Pirates In The Palace!
"Hell's teeth!" Mr. Gibbs exclaimed "Now we're all headed for prison!"
"Not to worry! I've paid off the driver..." Captain Jack told him "Ten minutes we'll be outside London Town, horses waiting, then it's just a matter of finding a ship."
"All part of the plan, yes?" Gibbs inquired.
"Exactly!" Jack told him, breaking out a flask of whiskey. "I arrived in London Town just this morning to save one Joshamee Gibbs from one appointment with the gallows. Seeing as how you're still alive, I'd say it's all been very successful thus far." He passed the flask to his first mate. "What happened to you, Gibbs?" Jack asked him. "I thought you were employed elsewhere or otherwise engaged?"
"Aye" Gibbs passed the flask to Maggie. "But I always listened like a thief for news of the Black Pearl. Nobody's seen where she might next make port."
Jack nodded taking the flask from Maggie before she could get a sip. Maggie pouted.
"Then, I hear a rumor!" Mr. Gibbs said "Jack Sparrow's in London with a ship and looking for a crew!"
"Am not" Jack told him.
"But that's what I heard" Mr. Gibbs said "Fact is you're signing up men tonight. Pub called the Captain's Daughter."
"Am not!" Jack told him.
"And speaking of the Captain's Daughter..." Gibbs looked at Maggie "Another rumor states that Maggie Sparrow held up a Sweet's Shop just last night."
"No, I didn't!" Maggie told him "I mean... I would've, if I had the time! But I didn't!"
"Well, I thought it a bit odd" Gibbs admitted "but then again, you two were never the most predictable of sorts."
"There is another Captain Jack and Maggie Sparrow out there sullying our good names?" Jack asked him.
"Two impostors" Mr. Gibbs told him.
"But..." Captain Jack "Imposters with a ship..."
"And in need of a crew!" Mr. Gibbs added.
"Which as fate would have it..." Maggie glanced at her father. "...So are we."
"What about you, Jack?" Gibbs asked, grabbing a map beside Jack. "Last I heard you were hell bent on finding the Fountain of Youth. Any luck?"
Jack seized the map back and told him "Circumstances arose, ensued and forced a compelling insight, regarding discretion and valor..."
"Meaning ye gave up!" Mr. Gibbs said.
"Actually he's just putting it off!" Maggie rolled her eyes.
"Both of you are wrong!" Jack told them "I'm just as bent as ever! Hellishly so! I shall taste those water, Master Gibbs. Mark my words!"
The wagon then halted to a sudden stop.
"Oh! Short trip!" Jack said.
"Seems a little too short to me..." Maggie told him.
Captain Jack opened the doors to the prison wagon and stopped dead in his tracks.
Instead of being outside London Town like Jack said, they were in the middle of the Courtyard of St. James Palace! And instead of horse waiting to take them away, there was rows upon rows of British soldiers with their rifles pointed at them!
"Now I'm not gonna say 'I told ye so'..." Maggie said to her father.
"Thank you, Dear" Jack told her.
"I warned ye so!" Maggie told him, grinned.
Jack growled under his breath.
"All part of the plan, yes?" Mr. Gibbs asked hopefully.
Captain Jack turned and got knocked in the head with the blunt end of a rifle.
"No" Jack answered as the guards began to drag him and Maggie away.
Maggie and Jack were pulled down the main hall of a large and expensively decorated palace. Everything was either made gold or had gold trimmings or filigree in it.
The guards marched Captain Jack down the hall, to the point where his feet where dragging behind him. Two other guards were walking behind, carrying Maggie the same way except with Maggie's height prevented her feet from touching the floor.
They eventually brought them to a large dining room where they were both chained and manacled side by side in chairs. The guards then left Maggie and Jack in private.
"Well..." Maggie said after a silent pause "Aside from being chained to a chair, this is one of the fancier prisons I've been in."
"One of?" Her Father raised a brow at her.
"Alright, THE fanciest prison I've ever been in!" Maggie corrected.
"Anyways, I think this is what's known as St. James Palace" Jack said.
"I would've guessed Buckingham Palace..." Maggie said. Her gaze fell on the table in front of them, on a tray of desserts to be exact.
Licking her lips, Maggie began to scoot her chair towards the table.
"What are you doing?" Jack asked her.
"Nothing!" Maggie smiled, nonchalantly.
Captain Jack followed her gaze to the creme puff on the tray in front of her.
"Are you trying to sneak a creme puff?" Jack asked her.
"No..." Maggie said.
Her Father gave her a not-too-amused look.
"Well, there's so much food on that table, nobody will even notice one missing creme puff!" Maggie told him, scooting her chair closer.
"Maggie" Jack said, sternly. "We're in enough of a troublesome situation already."
Maggie slumped in her chair and groaned.
"Besides..." Captain Jack told her "If anybody's getting their mitts on that creme puff, it's me!" He started to scoot his chair closer.
"Hey!" Maggie said, scooting alongside to keep up with him. "It's my pastry! I saw it first!"
"You snooze, you lose!" Jack told her, still pushing his chair towards the prize.
"Well, you already shared a flask of whisky with Gibbs in the wagon" Maggie continued towards the sweet taste of victory. "So you booze, you lose!"
"I'm older, bigger and therefore more hungrier!" Jack said, still racing ahead.
"And I'm younger, smaller and therefore more cuter!" Maggie told him, catching up to him.
"What does that have to do with it?" Jack asked.
"Oh, you don't know?" Maggie asked him "If you're so much older, then why aren't you wiser?"
"I'm gonna get that creme puff and eat it while you watch!" Jack told her, less than a foot to the table.
"I'm gonna grab that creme puff and dip it in a big warm glass of your tears!" Maggie snapped.
Just as the two were made it to the table at the same time, the doors to the dining room swung open, causing Captain Jack to jump and kick the bottom of the table. The creme puff rolled to the edge of the table and without thinking, Maggie kicked it upwards.
Both Captain Jack and Maggie sat there trying to act natural. They both glanced upwards to see the prize of their competition stuck to the chandelier above.
Captain Jack gave Maggie a small glare. Maggie shrugged.
Suddenly a regal and fancy-dressed man came and sat down in a chair. By his side was Lord Carteret and Prime Minister Pelham.
"You are Jack and Maggie Sparrow...?" Carteret asked them.
"There should be a Captain in there somewhere!" Captain Jack corrected him.
"The Jack Sparrow part to be exact" Maggie reminded them.
"I have heard of you two" the Fancy Man said "And you both know who I am."
"Face looks familiar..." Jack squinted.
"I think his name is Bob... or was it Billy..." Maggie said "Billy Bob?"
Prime Minister Pelham then spoke up. "You are both in the presence of George Augustus, Duke of Brunswick-Luneberg, Archtreasurer and Prince Elector of the Holy Roman Empire, King of Great Britain and Ireland... and of both of you."
"Doesn't ring a bell" Jack shrugged.
"How'd they fit all that onto his birth certificate?" Maggie asked.
"I have been informed that you have come to London to procure a crew for your ship" King George stated.
"Vicious rumors" Jack told them, rattling the chains. "Not true!"
"Then you lied to me when you told me you were Jack and Maggie Sparrow" King George said.
"We are Jack and Maggie Sparrow" Maggie told them, rattling her chains. "But it's not true that we've come here to procure a crew. That's because there are two other people."
"Ah! Two other people named Jack and Maggie Sparrow..." King George turned to Carteret. "You brought me the wrong wastrel's find the proper ones and despose of these impostors!"
Captain Jack and Maggie continued rattling their chains, even more frequently and annoyingly now.
"No, no! Wait!" Jack said "What my daughter means is that... we are Jack and Maggie Sparrow... and we are in London..."
"To procure a crew..." King George said "...to undertake a voyage to the foun--"
"What?" Jack asked over the rattling of chains.
"Would someone remove their infernal chains?!" The King ordered.
"Thank you!" Maggie said as the guards come forward and remove both her and Jack's chains...
... And the only thing keeping them truly imprisoned.
"We know you are in possession of a map" Pelham said.
"So confiscate the map!" Carteret said "And to the gallows with them both!"
"Have you a map?" The King asked Jack.
Jack reached into his coat pocket where the map was. A look of relief came over his face.
"No" he answered truthfully. Captain Jack telling the truth was an occasion so rare, Maggie made a note to write it down in her Journal later on.
"Where is it?" Pelham sighed.
"The truth?" Jack asked, getting up from his seat and walking around the table."I lost it. Quite recently in fact."
"I have a report" King George said through gritted teeth. "The Spanish have located the Fountain of Youth."
He began to bang his fist on the table, much like a jealous two year old. "I WILL NOT LET SOME MELANCHOLY SPANISH MONARCH-- A CATHOLIC!-- GAIN ETERNAL LIFE!" He shrieked.
"You do know the way to the Fountain?" Pelham asked Captain Jack.
"Of course I do!" Jack told him "Look at me!"
"You could guide an expedition?" Carteret said.
Jack tossed a linen napkin to the floor and pulled out a chair at the end of the table, positioning it just so.
Maggie smirked briefly, noticing her father had already thought out an escape route.
"With your permission, your highney!" Captain Jack asked the King "You will be providing, then, a ship and a crew?"
"...And a Captain" King George grinned.
Jack's grin fell, he was hoping to nab the Captain role.
Two guards opened the doors on the other side of the room. Footsteps echoed from down the hallway... actually it sounded more like one footstep and then a scrap. Finally the person in question stepped into the room...
...And it wasn't someone who Jack and Maggie liked.
"Afternoon, sire" Barbossa greeted the King. However Barbossa looked much different than before. He now wore the blue and white uniform of a English Privateer and a curly powered wig. And for whatever reason he had a peg leg?
He scowled at Maggie and Jack from across the room.
Captain Jack gave him a dirty look as Maggie did a certain hand gesture while the king's head was turned. (AN: That means she gave him the middle finger! For anyone who has a dirty mind...😖)
"If I may be so bold" Barbossa asked "Why aren't those two in chains? They must be manacled at once!"
"At the center of my Palace? Hardly!" King George said.
"Hector!" Jack forced a smile "How good to see a fellow pirate make good of himself!"
"Pirate, nay!" Barbossa corrected him "Privateer, on a sanctioned mission under the authority and protection of the crown."
"As may be" Jack resisted rolling his eyes. "But first, What has become of my beloved Pearl?"
"I lost the Pearl as I lost my leg!" Barbossa threw his new wooden peg leg onto the table.
"Lost the Pearl?" Jack and Maggie said in unison.
"Aye, I defended her mightily, but she be sunk none the less" Barbossa told them.
Maggie and Jack couldn't believe it! First Barbossa steals their ship and home and then he sinks it and joins the dark side!
Without warning, Captain Jack began to crawl across the table, ready to strangle Barbossa to death. He only got face to face with him before two guards yanked him back.
Another guard pulled an enraged Maggie out from under the table, before she could bite Barbossa's ankle.
"If that ship be sunk properly, you should be sunk with it!" Jack glared at Barbossa.
"Yeah! Haven't you ever heard the saying A Captain goes down with the ship?" Maggie told him.
"Haven't you ever been told not to bite people?" Barbossa retorted.
Maggie growled and picked a cupcake up from the table, throwing it at him.
She giggled as Barbossa wiped frosting from his uniform. Captain Jack beamed at her.
"Captain Barbossa" King George spoke up "Each second we tarry, the Spanish outdistance us. I have every confidence you will prevail and be rewarded with the high station you so desire."
"To serve not suffice, sire" Barbossa bowed to the king.
"You, sir, have stooped" Jack told him.
"Jack, our sands be all but run" Barbossa told him "Where's the harm in joining the winning side? And you do meet a nicer class of person..."
"This isn't the winning side, Barbossa" Maggie told him "Times are tough and piracy might not be the most luxurious and legit way of life, but deep down, you know it's the right way. I can see someone like you, cowardly and arrogant, taking the easy way out. Barbossa, I would insult you but..."
"What?" Barbossa asked.
"...I'm afraid I won't do as good a job as that wig!" Maggie finished, grinning.
With that said Jack elbowed the guards holding him back and Maggie kicked hers in the groin.
As Jack's guards go to shoot, he points their rifles upward chasing them to shoot one of the ropes supporting the chandelier above the table.
"C'mon Maggie, quickly Luv!" Jack yells grabbing her hand and racing across the table tossing food every which way.
Once they were at the end of the table, Jack then flipped himself over the chair, which he had positioned earlier, and threw it through a second floor window! Jack then picked Maggie up off the table and grabbed the ropes to a curtain and handed one to Maggie. Suddenly a tall guard came running their way, he soon slipped on the napkin, Jack had flung to the floor. As the guard slid out the window, Maggie handed him the other curtain rope as he fell out the window and plummeted out the window.
"You're welcome!" Maggie yelled to him.
As the guard well from the window, Jack, holding Maggie and the other rope, flew upwards and landed on the valance.
Captain Jack and Maggie smirked at each other as the still moving chandelier, swung in their direction.
"I always want to do this!" Maggie cheered as she and her father jumped for the chandelier.
Maggie climbed her way towards the top of the chandelier as her father moved along the bottom as it sung around back and forth above the dining room. Finally Jack and Maggie swung from the chandelier to a high balcony.
Captain Jack paused to smirk at Barbossa's furious face down below.
Maggie tugged at his coat, he looked down to see her nibbling at one half of the creme puff that she had retrieved from the chandelier. She held up one half for her father.
Captain Jack smiled, took his half and kissed her forehead, before the two made a run for it.
