Storm

---Nightmare's POV----

I hissed in pain as I was thrown against the wall by the force, my back slamming into the hard wood rather awkwardly, making my back click in a nasty way.

I saw the medic go flying into a wardrobe before collapsing to the floor, limp.

Cross nearly flew into me, but ended up slamming his leg on the bed and being shoved to the floor roughly by the force of the impact of whatever had hit us.

We all collapsed, groaning before I painfully rolled to my feet, hissing softly.

First thing I did was stumble over to the medic, crouching down next to him and shaking him softly. He didn't stir. He was unconscious.

"Shit..." I muttered, looking about the rest of the room.

Not seeing anything that could help, I rushed over to Cross, grabbing his top and pulling it over his head and through his arms so that his top half wasn't exposed anymore before I picked him up. Just like I had done before.

He clung to me, seeing disorientated and confused as he looked around, his eyes wide with panic.

I kicked the door open, running out onto the bottom deck, nearly slamming into Error, who was clinging to a cannon that he'd tied down.

If cannons stay loose in a storm, they have the potential to go flying across to the other side of the ship, breaking a hole into the side of the ship from the speed and how heavy they are.

If we get one single cannon breaking a hole in the wall, then the water will come pouring in, filling the ship up and sinking us. It would only take an hour maximum.

Error looked at me, wide and alert. "What so we do?!"

I braced myself as the ship tilted again, making both of us stumble, Error nearly falling off the cannon.

"Go get your healer! He's unconscious back in his room!"

Error's reaction was immediate. "HE'S WHAT?!"

"No time to explain just get him!" I yelled, stepping around him and running over to the steps, that after only two big hits from giant waves, already had water running down them.

I hissed upon seeing it, my tentacles twitching.

Call it odd, strange or just plain bullshit, but water is my biggest fear and weakness.

Sounds retarded I know. A Pirate Captain afraid of water? You can't get more stupid and ironic than that.

But long story short, water burns me. Get enough of it on me I'll probably collapse screaming in pain. That or...

I shook my head, taking a step back as Killer came into view above me, stumbling before he let out a cry and fell down the stairs, landing at my feet with a thump, his eyes squinting as he hissed in pain.

"Get up!" I ordered. "We need to secure the cargo and cannons!"

Killer winced, reaching a hand up.

Seeing as my hands were preoccupied carrying Cross' I wrapped a tentacle round his wrist before pulling him to his feet, giving him a second to steady himself before pushing him down the ship, towards a loose cannon.

"Tie it down!"

Killer nodded, skidding over to some rope and grabbing it before tying it to the wall of the ship, wrapping it tightly round the cannon after.

I looked away from Killer and up to the top deck, hissing as I realised something. The anchor would still be up...

If there's a storm, the first thing you'll want to do is drop anchor to ensure you don't go drifting off somewhere. It should also help with the rocking and jolts. Should... (if this is wrong then ric me)

I hissed, waiting untill the ship jolted again, nearly falling over before I ran up the stairs.

The whole top deck was covered in water, there was froth and foam everywhere from where waves had hit, and a few things that hadn't been tied down were strewn across the deck.

I glanced up, happy to see that the sails had been taken up. If they were down this raging wind would be the death of us, not the waves.

I whipped round, staring at the anchor.

As I predicted, it was still up. It looked like some people had gave a depressing attempt to get it down but given up halfway through.

I glanced down at Cross, wincing at the fear in his eyes.

Without thinking, I put him down, pushing him over in the direction of my cabin, the only room up-deck.

"Go go go!" I yelled. "Head for that cabin! I'll be there in a second!"

He looked at me, clearly terrified.

"GO!"

He jolted, sprinting across deck to my cabin.

I sighed in relief, only to panic again as I saw the massive wave that was hurtling towards us.

I booked it, sprinting to the main mast, scrambling up the rigging just as the wave hit.

It curled over, smashing the boat in the middle. We might as well re-name this ship The Titanic at the rate this is going.

The entire ship jolted heavily, causing me to nearly fall out of the rigging, my tentacles being the only thing that kept me up there.

I flinched and growled as some spray from the wave reached me, burning lightly into my arms and legs.

As soon as the main impact hit, I jumped down, landing in a sprint, bolting for the lever that would drop the anchor once pulled.

In a few seconds I was there, gripping the wet wood and pulling, grunting at its stiffness.

"Come on!" I yelled to myself, yanking the lever.

It jolted, the anchor chain suddenly being rapidly dragged into the sea.

The anchor had dropped.

I immediately ran for it, aiming for my cabin.

"CAPTAIN!"

I skidded to a stop, looking round just in time to see Horror stumble over as the ship jolted heavily again.

My tentacles lashed out, grabbing stuff for stability.

Horror on the other hand went flying, right over the railings, going overboard.

On instinct I lunged forwards, my tentacles shooting forwards in an attempt to grab him.

I felt one wrap round something and I instantly gripped it, yelping as I got tugged over to the side of the ship from the force of whatever I'd grabbed yanking on my tentacle.

I looked over the edge, relief flooding me as I saw that I had indeed caught Horror, my tentacle being wrapped around his ankle.

I may be considered heartless and emotionless, but I still care about my crew, even if I don't show it much.

I dragged Horror back on deck, flinging him over to the open hatch that led to the lower deck.

He yelped, crying out as he fell through and rolled down the stairs.

Seems cruel, but that was the quickest way.

I quickly slammed the hatch shut with my tentacles so that no more water would get into the lower deck.

After that I sprinted to my cabin, panicking as another giant wave reared up.

If that one hit the ship my only hope would be my cabin. There was no where else to hide.

Movement caught my eye and I focused my vision to see Cross stood at one of the small windows at the side of the cabin, his expression shocked and terrified.

"THE DOOR!" I yelled. "OPEN THE DOOR!"

Cross understood what I meant immediately, scrambling to the door and opening it.

I put on a final desperate burst of speed as the wave came a few meters away from the ship, diving into the room, crashing into my bed in the process.

As soon as I was in, Cross slammed the door shut, just as the wave hit.

The force nearly sent both of us flying, Cross barely managing to stay pressed against the door as he fumbled with the lock, securing it.

I got slammed against my bed again, my head now ringing.

Once the door was locked, Cross ran over to me, a look of panic on his face. "A-Are you okay?"

I winced, nodding as I got to my feet. "This storm shouldn't last too long...all we need to do it wait it out and h–!"

I was cut short by another wave slamming into the ship, making me stumble forwards and crash into Cross, making him yelp and trip back, falling onto the floor, with me on top of him. Pinning him down.
