Don't Be So Judgy, Captain!

London, England
1750

Twenty-one years have passed since the War of Piracy. The epic battle between the Black Pearl and the Flying Dutchman which took place in the middle of a raging maelstrom had long become but a memory. At this point, some say it was no more than old fisherman's tale. But one little girl knew better...

Maggie Sparrow would've loved to say she'd seen it all. But even after fighting in giant battles with her father, Captain Jack Sparrow and sailing around the world, she knew there was always something new waiting on the horizon. And that's just how she liked it.

But Maggie didn't have time to focused on the past at the moment. She watched from the side of the Old Bailey Courthouse as the citizens of London Town were all excited about the pirate hanging about to take place.

"Hurry papa!" Another little girl said "Or we'll miss the hanging!"

"It's not a hanging, dear" her father corrected "It's a trial. The hanging comes this afternoon."

"Don't hold your breath" Maggie mumbled to herself.

The young pirate walked around the corner of the courthouse and snuck in through the back door. Maggie started walking down the halls of the courthouse, looking for her father.

"Dad!" She whisper-yelled "Daddy!"

Suddenly she was pulled aside into a nearby room. She looked around and saw she was in the Judge's office. She turned towards whoever had pulled her from the hallway and what she saw made her laugh so hard she snorted.

Her father was dressed like a judge! With the powdered wig and robe and everything!

"Nice wig, curly sue!" Maggie giggled.

"I'm only doing this because we have to save Mr. Gibbs" Captain Jack, her Father scowled.

"Really?" Maggie snickered. "You mean you're not just trying to go legit? Become sober as a judge?"

"Perish the thought, Luv!" Jack smirked.

"You look like a girl!" Maggie giggled "An ugly girl!"

"Speaking of looking like a girl!" Jack told her "I convinced everyone that the previous owner of this wig, had a niece visiting from out of town."

"Well, what are we waiting for!" Maggie said "let's grab Gibbs and go!"

"Hold it" Her father told her "Judge Smith is pretty high up in the ranks of the law..."

"So?" Maggie asked.

"So if he does indeed have a neice, she wouldn't be wearing pirate clothes" Jack explained "she'd probably wear a dress."

"Well, tough luck!" Maggie smirked "Cause I don't have a dress!"

Captain Jack grinned down at her.

"Why are you looking at me like that?" Maggie asked.

"Do you think this will fit?" Jack pulling a dress out from behind him.

"Uh... no!" Maggie told him.

"Put it on!" Jack demanded.

"Not happening!" Maggie told him "You know how I feel about dresses! I'll look like a girl!"

"You are a girl!" Jack told her.

"No, I'm a Maggie!" She told him "there's a huge difference!"

"Just put on the dress!" Jack told her.

"Fine, I'll put it on!" Maggie reluctantly agreed "but what's in it for me?"

"You get to wear a pretty dress?" Jack said.

"But I don't want to do that, you want me to do that" Maggie told him, smirking.

"Fine" Jack sighed "Do this and I'll give you five shillings."

"Ten!" Maggie haggled him.

"Four!" Jack haggled back.

"Ten shillings and you have to give me a piggy-back ride!" Maggie told him.

Jack growled. "Fine!" He told her "Now go put it on!"

Maggie grinned until Jack shoved the dress into her arms. She held it at arms length as if it were a pile of road kill and not a pink satin dress.

Captain Jack stood, leaning outside the closet in which she was changing.

"It's a good thing I care about Gibbs!" Maggie said through the door. "When are we going to get back to sailing?"

"I'm still working on getting us a ship!" Jack told her.

"And then we start making plans on finding the Fountain of Youth, right?" Maggie asked.

"You shouldn't be worried about that, Luv" Jack replied.

"I know... It's just now that I'm immortal and unable to age or die, I wanna make sure that you're with me to enjoy it" Maggie said sadly.

She stared down at the Black Pearl promise ring that had once belonged to her mother. It took a few years after their last adventure for both Maggie and Jack to realize there was some kind of magic in that ring. When Maggie's mother died her soul left but the youth of her spirit remained inside the ring. Therefore since Maggie was the first one to wear the ring after her mother's death, Maggie retained the gift of immortal youth that came with it. Maggie was permanently stuck at the age of eight years old and she would never grow old and die.

"I swear I didn't know your mother's ring was magic when I gave it to you" Captain Jack told her. "And don't you worry about me, Dearest. Even if it takes a while to get to the Fountain, I'm not going anywhere yet. You're old Dad isn't that old!"

"I beg to differ!" Maggie smirked from her side of the door. "I know you're not ill or dying or anything, but you know more than I do that the Pirate's Life is a dangerous one. Anything can happen."

"Well, then I'll just have to be more careful then, won't I?" Jack said "How's it coming with the dress?"

Maggie whined "Do I really have to wear this?"

"Let's have a look!" Jack told her.

Maggie groaned and opened the door:

Captain Jack Sparrow beamed at how beautiful she looked in the dress. It's odd how he could remember

helping her take her first steps and now she was standing in front of him looking like a lovely young lady.

"I look like a schmuck!" Maggie complained.

"Yes, but you're a pretty schmuck!" Jack told her "All the boy schmucks are going to be like 'Oh! Look! A pretty girl schmuck!' And I'll be there to throw them out and tell them to keep their grimy mitts of me baby girl!"

"Maybe you should use your giant wig to scoop them up!" Maggie mumbled with a sour expression. "Can we please just hurry this up. These stockings are killing me!"

"Alright, come on!" Jack told her. "Oh! And hold this in front of your face, so no one will recognize you" He added, handing her a matching fan to complete her embarrassing and frilly look.

And so the fake Judge and his fake neice walked down the corridor and entered the courtroom.

"Hear ye hear ye! Commencing now the sessions of the peace. Presiding now over these trials, the highly esteemed magistrate of South York! All rise for the Right Honorable Justice Smith!" The bailiff announced to the Courtroom.

Maggie tugged on the mans sleeve as she passed him and whispered something in his ear.

"...And his lovely young neice Miss Wesson!" The Bailiff announced Maggie's cover name.

Jack gave her a sideways glance from under his wig. His expression seemed to say 'Really? Smith and Wesson?'

Maggie shrugged and smirked from behind her fan.

"Now then..." The so-called Justice Smith said. "What have we here?"

Mr. Gibbs was standing inside the dock in the middle of the courtroom, he squinted his eyes at the judge.

"Jack?" He muttered.

The jailer clubbed Gibbs on the arm.

"Not necessary!" Jack told the Jailor. "You were saying?" He asked Gibbs.

"Jack... Sparrow is not my name, my name is Joshamee Gibbs!" He told the blind Jury and their fake judge.

"Is that so?" Jack asked "It says Jack Sparrow here."

"I told them, I'm not Jack Sparrow" Gibbs told him "Who I would be happy to identify to the Court it would help my case!"

"I think that would be a poor defense, unless you want to be bludgeoned again like a harp seal!" Jack told him.

The crowded Courtroom cheered loudly in agreement, they wanted to see Gibbs hang. Maggie couldn't say she blamed them for wanting some entertainment. She had only been in London for less than a week and already she was bored... and this long and tedious trial wasn't any better.

"Psst! Uncle Smithy!" She whispered to her father from behind the fan. "Can we hurry this along? My stockings are chafing me!"

Jack turned to the Jury and asked "The prisoner claims to being innocent of being Jack Sparrow, how do you plead?"

"No trial?" The foreman asked "but aren't we here to examine the evidence...?"

"Foreman! Your finding!" Jack prompted him "Guilty...?"

"Guilty verdict means he'll hang" the Foreman told the disguised judge.

The crowd roared in approval.

"Hang him!" They demanded.

"String him up!"

"Hang him high!"

The Foreman shrugged "...Guilty?"

"That's not fair!" Mr. Gibbs shouted.

"Shut it!" Jack told everyone "Mr. Gibbs, the crime of which you have been found guilty of is being innocent of being Jack Sparrow. I hear by commute your sentence and order that you be imprisoned for the remainder of your miserable, moribund, mutton-chopped life! Fair!"

Jack slammed the gavel on the desk, grabbed Maggie's hand and rushed from the courtroom as the citizens began throwing things like apple cores and shoes at them.

Captain Jack and Maggie rushed down the hallway, throwing off their disguises as they went. Maggie tore off her dress which was over her pirate shirt, pants and miniskirt. She pulled the rose-petel hair pins out, letting her dark hair fall loosely down her shoulders.

Jack stopped at one of the hallway closet's and opened it to reveal the actual Justice Smith, who had been gagged and bounded to a chair. Jack gave him back his robe and followed Maggie to the exit.

Once outside, Captain Jack retrieved his signature tri-corn hat from the head of a horse and winked to the driver of the carriage in front of him.

The driver nodded and lifted his sleeve slightly to show a tattoo of a skull and crossbones. The classic trademark of a pirate.

A prison guard was loading Mr. Gibbs into a paddy wagon headed for the Tower of London. Jack snuck his way in line and the guard threw him in too.

"Hey!" Maggie told the Guard "I'm with him!"

The guard looked down at Maggie, questioningly. "Ain't you a little young to be a convicted criminal?"

"Ain't you a little old to get beat by a little girl?" Maggie shot back.

"Wha-- OOH!" The guard howled as Maggie kicked him in shin and hopped into the paddy wagon with Gibbs and her father.

She giggled as the guard scowled at her and closed the door. The paddy wagon soon rolled away from the Old Bailey Courthouse and as it did, Maggie noticed something out of the corner of her eye...

...A little girl and her father walking along the sidewalk.

Maggie couldn't see their faces, but as she squinted her eyes, she noticed the little girl had dark hair and the exact same outfit she was currently wearing. And the father's hair... were those... dreadlocks?!
