It's Not Me, It's You...

Now Maggie Sparrow never thought of herself as one to hold a grudge. But in Maggie's opinion when a boy traps you and your father on a ship run by his hateful -And now deseased- Grandfather and then proceeds in toying with you and trying to seduce you into leading him to the Fountain of Youth, all for his own personal gain? It was a huge no-no in the romance department!

But as much as Maggie hated Diego Teach she still gave him the water, because she knew overall Blackbeard deserved to die rather than his Grandchild. When making the decision at the Fountain, Maggie thought back to that night on the docks of White Cap Bay. How Diego quoted and stood up for his Grandfather, Maggie figured that the only male role Diego could look up to was Blackbeard. He didn't know what he was saying, he was just remembering what his Grandad told him. Maggie figured if Diego lived, he'd have the chance to learn better than that dumb advice Blackbeard gave him. And Blackbeard on the other hand was older and a lost cause all together, the fact that he downed the chalice he thought had the tear in it just proved Maggie's theory. Blackbeard was willing to sacrifice his only grandchild's life in order to double cross fate!

Now Maggie stared at Diego from across the rowboat. As her father rowed them towards an island. Maggie and Captain Jack weren't proud of having to maroon Angelica and Diego, but they also didn't trust them to not kill them in order to avenge Blackbeard. Clearly, the father-daughter duo had no choice but to maroon the mother-son duo!

"I hate you!" Diego sneered.

"Even after I saved your life?" Maggie asked, rolling her eyes.

"What's the point if I can't even enjoy it now!" Diego exclaimed. "The years I possessed were taken from my own grandfather!"

"Blackbeard should've been willing to give you those years, regardless of Maggie's help" Captain Jack told the boy.

"It was Diego's choice to sacrifice himself!" Angelica snapped. "Your little siren shouldn't have interfered!"

"I'm a siren?" Maggie scoffed "You're one to talk, Mummy dearest!"

Angelica growled "You're both cruel and ignorant!"

"And ugly!" Diego added.

"Again, you're one to talk!" Maggie told him. "Besides at least what were doing is fair... even if fair isn't always favorable."

As soon as they made it to the island, Jack and Maggie shoved them both down onto the sandy beach.

"Two pistols with one shots in each!" Jack said, throwing both of their pistols beside them.

"To kill ourselves before we starve?!" Angelica shouted.

"There's no trusting you, Luv" Captain Jack told her. "Beside this is a well-traveled trade route, you can signal a passing ship! ...Or you can just bite the perverbile bullet as it were."

"Or sing and lure some sailor to his doom!" Maggie quipped as she followed her Father back to the boat.

"And how do you expect us to get free of these bonds?" Diego asked.

"You both broke free of your bonds half an hour ago, waiting for the presise moment to pounce!" Jack explained, not missing a beat.

Maggie and Jack whirl around before Angelica could knock them out with a peice of driftwood. Jack snatched the wood from her and threw it away.

"Maggie, just put your pride aside for a moment and admit that you do have feelings for me?" Diego gave her a charming smile. "That somewhere deep down inside, you truly love me?"

Maggie stared at him "If you had a brother and a toad, I'd risk getting warts!"

"Wait, th-there's a ship!" Diego spat out more lies. "I know where it is! You and I can go to it and we'll sail the seven sea's together and live happily ever after!"

"Save the fairy tales for bedtime!" Maggie told him, continuing to walk away.

"Wait, Maggie!" Diego yanked her back. "There's something I have to tell you. Something I wanted to tell you from the beginning, but I was too embarrassed."

Maggie sighed. "Fine. What is it?" She indulged him.

"I really do love you" Diego admitted.

Maggie smiled. "Oh, Diego..." she leaned in for a kiss. Then pulled away.

"...You're full of something, but love isn't it!" She told him, jogging towards the boat with her Father.

"MAGGIE!" Diego shrieked "Get back here! This isn't over you, you brat! MAGGIE!

Diego took his pistol and fired his one shot. He missed. Angelica did the same and missed as well.

"Missed us!" Jack yelled to them.

Captain Jack continued to row them out to sea until Angelica and Diego's shouts of anger were barely audible.

Maggie sighed, Diego was a lot like her and he was quite charming and good-looking. But there was more to love than that, Maggie wasn't even sure she was ready for love yet and she certainly didn't want a some boy trying to shove the concept of love down her throat! Especially when that love was built on a shakey foundation of lies and deceit. Yes... Maggie now had a clear sense of what love was... maybe Diego would find it too someday.

Maggie leaned back in the boat, turning to look at her Father. "Y'know what, Daddy? I think I'm gonna take a break from dating" Maggie nodded. "I mean, obviously it's not my fault Diego and I didn't work out."

Captain Jack shook his head. "Absolutely not!" He agreed.

"It was all Diego's fault!" Maggie pointed out. "He just wasn't man enough for me!"

"Aye, that's a rather common trait in eight year old boys... they're not yet men!" Jack nodded, smiling.

"Indeed" Maggie sighed. "But Diego Teach also suffers from the dreaded curse that plagues all males at one point or another."

"What's that?" Jack asked curiously.

"He uses all of his muscles except for the most important one..."

"His heart" Captain Jack said, understanding.

"Actually I was gonna say his brain..." Maggie shrugged "But yours is nice too!"

Captain Jack laughed as he hugged Maggie close to him.

☠💀☠

About an hour later, just before sunset, Jack and Maggie finally made it to a sandy coastline, where Mr. Gibbs was perched on some driftwood.

"Gibbs, ye filthy, besotted shellback, you made it!" Captain Jack called to his first mate.

"Aye!" Gibbs nodded.

"And I trust we managed a profit from our joint enterprise?" Jack asked.

"Feast your eyes..." Gibbs said gesturing to where the Black Pearl, encased in a bottle, sat.

Jack and Maggie stopped down together, side by side to look at it.

"What about Blackbeard's men guarding the ship?" Maggie asked.

"I employed the same self maneuver we perfected in New Guinea" Gibbs informed them. "And it seemed a shame to leave a whole fleet behind..." Mr. Gibbs held up a sack full of the other bottles ships.

"Shame indeed" Jack agreed. He peered into the bottle that held the Pearl, but jumped back as Jack the Monkey swung from the rigging and screeched at him. "AAH! I hate that monkey!"

"So how we gonna get the Pearl out of the bottle?" Maggie asked, curious.

"I have one theory that could work..." Jack nodded. "We shall need a crossbow, an hourglass, three goats... one of us must learn to play the trumpet whilst the other one goes like this..."

"I know a man with a goat!" Mr. Gibbs nodded.

"I can learn to play the trumpet!" Maggie smiled.

"Good! And I can go like this!" Jack said, repeating the gesture.

"So how did things fair out at the Fountain?" Mr. Gibbs inquired.

Maggie sighed "Certain complication's came about and long story short... Daddy's still not immortal."

Captain Jack tousled her hair. "It's alright, pet. There's still other ways for me to gain eternal life" he reassured her. "Besides who needs the Fountain of Youth anyway. I'm eternally youthful without it, my body is like a temple!"

"Yeah!" Maggie giggled "An ancient, crumbling temple that's haunted by all kinds of rum spirits!"

Captain Jack's jaw dropped as he grabbed her by the waist and tossed her over his shoulder, carrying his giggling daughter as they strolled down the coastline.

"I must admit Maggie, I'm confused as to why you let Diego have the water?" Jack asked, as he held her against his hip. "I thought you wanted revenge for him tossing you off that cliff?"

"I did and I got it, Daddy!" Maggie nodded. "Diego got the life-restoring water and he will live for many years now, but he will also have to live with the fact that he took those years from his own deseased Grandfather! So in retrospect, killing him would've been letting him off too easy!" She grinned mischievously.

Jack stared at her incredulously. "So you helped Diego survive just so you could leave him to suffer with his guilty conscience?" He asked.

"Mmm-hmmm" Maggie nodded, proudly.

But Captain Jack's jaw dropped. "That's horrid! That's hateful! That's inhumane! That's... that's my girl!" He said, kissing her cheek.

Maggie giggled. "Y'know what, Daddy? You are kinda immortal! Think back to all the times you charged into dangerous situations and came out without so much as a scratch?" She reminded him. "You could've died a bunch of times and yet you're still here and still alive! You're like a superhero!"

"Maggie could be right, Jack!" Mr. Gibbs nodded. "With all the alcohol in your system, you could be incapable of feeling certain amount of pain or be immune to certain types of poison!"

"Well, if that's the case, he's exactly like a superhero! Do you know who you are, Daddy?" Maggie asked.

"Captain Jack Sparrow?" Jack guessed.

"No! You're Rum Man!" Maggie cheered. "He can drink a round in a single bound!"

Captain Jack laughed. "No My Darling, your ol' Dad's not a superhero" he told her. "I have no say in it, Luv... It's a pirate's life for me..."

"And me!" Maggie grinned. "...Savvy?"
