An Excellent Day For Ghost Possession
As the Black Pearl ran aground on the island, everyone was thrown forward. Carina rushes down from the helm.
"They took Henry!" She breathed.
"Never mind about that!" Captain Jack told her. "They took my baby!"
"The Trident be all that can save them now" Barbossa assured the panicked two.
"Then we have to find it" Carina nodded. She walked off quickly, searching the seemingly barren island they had landed on. She opened her diary and started flipping through the pages. "Where is it?" She asked herself. "It has to be here."
Then as the sun rose above the horizon, everyone looked up, seeing how the dawning light illuminated the crystals on the island. The once barren island now looked like the clear night sky, full of shimmering stars.
Carina stared in awe. "Look at it, Jack" she breathed. "It's the most beautiful thing I've ever seen. This is what my father wanted me to find."
"Rocks?" Jack asked confused.
"No, not rocks... Stars!" Carina explained. "This is the Map No Man Can Read. This island is a perfect reflection of the heavens!"
She looked out, noticing red dots in a significant pattern that matched the Trident-like constellation on her diary cover. Only it was one star short...
"One star's missing" Carina said. "Quickly!"
Captain Jack was already ahead of her. "We have to find the Trident to save my Maggie!" He told her.
"And Henry!" Carina added.
"We'll see!" Jack shrugged. He slowed down as he passed Barbossa. "Hector, I think you should know, she's a horologist!"
Barbossa whirled around, giving him a look.
Jack rushed to catch up with Carina. "Hang on, Maggie!" He yelled. "Daddy's coming to save you!"
☠💀☠
While Captain Jack was charging into battle for his daughter, Maggie was only just coming to. She was in a dark room she didn't recognize, but as her eyes adjusted to the darkness she was able to make out that she was in someone's cabin aboard a ship.
"I must admit, you're not quite the challenge I had in mind" came a low female voice from the shadows. "I was picturing someone my age."
Maggie watched as Matóna stepped out of the shadows staring her down. Maggie just didn't understand this girl, she kept trying to bully her and intimate her. But Maggie didn't understand why. Captain Jack was the one who hurt her and her father, not Maggie.
"You always judge your enemy targets solely on their appearance?" Maggie asked her.
Matóna nodded "Often times, yes."
"Hmm, seems superficial" Maggie noted. "It's no wonder my Daddy was able to take you all down so easily..."
Matóna slammed her hands down on the arm rests of the chair Maggie was bounded to.
"Don't you dare mock me!" She growled. "I shouldn't even have to explain myself to a child... or any pirate in general!"
"Why do you even hate pirates so much anyway?" Maggie asked.
"Because they're the criminal scum of the sea!" Matóna snapped. "They killed my Grandfather and my Great Grandfather before him and my father and I fell victim to them as well!"
"So you hate pirates purely because your Dad raised you to?" Maggie raised an eyebrow. "Did you ever actually try to interact with pirates to see what they're like? Some of them are better than others, y'know?"
Matóna sneered at her. "You think you can reform me? Change me? Pirates are what killed me!" She told her.
"No, you're father's vengeful nature is what killed you!" Maggie snapped back at her.
Matóna scoffed and rolled her eyes.
"Think about it! If you're father just let my Daddy leave and tried to catch him later, you would probably still be alive!" Maggie told her. "Maybe if you try using your own judgement instead of just mimicking your Dad's raging behavior, you'd be better off!"
"I will not take advice from the likes of you!" Matóna told her.
"Surely you are old enough to start making some decisions for yourself? Don't you want to be known as so much more than just Captain Salazar's daughter?" Maggie asked her.
"What makes you think you know anything about me?" Matóna demanded.
"Because I know me! We're more alike than you'd care to admit!" Maggie told her. "Both our Father's are Captain's of a ship! Both of us were raised on said ships! Both of us grew up without mothers! The only difference is we're just on opposite sides and our father's raised us differently!"
"And thank God, they did!" Matóna nodded. "Thanks to my Father raising me, I am nothing like you!"
"That's true... you're in way worse shape than me!" Maggie told her. "You're Dad made you become a part of the Spanish Navy! My Daddy always gave me the choice to become legit if I wanted to. Your Dad raised you to be prejudice towards pirates! My Daddy taught me to not label a person based on their position or race or gender or anything in between. You were raised the way your father chose! But the rest of your life is up to you! What do you want to be, Matóna?"
"I WANT TO BE THE ONE TO TAKE YOU DOWN!!" Matóna shouted before backhanding her across the face. "I hate you! I hate all pirates! If it weren't for your kind, my father would focus on me!" She shrieked. "My father always shoved me aside because he had to take down some pirate ship in the distance! My life and my needs always came second to the massacre of some stupid ignorant pirates!"
Maggie blinked. "Y-you're just too far gone, aren't you?" You don't understand anything I'm saying... you don't want to understand it either." She looked at her. "Do you really think killing me will make your father proud of you?"
Matóna's face twisted as if she was going to cry, yet her stern look of anger remained.
"It has to! I'll kill you and then I'll use the Triton of Poseidon to kill your father! And it'll all be alright! I can show my father I'm worthy of my position in the Spanish Navy! I can show him I'm worthy of the name Salazar!" Matóna nodded.
"You shouldn't have to prove stuff like that to your father! If he cares about you, he should already know it!" Maggie said. "And to think you thought I was the screwed-up kid here! My Daddy may be a pirate but he taught me well! He never expected me to follow the same path he did! He tells me he's proud of me! That he loves me! You never got any of that from your father, did you? It's not death or any curse that filled with hate and rage... it's your father."
"Shut up!" Matóna snapped.
"An entire sea of water can't sink a ship unless it gets into it. The same can be said about the harshness and negativity of the world" Maggie recited. "It can't bring you down unless you let it get inside you. That's what happened to you, isn't it?"
"I don't need your pity, runt!" Matona spit venom at her.
"And I don't need your prejudice and yet, I take it!" Maggie snapped back. "You can call me what you like, you can tell me what you hate most about me! But regardless, I am a pirate! I chose to be one! And I'm forever proud to be one!"
Matóna smirked evilly "Forever might just be ending soon enough!" She whipped out a pistol and pointed it at Maggie's chest. "Finally... after over thirty years, I'm finally going to get my revenge on the next generation of the Sparrow's."
Maggie looked at the gun pointed at her chest and furrowed her brows.
"Oh..." she hissed sympathetically. "Yeah... you can't kill me."
"Of course I can!" Matóna snapped. "I have the nerve, don't you think I can't."
"No, you literally can't kill me" Maggie told her. "I'm immortal."
Matóna eyes widened. "What?!" She screeched, the gun dropping to her side.
"Yeah" Maggie nodded.
"I waited over thirty years for this!" Matóna shouted in frustration.
"Uh... I'm sorry?" Maggie shrugged.
Matóna groaned. "You're not sorry!" She told her. "You're just hateful!"
Suddenly Matóna turned to Maggie and smiled evilly.
"I have an idea" Matóna said. "If I can't punishment you by killing you... I'll possess your body and make you kill your own father. And leave you to spend the rest of your stupid immortal life alone with the guilt of knowing your father died at the hands of you! How do you like that, you hateful little pirate?!"
(A parody of Queen of Mean by Sarah Jeffery)
Maggie:
You say I'm hateful?
You're the one being spiteful!
I tend to break the rules,
I color outside the lines,
Maybe I took something's that weren't mine!
I love my Daddy dearly,
But just when we bounce back,
You come to attack!
You think the battlefield is your stage?
You should act your age!
Turn a new page!
I have my issues, but you got too much rage!
You want my severed head for a given wage!
Don't you rattle this Sparrow's cage!
So they wanna play pirate assassin?
Well there's a new breed of Captain!
But you won't take me captive!
'Cause if you want it like that,
Then brace yourself for some serious combat!
Your dead men want revenge
For what happened to them?
Now they're messing with the new Captain!
Matóna:
Playing innocent is a waste of time,
You're still guilty for the crime!
And death only made me stronger and tougher,
If I can't kill ya, I'll make you suffer!
So you can carry on with your empty threats,
My revenge plan is all set!
Your downfall will be my victory!
Soon enough you'll be history!
Now let's go see your Daddy, shall we?
Maggie:
So you wanna play pirate assassin?
Well there's a new breed of Captain!
And you won't take me captive!
'Cause if you want it like that,
Then brace yourself for some serious combat!
Your dead men want revenge
For what happened to them?
Now they're messing with the new Captain!
(Captain Maggie, Captain Maggie)
The new Captain!
(Captain Maggie, Captain Maggie)
The new Captain...
(Captain Maggie, Captain Maggie)
*Matóna stares into Maggie's eyes and begins to possess her body*
Maggie:
What is this feeling?
It's so hypnotic!
My soul is held down,
Not sure what I'm feeling?
This battle ahead will be bloody and careless...
Matóna:
But it holds the tempting promise of vengeance!
Maggie:
The dead may be prejudice and downright offensive!
You threaten my family and I will be aggressive!
Matóna:
So my new quest is showing these pirate pests,
That I rule these sea's
And my reign will be endless!
*Matona evaporates into thin air and Maggie lifelessly falls back in the chair. Her eyes reopen, but they are completely blackened*
Matóna: *Through Maggie's body*
You'll get what you deserve,
My revenge will be served!
My deadly curse,
Just got a lot less worse!
If Sparrow wants a real challenge,
I'll come at him full-on savage!
I'll show him what I mean,
If he wants it like that,
Then he better be ready some serious combat!
Cause I want my revenge
For what happened back then!
Now he's messing with the new Captain!
The new Captain!
The new Captain...
He'll get what he deserves!
*Matóna/Maggie takes out her sword and uses her ghost powers to zap the cabin door off it's hinges*
☠💀☠
Meanwhile, Carina and Jack finally find Poseidon's tomb. The sea had parted once Carina used the ruby from her diary cover to complete the island.
Captain Jack and Carina moved through the rocks and coral with the smell of wet sand and low tide wafting around them.
"Look, Jack!" Carina pointed up to the trident. "There it is!"
"Poseidon's Tomb" Captain Jack breathed.
"SPARROW!" Someone growled from behind.
Captain Jack turned around to see Maggie running across the coral towards him.
"Maggie? Maggie!" Jack shouted happily, running forward to hug her. But then Jack saw Maggie's eyes were blacked out, she had her sword out and an angry, menacing look on her face.
"Maggie?!" Jack said less enthusiastically.
Maggie's let out a roar and leaped off a rock with her sword raised above her head.
Captain Jack eyes widened as he ducked out of the way of his daughter's blade. "Maggie, what are you doing?!" He gasped.
It was difficult for Jack to fight against his own daughter, he didn't want to hurt her, but he didn't want Maggie to hurt him either! Jack never realized how strong his little girl really was...
"Maggie Darling, there's no need for this!" Jack told her. "If I did something wrong, just tell me!"
Maggie didn't responded she just continued to try and stab her father. Captain Jack grabbed her by the wrists forcing her to let go of the sword.
As Maggie dropped the sword Jack kicked it away. Maggie shoved him off her and jumped doing a backflip off one of the rocks and onto Jack's back. She wrapped her arms around his throat and began to choke him.
"Maggie! No!" Jack wheezed. "THIS IS NOT THE TIME FOR A PIGGY BACK RIDE!"
He pried Maggie's arms off his throat and she flew off into the sand. Jack gasped as Maggie staggered back up to her feet and looks at him with her mean blacked out eyes
"You're not hurting me, you're just hurting your Brat!" Maggie said in Matóna's voice.
Jack's eyes widened in shocking realization.
Matóna/Maggie grabbed a handful of Jack's dreads and shoves him onto a rock with her sword pointed at Jack's throat.
"Any last words, Sparrow?" Matóna smirked.
Captain Jack stared up at his daughter, her beautiful big brown eyes were blacked out, her brow was furrowed in murderous concentration and her little rosebud mouth was curled in an evil sneer. He understood that Matóna was the one doing this, but seeing his baby looking at him with such hate and murderous intent... it made him think of how he got caught up in finding the Trident. How all this could've been avoided if he had just payed closer attention to her and listened to her. He felt as if this was his fault, how this could've all been avoided...
"Maggie, I'm sorry" Captain Jack told her. "Come on, baby girl. I need you to fight back. Separate yourself from her. Push Matóna out of you. I know you can do it, I have faith in you."
"D-Daddy?" Maggie choked out, before Matóna growled and took full control again.
"I know you're scared, but I'm scared too, Luv" Jack continued. "I'm scared I could loose you! I need you here with me... I need you to come back to me, Maggie. Please come back to Daddy..."
As Matóna tried to keep full control of Maggie, she began to see flashes of Maggie's memories. Moments like her father tucking her in at night and playing with her. Moments like birthday's, Christmases and family dinners. All important moments between her and Captain Jack that Maggie held dear.
"Just give it up!" Maggie told Matona as she tumbled to the ground and squeezed her eyes shut, shuddering and having convulsions.
"No!" Matóna growled.
"Keep trying, Maggie. Daddy's here, I'm waiting for you!" Captain Jack rubbed her back as she jolted around on the sea floor. "I fought them before and so can you. Do it, sweetheart! Do it for me! Just calm down! Take a deep breathe and push her away! I need you here! I need you with me! Please Maggie... come back. I'm right here with you, Maggie! I need you..."
"Shut up!" Matóna roared at Jack.
Maggie's eyes snapped open, except they were back to their regular brown pupils.
"Don't talk to my Father that way, you weeeeench!" Maggie shouted as Matóna shot out from her body and went flying against a nearby rock.
Jack hovered over his daughter's unconscious body. "Maggie?" He asked concerned.
Maggie opened her eyes and looked up at him weakly. "Hi, Daddy..." she breathed.
Jack grinned. "Hi, precious..." he kissed her forehead.
Suddenly the ground trembled beneath them and a ripple rushed through the walls of sea water on either side of them.
"The Trident!" Maggie told her father. "Where's the Trident?"
The Sparrow's turned and peeked over the rocks at where the Trident was perched in the center of the tomb. Someone had lifted it out and held it in their hands. Henry's lifeless body had fallen on the ground beside them.
Captain Salazar glanced at them from behind the Trident with a menacingly look of satisfaction on his face. Now he had Poseidon's Trident, now he was in control, now Sparrow and his child would be the victims of his wrath.
"Hola, Sparrow's" He smirked with murderous glee.
"Oh no..." Maggie breathed as her father gripped her to his chest.
