---Nightmare's POV----

I lunged forwards, slashing both my swords out at the same time, slicing a siren in the chest as it lunged at me, it's claw-like fingers slashing out at me.

It let out a screech as the swords slashed through its chest, making it fall back and tumble over the edge of the ship, back down into the black water with splash.

A scream from behind me signalled Cross cutting down another sirens with the massive knife he'd summoned out of nowhere earlier.

"Nightmare this isn't working!" Cross yelled as he stumbled back, his back pressing into mine. "There's too many of them!"

"Just keep holding them off!" I yelled. "We can make it!"

No sooner than I had said that, a siren lunged out of no where, tackling me down to the floor with unbelievable force.

I yelped, crying out as my shoulder hit the deck awkwardly and almost popped out of place.

The siren on top of me immediately tried to scratch me, its eyes burning with hatred.

I looked away, shutting my eye so that I wouldn't be hypnotised or something by it as my tentacles stabbed at it, making it shriek and thrash in pain.

I kicked and pushed at it, trying to throw it off with my tentacles.

I had nearly succeeded when a sudden scream from my right caused me to freeze, my eye widening as I saw three sirens grab Cross tightly and start dragging him back to the water.

"Nightmare!" He called desperately as the knife was torn from his hands and thrown across the deck.

I hissed, kicking the siren currently on me right of, sending them tumbling over the edge of the water and into the sea.

As soon as it was off me I lunged for Cross, my tentacles wrapping around his waist and yanking him free from the sirens, into my arms where he clung, shaking and gasping.

I growled loudly, gripping onto him tightly.

The sirens hissed, starting to surround us, their eyes narrowing and claws coming out, ready to rip us to shreds.

Then suddenly a loud screech rang out, making everyone -sirens included- freeze.

I eyed the frozen sirens warily as another screech rang out, making them tilt their heads to the side.

Then suddenly, without warning they all left. Diving off of the edge of the ship and back into the water, dragging other and wounded sirens with them.

I blinked, letting go of Cross and scrambling over to to the edge of the ship, trying to see where they were going.

All the sirens seemed to he heading towards one siren in particular. It had its top half out of the water, its eyes were glowing, as if they were drawing the sirens over.

The lead siren let out one last screech before disappearing, diving under the waves. Immediately all the other sirens followed, disappearing down into the dark water.

I stood there frozen for a moment before I snapped to my senses. "EVERYONE BACK TO YOUR POSTS! QUICK!"

Immediately everyone was running about the desk, getting to their positions and working to make the ship get going again.

Who knows how long those sirens would be held back for. We need to get out here as quick as possible just in case they decide to suddenly attack again.

Cross joined me at the wheel, clinging to me as he looked around nervously.

"Wh-What happened?"

I shrugged, adjusting the wheel. "I have no clue. But I'm not complaining..."

Cross nodded, burying his face into my arm. "Neither am I..."

I pet him softly, sighing. That was far too close. All of us could have died...Cross nearly got dragged over.

If those sirens had torn him away and dived in with him. You can bet on your life I would have jumped right in after them to save him. I wouldn't even care about the consequences that being in the water would bring.

I nuzzled Cross, kissing the top of his skull reassuringly as my eye scanned across the deck, trying to asses how many crew members we'd lost.

Almost half of them were gone.

I blinked, looking over at Killer. He was leaning over the side of the ship, looking down into the water.

I opened my mouth to call over to him, ask what he was doing when he suddenly let out a shout of excitement.

"HORROR!"

I immediately let go of the wheel, running over to the edge of the ship and looking over.

My eye widened in surprise.

Stood on one of the jutting rocks, waving his arms frantically, was Horror.

"Help!" He yelled, watching helplessly as we started sailing past.

"Shit someone throw some rope for him!" I yelled quickly.

No sooner than the words had left my mouth, Cross scrambled past me and down to main deck, over to one of the cannons.

It was one of the cannons from earlier. It still had rope tied to it from when we had to rescue the entire crew from the water.

Cross grabbed onto the rope and tossed it over, chucking it so that the end hit the rock where Horror was stood.

He immediately lunged for it, grabbing on as the ship sailed past, out of siren cove and to safety.

"Everyone grab hold and pull!" Killer yelled as he gripped onto the rope with Cross, starting to pull it so that Horror was dragged up.

With help from the rest of the crew, Horror was up and sprawled across the deck in a few seconds.

Immediately everyone crowded round him, asking frantic and curious questions.

Horror winced, far too dazed and confused to process any of them.

I walked over, pushing everyone out of the way. "Give him time to breathe idiots!"

Everyone went silent, looking down at the floor as Horror got his breath back, still laying starfished out on the floor.

"Well then..." He muttered weakly. "Where do I start?"

Killer glanced me before speaking up. "How about you start with how you managed to survive and escape that siren after it dragged you overboard and down into the water?"

Horror laughed softly, scratching the side of his head before speaking. "Well...I had a full blown panic attack and kicked at the siren, pathetically hoping that I could make it let go.

By some miracle, it did and I immediately swam for my life, heading for the closest rock that broke the surface of the water."

Killer blinked. "So that Siren just let you go?"

Horror smirked at him. "Well...not really...I went round to the other side of the rock, to be more hidden you know. But then of course just to my luck that very siren was on that rock, bleeding out and dying from a wound caused by that knife you threw at it."

"Did you kill it?!" Someone cut in, causing a ripple of conversation to spread.

"Quiet." I growled. "Let him speak."

Horror glanced at me gratefully before answering. "No...I didn't...I helped it..."

"YOU WHAT?!"

By now I'd given up on trying to keep them quiet. They clearly weren't going to shut up. No matter how many times I order them.

Horror winced, shifting so that he was sitting up. "I helped it and then in return it helped me. It called back all the other sirens, making them leave the ship and stop attacking you."

I blinked, deciding it was my time to talk. "So you're telling us that you're the reason that the sirens stopped attacking?"

Horror shrugged before nodding. "I guess so?"

The entire crew went silent for a moment before they all lunged forwards, tackling him down as they praised, congratulated and thanked him.

I simply rolled my eye, glancing over to the front of the ship as I realised that Geno was stood up there.

He was clearly still shaky on his legs and in pain, but he seemed fixated on something.

Before I could call out to him he turned around, facing all of us.

"I can see the cave!"
