Siren Cove
---Cross' POV----
I sighed and leant against Nightmare as the dark ring of jutting rocks signifying Sirens Cove came ever closer.
Nightmare glanced at me, taking a hand off of the wheel to wrap around my waist reassuringly. "Stay calm Cross..."
I nodded, shivering. "You saw what those sirens did to Geno...who knows what they'll do to us..."
"I don't even want to think about it Cross...but if they come for us just fight with all you've got okay?"
I pressed closer to him, hugging him tightly. "Okay..."
He sighed, kissing the top of my skull softly. "We'll get through this Cross...together..."
I went to answer, but was cut off by Error scrambling up the steps, and skidding to a stop by our side.
"Captain, we're about to enter Siren Cove...should we prepare any guns or cannons?"
Nightmare looked on ahead of us, his eye scanning across the glassy black water inside the ring of rocks. We were already halfway through the entrance. Soon we'd be at the mercy of the sirens.
"Load the guns...but not the cannons...we want to try and get through this as peacefully as possible..."
Error nodded, running back down and yelling orders to the crew as they scrambled about the ship, grabbing guns from the weapon racks and pulling swords from their sheaths.
"This is going to go so badly..." Nightmare muttered as he walked over to the edge of the ship, pulling me along with him.
I winced, gripping onto his hand as I leaned over the edge slightly, peering down at the black water, squinting my eyes as I caught sight of my reflection staring creepily back at me.
"Wh-What do we do if we see a siren?" I asked nervously as I stood back up straight, my mind playing scenes where I could fall into the water where I'd thrash about, screaming and panicking before I'd feel a sharp pain in my ankle and be dragged down underwater, never to see the light again.
"We pray..." Nightmare muttered. "Pray that their in a good mood..."
My eyes scanned across the water, looking for any signs of these elusive sirens. Any small bump or jolt that appeared in the flat water would make me tense up or freeze suddenly before relaxing once I realised it was just a small ripple or wave.
"Cross..." Nightmare said softly, one of his hands reaching down to grasp mine tightly. "I don't want you to leave my sight...okay?"
I squeezed his hand and rested my head on his shoulder. "Don't worry about me Nighty..."
"I will Cross..." He murmured, turning to kiss my forehead. "You're all I ever worry about..."
I blushed slightly, nuzzling him. "If it makes you feel better then okay...I won't leave your side..."
"Good." He visibly relaxed, smiling weakly at me. "I don't know what I'd do without you..."
I blushed more. "You'd be fine..."
Nightmare shook his head before looking out across the water. "No Cross...I really wouldn't..."
---Horror's POV----
I was below deck, keeping an eye on Reaper's little slave. He was curled up in a ball, his eye wide with fear and his body stiff with tension.
This is the place that made him get so mauled in the first place. The place where the sirens practically ripped him to shreds.
I shivered, looking up. I really hope that doesn't happen to the rest of us.
"How far to go till we're out?" I called up at Killer, who was stood near the top of the steps, looking out across top deck.
He crouched down, looking at me. "Nearly half way..."
I hissed quietly to myself. Every current second seemed to be dragging out, lasting a whole minute. It's nerve wrecking.
Eventually I stood up. "This is bullshit, I'm checking it out."
Reaper's slave glanced at me as I made my way over to Killer, but didn't move, simply watching me as I walked up the stairs and onto top deck.
No sooner than I had gone up I wanted to go back down. The atmosphere was so creepy up here that I felt a shiver run down my spine. It was a horrible feeling. Like a bead of water was slowly traveling down my spine, making me jolt and go tense whenever it moved.
I cautiously made my way over to the edge of the ship, looking out over the black, glassy water.
God help anyone that falls in.
I took a step back, going to head back down below deck where I felt safer.
I didn't even get to take one step.
Suddenly the ship jolted massively, crunching into something, sending half the crew flying and slamming into the hard wooden deck.
I yelped, gripping onto anything I could find that would stop me from falling in. I tumbled into a cannon, whacking my head on the cold metal.
I cried out in pain, but clung to it, panicking as I heard the sound of someone screaming followed by a splash.
Someone had fallen in.
I scrambled to my feet, grabbing onto the edge of the ship and looking over to see who it was.
It was Jonathan.
One of the men that took care of the cannons and loaded weapons. Quite a funny guy actually.
He was thrashing in the water, trying desperately to swim back to the ship.
I could only watch, helpless as he let out a sudden scream and thrashed even more in the water, desperately clawing at it as if he could get a grip on the liquid.
Bubbles rapidly surrounded him and before I even had time to call out he suddenly disappeared, yanked down beneath the surface.
I stumbled back, gulping harshly. "Shit."
I turned around, attempting to get back below deck again, but I froze. Froze from a mixture of fear, shock, and surprise.
At at the end of the ship, on the edge, was a Siren.
They were staring right at me with narrowed eyes, their purple-heart-pupils looking me up and down.
I blinked, frozen.
I don't know if it's my mind being legit, or if this is just part of a sirens abilities, but man there was no denying they were beautiful.
They were a skeleton, top half exposed to show white, scarred bones with little flecks of what looked like seaweed stuck to the surface.
Their eyes seemed so entrancing that I had to blink rapidly, forcing my own eyes to look somewhere else.
Their tail. It was long and slim, covered in beautiful purple scales that reflected the sunlight perfectly. The tail fins looked so delicate and intricate that it seemed one touch would be enough to brake them.
I have no idea how long I'd stood there simply staring at them, but I was suddenly snapped out of my trance as I heard Killer yelling frantically at me to run.
I managed to take one step before the siren lunged forwards, pinning me down to the deck, hissing loudly.
I yelped and thrashed, trying to push them off of me, kicking my legs and wriggling my body to no avail.
I could hear Killer and Dust yelling my name frantically as they ran over with other crew members, pointing their guns and swords at the siren.
It hissed again before reeling backwards, yanking me with it. I immediately panicked, clawing at the floor with my fingers as I got dragged over to the edge of the water.
I could see Killer chucking something out of the corner of my eye and before I could process what was happening, a knife sunk deep into the sirens tail, making it let out an ear-splitting screech before it loosened its grip on me.
I immediately kicked it away, trying to scramble out, but they was stronger than I thought they'd be and before I knew it I was dragged overboard, down into the dark black water.
