that the crew escaped and our subjects are now after them instead of us" Jack told her.
"Well... I guess that's sorta good?" Maggie said, unsure if she wanted to loose anymore crew members. "What's the bad news?"
"One of our subject's dropped the torch as he ran off and it's slowly nearing the wood in the fire pit below us!" Jack said as calmly as he could.
"What?!" Maggie screamed "Put it out! Put it out!"
Jack started to blow on the flames that were beginning to devolp on the side of the firewood.
"Stop blowing on it!" Maggie shouted "You'll make it worse!"
"Well, what else should I do?!" Jack yelled.
Maggie paused to think for a minute. "Try spitting on it!" She said.
Almost as soon as the words left her mouth she heard a loud FWHOOSH! The entire pit was now ignited.
The Pelegosto's might actually be having roasted Sparrow after all! Maggie thought, terrified.
"Okay!" Her Dad said "Plan A failed and plan B just went up in flames! Now for plan C!"
"What's plan C?" Maggie asked.
"Bounce around and try to get away from the fire!" Jack yelled.
Maggie and Jack bounced the bamboo spit up and down, trying to get away from the fire pit.
Since Jack was the closest to the flames, he got burned slightly by the fire.
"Ow! Ow! Ow!" Jack cried as they bounced up and down.
Finally the spit came loose and they landed beside the fire. Jack managed to get his feet loose and carried Maggie with him, since she was too short for her feet to reach the ground. Jack ran them across the bridge they ran across before.
Jack stopped and tried to get his arms loose, then he and Maggie turned their heads to see a young cannibal boy holding a knife and fork.
Jack scurried over and took the boys knife. The young boy ran off as Jack began sawing at the rope with the knife. Then he noticed two cannibal women holding baskets of fruit in front of them.
Jack -being... well, Jack- decided to charge at them. He didn't hit either of them.
"Just out of curiosity, how did you think that would help?" Maggie asked him.
Jack noticed he had managed to skewer a coconut on the end of the bamboo spit and his eyes lit up with an idea.
Maggie noticed the look on his face. "Dad! No!" Maggie said "Don't do it! You'll just make them mad!"
Jack, of course, didn't listen and whipped the coconut at them.
One woman caught it with ease and growled at them.
Maggie nodded towards Jack. "He did it!" She told them.
"Tattletale!" Jack mumbled.
The women immediately retaliated by pelting them with the fruit they were carrying. This went on for a few minutes until Jack yelled:
"STOP IT!"
The two women stared at them, Maggie looked up and down the bamboo spit and saw there was now fruit strung on it as well.
Maggie couldn't help but giggle.
"What? What's wrong?" Jack asked her.
"Now you're a Jack-kabob!" Maggie laughed.
Jack noticed a cliff in front of them and again he charged at it. He used the bamboo spit on his back to vault him and Maggie over the cliff.
And -to both Maggie and Jack's surprise- they made it! They were on the other side of the cliff.
"Wow!" Maggie said, amazed "How did you do that?"
"I have no idea!" Jack said, equally amazed.
Then the fruit that was part of the 'Jack-kabob' slid forward and caused Jack to lose his balance. The next thing they knew, Jack and Maggie were plummeting down the chasm.
The stick they were both tied to got caught between the walls of the chasm and sent them spiralling from the unravelling rope. When they were done unravelling both of their right ankles were still tied together as they hung upside down in the middle of the chasm.
"Now how do we get down?" Maggie asked, as the blood rushed to her head.
As if to answer her question the bamboo stick above started to give away.
They looked at each other's upside down faces.
"Bugger" they said in unison.
The stick gave away and they fell for the longest time, going through four bridge as they fell. Finally they landed side-by-side on a patch of somewhat soft tropical grass.
They groaned and then saw the bamboo stick plummeting down towards them. It skewered into the ground right between their heads. The fruit from the 'Jack-kabob' came raining down on them shortly after.
Suddenly Jack and Maggie heard the screams and yells of their loyal subjects coming through the jungle towards them.
"To the ship!" Jack yelled, running away.
"Daddy! Wait!" Maggie yelled.
"What?" Jack asked, stopping.
Maggie hissed in pain. "I think I broke my ankle!" She said, holding her foot.
Jack rolled his eyes and groaned.
☠💀☠
Meanwhile Will Turner, Mr. Gibbs and the crew managed to escape as well and were headed for the Black Pearl. Which was all ready to go, thanks to Pintel and Regetti.
"Make ready to sail, boys!" Gibbs yelled to the crew.
"What about Jack and Maggie? I won't leave without them!" Will vowed.
"Oi!" Jack calls from a distance.
Everyone turns to see Jack carrying Maggie over his shoulder.
Will smiles in relief, but it disappears when he see's that their running from... A HOARD OF CANNIBAL'S!
"Time to go..." Will said, scared.
"Hurry up, Daddy!" Maggie yelled, as she was still slung over his shoulder. "Keep running! Their catching up!"
"I know!" Jack panted "Stop yelling!"
"C'mon!" Maggie shouted at the cannibal's "Is that all you got?! You'll never catch us like that!"
"Maggie! Don't encourage them!" Jack shouted.
The Prison dog barked at the cannibal's as they passed him.
"Hi, Scrapper!" Maggie yelled to the Dog. She had named him when she was living in Port Royal.
"Good Doggy!" Jack said, picking up the pace.
Jack boosts Maggie up onto the rigging of the ship. He crawled up with her soon after.
"Alas my children!" Jack yelled to them "this is the day you will always remember as the day you almost-"
A huge wave splashed Jack from behind. Maggie, who didn't get splashed, giggled.
"-Captain Jack Sparrow..." Jack finished, halfheartedly.
Jack climbed aboard the Pearl and saw Maggie doing a little victory dance, celebrating their escape.
"Maggie!" Jack said.
"What?" She asked.
"I thought you said you broke your ankle?" He asked.
"I said I thought I broke my ankle!" Maggie said "and it turns out I didn't! Aren't I lucky?"
"So I carried you across that beach for nothing?!" Jack said.
"Yes and did I tell you I love you today, Daddy?" Maggie batted her eyelashes.
"I love you too, Dearest!" Jack grinned.
Maggie giggled and went to her cabin to get changed.
It slowly dawned on Jack that she just played him like a fool!
"Oi!" He yelled "You get back here, ye little monkey!"
