---Horror's POV----
As soon as I hit the water I full on panicked. I immediately started kicking and thrashing, desperately trying to shake off the siren that had grabbed me and pulled me down.
I felt my foot hit something solid and soon after a screech rang out, followed by the grip on my ankle lessening and letting go.
I immediately pushed upwards, swimming frantically towards the surface.
As soon as my head broke the surface I gasped for air, quickly treading water as I looked around frantically for the ship.
It was behind me somehow. The siren that had grabbed me had ended up dragging me closer to the exit than the ship was.
I was around ten meters from the nearest jutting rock.
In a desperate attempt to live, I started swimming over to it quickly, trying to create as little splashes and noise in the water as possible, not wanting to lure the sirens over to me.
I panted, feeling my clothes weigh me down as I continued to swim forwards, the rock being only a few meters away now.
With a few more struggled strokes I made it, my fingers hitting wet slippery rock. I immediately gripped hold, digging my fingers into it and throwing my other hand forwards to grasp at the rock.
I pushed my feet against the side of the rock, giving myself a pathetic boost as I dragged myself out of the water and onto a flat-ish ledge on the rock.
Once up, I lay there, gasping and panting for air.
I'd somehow managed to make it without drowning or being snatched by another siren.
Luck must really be on my side today.
I groaned, pushing myself up so that I was sitting instead of lying down. My eyes quickly darted over the water, searching for any signs of nearby sirens.
At the moment I saw none, but then a sudden scream drew my attention to the ship.
That sight nearly made me scream.
It had been swarmed. Sirens were up the sides, on deck, and waiting at in the water below.
The crew were desperately fighting them off, shooting and swinging swords at any that came close, but time after time a siren would suddenly lunge forwards and just barrel them right overboard, down to the other awaiting sirens.
It was beginning to look like a loosing battle.
I could see Killer and Dust working together with a few other crew members, dodging and shooting with guns.
But even they were struggling.
The only people that looked like they had a chance of survival at the moment was Nightmare and Cross.
The two of them were on the raised part of the deck up by the wheel, back to back fighting off the sirens.
Nightmare had his two swords out, and Cross had what seemed to be a giant knife that he was using to slash at the sirens.
Their position was actually quite good. The back to back position meant that they could both see if a siren climbed up the side. In addition, the fact that the main deck was connected to their spot by stairs meant that the sirens struggled to get up there, so they could easily slash them down as they tried to get up.
But soon even they will tire...I don't even want to think of what will happen when they do...
I managed to tear my attention away from the ship and looked around my rock. It was actually quite tall and upon further inspection, I realised that the flat ledge I was on lead further round to the other side of the rock.
Having nothing better to do, I cautiously made my way round, going to the other side of the rock.
No sooner than I'd turned the corner I had a literal heart attack.
It was a siren.
The siren.
The siren that had attacked me on the ship and dragged me down was laying on the rock, gasping and panting for air, it looked almost like it couldn't breathe from pain or something.
That's when I noticed the growing puddle of blood around it. And that's when I noticed the knife buried into the top of its tail, buried right into the hilt at its hip.
It was the knife Killer had thrown at it when it had attacked me. It was still stuck in its tail.
I'm not surprised. Killer makes his own knives, and this was one of his barbed ones. The idea is that they have small little barbs and notches along the sharp sides, meaning that they can sink into something easily, but are almost impossible to pull out.
The siren had clearly tried pulling it out, resulting in the bloody mess at the side of its tail.
Not knowing why, I took another step forwards.
That's when it noticed me.
It immediately panicked, hissing and screeching weakly at me.
I took another step closer and it let out a sound that could almost be classed as a whimper. It was properly terrified.
"Hey there..." I muttered softly, taking small steps closer. "I'm not going to hurt you..."
God I'm retarded. I don't even know if these even understand me. They clearly can't speak words other than screeches and shrieks, so what's to say it even has a clue what I'm saying.
I crouched down a bit, making sure my movements were slow and small. That way I'd hopefully look like less of a threat and more like someone that just wanted to help.
Helping a siren? I rolled my eyes. Oh yes, mum raised me well.
The siren slowly calmed down, gasping for breath, its screeching session clearly having worn it out.
I smiled nervously, moving so that I was crouched down right next to it.
God if I was human I would have pissed myself five times by now.
If it wanted, the siren could easily kill me right now. It could scratch me with its claws, it could throw me into the water for the other sirens, it could suddenly drag me down and drown me.
But it hadn't yet, so I've got some faith in the poor thing.
"I-I'm going to try and help you...okay?" I said softly, pointing at the knife in its side and miming pulling it out.
Their purple-pink heart eyes looked right at me as they tilted their head to the side curiously.
I sighed, shakily reaching out a hand to grip the hilt of the knife.
Immediately the siren hissed, its eyes narrowing.
"I know..." I murmured, giving it a reassuring look. "Trust me..."
To my surprise, the siren relaxed, nodding.
I blinked. "You can understand me?"
It blinked in response, its face showing no emotions other than curiosity and pain now.
I shook my head rapidly, returning my attention back to the hilt of the knife.
I re-adjusted my grip on it, sweating slightly as I inhaled sharply. "Oh lord please don't kill me."
Then without a second thought, I twisted the knife before pulling it out in one sharp, swift motion.
The siren let out an ear-splitting screech, shoving me away and diving into the water, it's tail slamming me into the rock as it dived.
I collapsed, laughing.
I'd done it.
I'd saved a siren without dying.
Not many people can say they've done that before.
But then again, at this rate, no one will know what I did considering the dire situation were all currently in.
I closed my eyes, sighing. What a shitty way to die huh?
Suddenly something poked my foot, making me jolt and open my eyes.
It was the same siren. It had its top half out of the water, its purple tail staying in the water.
"Hi..." I mumbled weakly, shifting my foot.
It blinked, staring at me curiously.
"Hey um...I know you can't exactly understand me...but uh...I'd like to ask a favour..." I said quietly.
It tilted its head to the side, clearly listening to what I was saying.
"W-We mean no harm...we're all just trying to help...the oceans in danger...c-can't you let us through?"
It blinked, its expression turning thoughtful. Then before I could say another word, it dived back underwater out of sight.
I groaned, forcing myself to get to my feet. At this rate I might as well fling myself into the water for the sirens. None of us are going to make it.
I blinked as I saw my siren pop up in the water. It stared at the ship for an moment before looking over at me and...smiling.
I blinked, frozen.
It then seemed to smirk before it looked back at the ship, letting out the loudest screech I've ever heard.
It was loud and ringing, lasting only a few seconds.
Instantly all the sirens had stopped, looking over.
My siren let out another commanding screech, almost as if it was telling the others what to do.
Then to my shock and surprise all the sirens went over to it, jumping off the ship and leaving the crew in a confused and shocked state.
I blinked in surprise as my siren turned to face me. It smiled at me, and this time I smiled back.
Then all the sirens dived back underwater, leaving not a single trace they'd been there in the first place.
The ship was free, and the remaining crew were now safe.
I smiled, looking down at the water below me to see the siren pop up again.
"Heya..."
It smiled, holding its hand up.
Crouching down, I held its hand lightly, making it let out what almost sounded like a giggle before it let go, splashing me and diving back underwater, never to be seen again.
