Father & Daughter Vs. Mother & Son
☠Angelica & Diego Above☠
Maggie and her Father squinted as they walked into the dimly lit storage room in the back of the Captain's Daughter Pub. Only a few lanterns provided light around the room as well as a large fire pit in the center. But the room was still half submerged in shadows.
Suddenly the two impostors stepped out from behind two posts in front of them. Captain Jack and Maggie couldn't see their faces because they were obscured in shadows, but what they did see looked identical to themselves.
Captain Jack's impostor had the same outfit and hat, the same dreadlocks and the same drunken swagger to his walk.
Maggie's doppelganger was equally identical with the same dark brown locks, the same red bandana and she even jutted out one hip with the same amount of attitude.
Captain Jack and Maggie drew their swords in unison. Their impostors did the same a second later.
"You have stolen me" Captain Jack told his impostor "and I'm here to take meself back!"
"And as for you!" Maggie told her impostor. "I'm gonna turn your skull into rice pudding!"
As Captain Jack chased after his lookalike, Maggie raced after her own evil twin.
When she finally caught up to the other Maggie, she had vanished. Maggie crept carefully through the dark corner she was in, keeping a good grip on her sword.
Suddenly the other Maggie swung down from the wooden rafters above and landed in front of her. She swung her sword at Maggie, the real Maggie made the same attack at the same time.
Usually the guessing part was the hardest part of a sword fight, at least for Maggie. You had to keep your eyes on your enemy at all times and try to guess their next move based on their body language. It was the only way to block their attacks and defeat them.
However the problem with this enemy is that they were making the same moves as Maggie was and at the same time! It was almost as if the two were taught the same sword fighting techniques!
"Cut it out!" Maggie shouted, getting annoyed.
"Na-na-na-na-na!" Her evil twin teased, running for one of the back doors.
Maggie chased her through the doorway which led to a dark alleyway behind the pub. It took Maggie's eyes a minute to adjust from the dimly lit storage room to the pitch black alley.
Suddenly she felt an arm wrap around her throat, catching her by surprise and causing her to drop her sword. Maggie slammed her elbow into her opponent's gut and then used both hands to grip the arm around her neck. She then leaned forward as hard as she could, causing her enemy to lurch forward, fly over her head and fall to the ground in front of her.
Maggie grinned, she did it! She took on her impostor and captured her all by herself!
As Maggie's impostor sat up holding her abdomen, her hair and bandana slipped off... or rather her wig... or rather his wig!
Turns out Maggie's impostor was... A boy?!
"Oh Dios mío!" The boy groaned, lying on the ground in pain. (Translation: Oh my God!)
"Who the heck are you?" Maggie asked him.
The boy staggered to his feet and after regaining his balance, he took Maggie by the hand.
"Hola señorita, mis nombres Diego!" He said in Spanish, before kissing the back of her hand.
Maggie then used her free hand to slap him across the face.
"Ow!" He cried "All I said was 'hello miss, my name is Diego'!"
"I know" Maggie nodded "I speak Spanish!"
"Then why did you hit me?" Diego asked.
"My Dad says that's how I should greet all boys that try to get romantic with me!" Maggie told him.
"Then you must be Maggie?" Diego asked.
"That's right! I'm Maggie Sparrow!" She told him "And if you think you can walk around and pull off being me, then you must have about as much brains as you have fighting skill!"
"I must be pretty smart then!" Diego smiled smugly. "And I didn't want to impersonate you, my mamá made me do it!"
"Your Mama?" Maggie asked "Well, where is she?"
Diego shrugged "Probably kicking your Dad's butt?"
"Wait a minute!" Maggie said "Are you saying that you're mother was the Captain Jack impostor?"
"Sí!" replied Diego.
"Yeah, we better go see!" Maggie said, running back inside.
"No, Sí means... Never mind!" Diego said, hurrying after her.
As Maggie and Diego ran back inside the back room of the Captain's Daughter, they prepared themselves for the worst. What did their parents do to each other? Did they kill one another? Did one of them chop the other ones head off? Was the whole room going to look like a blood bath?
Actually, the truth was much more gruesome and disgusting...
Maggie gagged loudly as Diego covered his eyes, whimpering.
"Kissing in a sword fight?!" Maggie asked "Has the world gone mad?"
"Maybe we should kiss just to settle the tension?" Diego smirked, putting his arm around Maggie.
"If you don't back off, I'll give you a five-fingered french kiss!" Maggie growled, holding up her clenched fist.
Captain Jack pulled away from Diego's mother and smirked.
"Hello Angelica" he said pulling off her fake beard.
"Hello Jack" she greeted him with a flirty Spanish accent. "Are you impressed? I think I almost killed you once or twice there?"
"A better question would be what that heck just happened?!" Maggie asked her father. "When I left this room, you were about ready to chop her bloody head off! I return and find you sucking faces with her! What gives?"
"And this must be your little daughter?" Diego's mother asked.
"Yes, I am!" Maggie told her "And you are?"
"Angelica" she answered.
"And what makes you think you have the right to impersonate, attack and kiss my Daddy, Angelica?" Maggie asked her.
"Well, we can start with the fact that he corrupted her and broke her heart!" Diego said, defending his mother.
"Aww! Boo-hoo!" Maggie said "He's done that with plenty of girls, it's why I don't have a stepmother yet. Thank goodness for that!"
"Maggie, let Daddy handle this" Captain Jack told her "Also, who is this boy and why is he here? With you?"
"His name is Diego and apparently Angelica is his mom" Maggie explained.
Captain Jack glanced at Angelica with a scared and questioning look.
"No, he's not yours" Angelica answered, reading his expression.
"Parish the thought" Diego glared at Jack.
"Ah, well then" Captain Jack continued "I'll admit I am touched at this most sincerest form of flattery." He flipped Angelica's hat off with his sword. "But why?"
"You were the only pirate I thought I would pass for" Angelica explained, taking off her dreadlocks.
"That is not a compliment" Jack said.
"Don't worry I have long since forgiven you" Angelica said.
"For leaving you?" Jack asked, ripping open her bodice to reveal her womanly figure.
"Recall that I left you" Angelica told him.
"A gentleman allows a lady to maintain her fictions" Jack told her.
"Look Sparrow!" Angelica told him "As long as my sailors get their money they are willing to put up with any number of peculiarities."
"Ah! There is one peculiarity of which I will not put up with!" Jack told her "I will be impersonated as Captain, nothing less."
"For that you'll need a ship and as it just so happens I have one" Angelica said.
"So we've heard" Maggie said, standing by her father's side.
"I could use a ship" Captain Jack sighed under his breath.
"I hear-tell you've been to the fountain?" Angelica inquired.
"There be a lot of hear-telling going on nowadays" Jack said.
"She means the Fountain of Youth" Diego told him.
"Oh, Don't worry about that, dearie!" Maggie told Angelica "You still look very young for the mother of a boy. My Dad on the other hand... Well, I guess I can't take all the blame for that prehistoric predicament." She gestured to her father's face.
"Ha!" Angelica laughed "She's just as charming as you. Maybe even more."
Captain Jack forced a smile. "Yes, very charming and deplorable-- I mean adorable."
"However, you still haven't answered me?" Angelica asked.
"Ah, regarding the Fountain!" Jack said "Waste of time, really. Unless you have--"
Just then Scrum appeared in the doorway of the storage room.
"M'lady! I see unseamen-like fellows of a viscous looking nature!" He warned Angelica.
Angelica grabbed Diego and pulled him behind the same wooden post as her. Captain Jack and Maggie did the same while unsheathing their swords.
"Friends of yours?" Angelica asked Jack.
"I may have unintentionally slighted king or other" Captain Jack explained.
They heard the guards yelling and trying to break down the door. Scrum locked the door and started to stack barrels and crates against it.
"You haven't changed!" Angelica told him.
"Implying the need?" Jack asked her.
"Yes!" Angelica shot him a glare. "You seduced me and used me! I was innocent of the ways of men!"
Captain Jack's jaw dropped. "You demonstrated a lot of technique for someone I supposedly corrupted!" He told her.
There was another slam against the door, as the guards yelled for them to open up.
"Immediate danger!" Scrum told Angelica. "Here now, m'lady!"
Angelica and Diego unsheathed their swords getting ready to fight alongside Captain Jack and Maggie Sparrow. And yet Angelica and Jack were still carrying on with their argument...
"I was ready to take my vows!" Angelica snapped. "And you! What were you doing in a Spanish convent, anyway?"
"Mistook it for a brothel. Honest mistake!" Captain Jack shrugged.
Maggie gave him a look. "You mistook a convent of nuns for a house of cheap, painted ladies? That's not an honest mistake, that's stupid mistake!"
Angelica sighed "Tell me about it!"
Soon after the door was busted down and the guards swarmed in. Captain Jack and Angelica fought them off, But Maggie could tell that even between them and her and Diego, they were still outnumbered.
Maggie needed a distraction to slow the guards down, that's when she noticed the tankard's of ale...
"Diego! Follow my lead!" She yelled to the young boy as she stabbed her sword into a barrel, causing ale to drench their enemies!
Diego followed suit, stabbing and kicking over barrels as he went.
"Good idea!" Diego complimented her.
"Of course it is!" Maggie told him, stabbing another barrel. "Because unlike a make-believe imposter like you, the true Maggie Sparrow knows how it's done!"
Maggie and Diego then proceeded to take down two of the last guards standing. But eventually found themselves back to back with their parents and the guards had them trapped.
The kids looked at their parents who looked at each other.
"Hold your breath, kids!" Captain Jack said as he spun and switched places with Angelica.
Angelica swung her sword and hit a lever, which cursed the trap door underneath them to give away and drop all four of them into the icy waters of the Thames River.
Captain Jack and Angelica grabbed their children's arms and led them, swimming along under the dock. When they finally surfaced, they were away from the warehouse they had been in and on the other side of the docks...
...And even after all that excitement, Jack and Angelica were still arguing!
"How can you say I used you?" Captain Jack asked her.
"You know exactly how!" Angelica told him.
"I know, but how can you say it?" Jack asked.
Angelica growled in annoyance.
"Hey, Romeo and Juliet! Can ye stop arguing and swim to the docks? This water is cold enough to freeze the icicles off a polar bear!" Maggie told them.
They finally collapsed onto some nearby rocks on the shore, to catch their breath.
"So what is it?" Angelica asked Jack.
"What is what?" Jack asked.
"About the Fountain?" Diego asked "What do you two know?"
"I'm gonna guess you guys don't have two silver chalice's? Circa Ponce De Leon?" Maggie asked Diego.
"No" Angelica and Diego said in unison.
"Didn't think so" Maggie told them.
"Why?" Angelica asked.
"We tend to hear stories..." Maggie said "A rumor here, a rumor there..."
"You two are, of course, aware of the ritual?" Jack inquired.
"Yes, we are" Diego told him.
"Hmm..." Jack said "What is it? The ritual?"
"And what does it require?" Maggie asked.
Suddenly, both Captain Jack felt a sharp pinch in the back of his neck. A split second later, Maggie felt the same pinch in the back of her shoulder.
"Ow!" Maggie cried, she reached back and pulled a voodoo dart out of her shoulder. Suddenly she started to feel drowsy and lightheaded.
"A mermaid, Jack" Angelica answered.
"And some tears" Diego smirked.
"Daddy..." Maggie said, her vision blurring. "I'm sleepy. I'm... I- I think I'm gonna lie down for a bit."
Captain Jack collapsed beside her, unconscious.
"Alrighty then" Maggie said, collapsing on top of him. "You be my pillow..."
With that said Maggie blacked out, her last sight was of a strange pale man with a bald head and white eyes, standing over her.
