Ship?

---Nightmare's POV----

I had fallen asleep last night in a good mood, the smallest of smiles on my face.

I don't know why, but that little fluffy skeleton really does make me happy. Something I haven't been in years most people tell me.

I stretched, yawning as I sat up in bed, rubbing my eye tiredly. God I wanted nothing more than to flop down on my bed and just lay there all day.

Sighing, I stood up, getting into my clothes in my half-minded daze. I was stuck halfway through sleep, and halfway through being awake.

As I walked to the door, my mind wandered back to last Night, back to when I'd taken Cross away from the others to where no one else was. Back to when I wrapped my arms around his waist and pulled him into my chest. Back to when I kissed him. Back to the longing and desperate expression on his face as I had pulled away from that kiss. Back to when I walked back to my cabin, leaving him in a daze.

I suddenly froze. Cross! I'd left him last night having no clue where he'd go.

I quickly grabbed the door handle and strode outside, my eye scanning the deck for my small ball of innocent fluff.

I couldn't see him anywhere. A quick survey found top deck confirmed that he wasn't here, making me immediately run down to bottom deck, looking round the cannons, storage room, and main sleeping area for the rest of the crew.

He wasn't there.

The only place left to check were the cells.

I marched over, forcing myself to keep calm. "He'll be there and he'll be fine..." I muttered to myself as I balled my hands into fists.

I turned the corner and almost let out a cry of relief.

There curled up in the corner of a cell, his back pressed up against the wall, was Cross.

I quickly walked in, checking that he seemed okay.

He must've came here after I left him. Too hesitant to go to me, to scared to be with the rest of the crew. So he decided to sleep here, on the hard wooden floor.

I chuckled softly, crouching down next to him before gently scooping him into my arms. "Why'd you sleep here silly?" I murmured, one of my hands brushing a bit of hay off of his face.

"Mmm...Because..." He mumbled, a bunch of sleepy nonsense coming out after.

I snickered, turning around and starting to walk back to the stairs. "What was that, sweetheart?"

"Mmm...nowhere else to sleeeeep..." He whined, dragging out the 'e' in sleep.

I smirked, walking up the stairs to main deck. "You should have came to me, silly."

He shook his head. "Mmm...I'm not supposed to trust you...so no..."

I grinned, heading for my cabin. "Well your trusting me to carry you~"

"That's because I'm too tired to protest..." He muttered, his eyes still being closed.

"Sure."

I kicked open the door to my cabin with my foot, my arms already being occupied with holding Cross.

"What are you...doing?" He mumbled, clinging to me weakly as I placed him down on my bed.

"Letting you sleep somewhere comfier." I whispered as I pried him off of me, getting him fully on the bed.

He instantly curled up, purring. "Mmm...soft..."

I smirked, draping the blanket over him. "Rest, sweetheart."

He nodded sleepily before going limp, his chest rising and falling slowly under the blanket.

"That's better..."

I watched him, smiling to myself. He's just so god damn cu–

"CAPTAIN!"

I jolted, hearing someone bang on the door.

"What is it?!" I called, glancing at Cross to check the loud noise hadn't disturbed him.

"It's another ship Captain! Other Pirates!"

I stiffened, frozen for a moment before I snapped to my senses, pushing open the door and running out on deck.

Killer greeted me, his normally emotionless expression had changed to slight worry.

"Where is it?" I growled, glancing over the side of the ship quickly to look for any sign of our opponents.

"Over there." Killer muttered, pointing to the opposite side of the ship that I was looking at.

I spun on my heels, looking quickly in the direction he was pointing.

I growled.

Killer hadn't been lying.

In the distance, a giant ship was coming our way.

It had pitch black sails with rips and holes covering the entire surface. It's wood had been stained black by some sort of tree sap and at the front of the ship, what genuinely looked like a dead mermaid could be seek attached to the front hull of the ship. To top it all off, waving from the tallest mast, was a flag. A flag adorned with a skull and cross bones.

"Shit." I muttered, reaching a hand back to grab Killers jacket sleeve, to busy eyeing the ship to just turn around and tell him something. "Killer..."

"Yes Captain?"

"Get the cannons ready, prepare top deck. These might not be friendly Pirates..."

Killer nodded, running off to bottom deck, yelling orders and threats.

I sighed, walking up to the raised part of the deck, up to the wheel. If those Pirates attack, one of these ships is gonna be in serious trouble.

Our ship has been through more fights against the navy, other random ships and the occasional passing Pirates.

Each time leaves with us victorious in some way. Whether we burnt their ships down, ran away leaving them struggling or massacred their entire crew, we've never lost a fight at sea.

But looking at this ship. I wouldn't underestimate any fight. Things could get ugly here. And I'm not looking forwards to it.

As the ship steadily grew closer, I could start to make out small figures running around across the ship, seeming semi-panicked about the whole 'coming across other pirates' situation.

I heard quick footsteps and glanced behind me to see Error, his expression also slightly worried. "What do we do if they attack Captain?"

I growled. "What do you think? We're gonna stand there and take it or run away? No. We'll fight back!"

Error nodded quickly, his mismatched eyes scanning across the ship.

"Captain!" He suddenly said, making me jolt.

"What?" I turned to look at him.

"They're lowering their flag! They don't want to fight!"

My attention immediately whipped back to the ship, my eye narrowing as I say that Error was indeed right,

The Pirate flag had been lowered, symbolising surrender.

"Go take our one down then!" I yelled at Error.

He jumped, yelling. "Yes sir!" Before scrambling off, running to get the flag down to show that we wouldn't attack them in return.

I blinked as I saw members of the crew on the other ship prepare a boarding plank.

They were coming on board?

I walked down to the main deck, crossing my arms over my chest and waiting as the ship drew ever closer.

The sound of a door opening to my left made me glance over at my cabin. Just in time to see Cross stumble out, his eyes scanning the deck sleepily, widening as he saw me.

Immediately he walked over, clinging to my arm, making the two of us blush slightly.

"What's happening?" He asked with a yawn, giving the cutest little expression I'd ever seen.

"Other Pirates..." I muttered, my eye going back to the ship that had just stopped next to ours.

Cross saw the ship and instantly let go of my arm, backing up a bit.

I stayed still, watching as the boarding plank fell over, hitting our side of the ship, creating a bridge to cross over.

I raised an 'eyebrow' as a figure stepped up, instantly walking over and dropping onto my side.

"Well well well..." They called. "You're the last person I expected to see here, Nightmare."

I blinked looking at them.

I took in the long black cloak, the dark hooded face, and the ghostly wide smile and chuckled.

"The same could be said right here. Reaper."
