---Cross' POV----

I blinked as Nightmare broke away from the group, walking over to Geno who had suddenly appeared out of nowhere at the front of the boat.

I immediately followed, pushing through the crowd to join him, grasping onto his hand lightly and intertwining our fingers as he walked.

He smiled at me before stopping behind Geno. "What did you say?"

Geno glanced at us before pointing a still bleeding, unhealed arm at something. "I said, I can see the cave..."

Nightmare and I immediately looked over, our eyes widening as we spotted the giant jutting structure arching from the waves.

Nightmare blinked, staring at it for a moment before turning around and yelling orders at the crew, telling them what to do and what to prepare.

I shivered, eyeing the cave.

It really was monstrous. The whole structure sent terrible trickles of cold down my back, making me freeze up and go tense.

The black, intimidating rocks looked like they'd been drawn up from the deepest, darkest depths of the ocean where sunlight never managed to reach them.

I know rocks are lifeless. But if there was a way to determine living rocks from dead rocks. These ones would be dead.

I leant against the edge of the ship, my eyes widening further as I saw what rested beside the entrance.

It was a ship.

But not just any ship.

Reaper's ship. Well...some of it.

"Oh God..." I whispered, quickly surveying what used to be Reaper's magnificent dark wood ship.

It had been split in half.

One massive break ran through the middle, splitting it cleanly. One half of the ship was thrown against the rocks, the other was half sunk in the water.

The masts were snapped, sails torn and ripped, sides wrecked, wood scattered everywhere, supplies floating lost in the water and bodies...so many bodies.

I gulped, holding back the urge to throw up as I looked over the mauled bodies floating face down in the water.

Geno winced looking them over. Thwy had been, even if he'd been there against his will, his fellow crew mates and friends. So seeing all of them dead must have stung.

But then again. He did kill Reaper without remorse.

Suddenly my thoughts were broken as Geno spoke up, making me jolt.

"Hey...Cross..."

I tensed, looking over at him nervously.

Immediately I knew that whatever he was about to tell me wouldn't be good. The expression on his face was not promising.

"Y-Yeah?" I squeaked, my voice coming out weak and strained.

"You know that the Krakens main objective is to keep the key safe...right?"

I nodded hesitantly.

If the key is left unclaimed anywhere in the ocean, the Kraken will come for it and collect it before hiding itself in the heart of the cave, keeping the key safe at its centre, making it almost impossible for anyone to get to. Which would be ideal, but we need to lock the chest first.

"Well...it's gonna be literally impossible to get it, right?"

I nodded again, this time with even more hesitation.

"I think I've found an alternative way to  end this whole situation without having to battle the Kraken."

I swallowed, my throat dry. "A-And what might th-that be?"

Geno grinned, his eye looking dead at me.

"We kill you."

I immediately panicked, stumbling back away from him which only made him grin wider.

"Y-You wouldn't!"

He laughed, stepping closer to me. "Oh I would~ I'd put the safety of the ocean over some pathetic land-liver any day~"

I backed up more, just trying to find Nightmare or someone at this point. "Y-You know Nightmare w-would kill you!"

Geno shrugged. "He can't do that if I separate you, can he~?"

At this point I'd had enough. I whimpered, turning around and running across the ship, my eyes quickly scanning across the deck for Nightmare.

I caught sight of him talking to Error, the two of them looking at each other seriously before glancing over at the cave.

I ran over but then skidded to a stop, not wanting to barrel in and interrupt their conversation.

I forced myself to stay still, my body tensing and shaking as I saw Geno walking over. Slowly and purposely making his way across the deck.

Nightmare glanced over at me as he was talking to Error and frowned, instantly noticing my distressed expression.

He waved me over and I quickly ran to his side, hugging him and burying my face into his chest, calming slightly.

"Cross? Are you okay?" He asked softly, his hand petting the top of my skull.

I purred weakly and nodded. "I am now..."

Nightmare sighed, nuzzling me before looking back at Error. "I guarantee the Kraken will go for our ship...just like it did to Reapers...I don't want to leave it unattended, but then anyone that stays on it is sure to die..."

Error sighed. "Yeah, but do you really think having all of us in that cave would be helpful? No."

Nightmare groaned in frustration, burying his face into the crook of my neck, making me shiver. "This is bullshit..."

"I know Nighty..." I mumbled, nuzzling him.

Suddenly someone spoke up. "I know how to help your little...Kraken problem..."

I flinched, glaring at the person that had talked.

It was Geno.

Nightmare narrowed his eye, noticing how tense I'd gone upon his sudden arrival. "And what would that be?" He growled.

Geno held his hands up innocently. "Woah, no need to sound so angry with me, I'm trying to help."

"Get to the point."

Geno sighed, shooting me a cold glare before smiling weakly at Nightmare. "There's a simple way to kill the Kraken."

Nightmare was paying attention now.

"What might that simple way be?"

Geno smirked. "There are passages in the cave. I discovered them last time I went to the cave. Reaper was taking so long and I decided to explore quickly. There are little carved tunnels around the back of the cave. All of them lead down to the centre of the cave...where the Kraken hides its body.

It may seem indestructible, but it's centre body is actually extremely weak and sensitive. A big enough wound to there could kill it. That's also where it'll be keeping the key, so it fits in perfectly if you go down there."

I froze, gripping onto Nightmare more. "You?!"

Geno nodded, grinning widely at me. "Only you, me and Nightmare will have to go into that cave. Obviously I can't go down and kill it in this state." He showed us his still bleeding and scarred arms.

I hissed at him.

"And of course you can't go down Cross. You're far too...valuable. So then of course, Nightmare would go down there. He's obviously the strongest and most capable one here after all.

I growled loudly, my grip on Nightmare only tightening.

Nightmare hissed softly before looking down at me. "Cross...he does have a point..."

I shook my head quickly. "N-No."

Nightmare went so say something in response to me, only to be cut off by the sound of someone yelling.

Nightmare glanced over, his eye narrowing. "We're here..."

I looked over, freezing as I saw that he was right.

The ship had come to a stop at the cave mouth, resting by the wreck of Reaper's ship.

"Lets go then!" Geno said quickly.

I flinched. There was far too much happiness in his words concerning what we're about to do.

Nightmare sighed, gripping onto my hand tightly. "Lets go..."

I whimpered softly, but didn't resist as he pulled me across the deck and over to the edge where Geno was already stood.

Error walked up to Nightmare, smirking slightly. "If the Kraken attacks, we'll scream. Okay?"

Nightmare rolled his eye. "Wow Error. You really know how to reassure someone."

Error laughed. "I try my best, Captain."

Nightmare chuckled before looking at me. "Ready?"

I nodded before shaking my head, making Nightmare sigh and let go of my hand before jumping down to the cave rocks.

I yelped, immediately jumping down after him, landing without falling or stumbling.

Nightmare smiled, intertwining our fingers again and nuzzling me.

A few seconds later Geno jumped down, joining us.

He rolled his eye, walking straight into the cave with us following slowly behind him.

Turning a corner, we blinked as we caught sight of Geno. He was stood over something, giggling slightly.

I think he's fucking lost it.

We walked closer, tensing as we saw the pile of dust on the floor, Reaper's cloak in the middle.

"So he is dead..." Nightmare muttered, catching Geno's attention.

"Oh you bet he is. I made sure of it when I stabbed his own sword right through his pathetic soul." He giggled again.

Nightmare sighed, stepping around the Dust and over to the pedestal holding up the beautiful chest.

I breathed in sharply. It was indeed open, and the key was nowhere in sight.

Geno walked up next to us, smirking. "Like I said, the Kraken has gone and taken the key. So you." He pointed at Nightmare. "Need to go down there."

We both looked over to where he was pointing, each of us tensing slightly as we caught sight of the seemingly rotting tunnel he was talking about.

"No. You're not going in there." I said quickly.

But Nightmare was already walking over.

I panicked. "Nightmare no!"

He stopped by the cavern entrance, smiling softly at me. "It's okay Cross...I'll be as quick as possible."

I ran over, pulling him into a desperate kiss before he could leave.

He blinked, stumbling back a bit in surprise, but kissed back, wrapping his arms around my waist as I did the same for his neck.

After about a minute I pulled back. "P-Please be careful...and b-be quick..."

Nightmare kissed my cheek, nodding. "I'll try, sweetheart..."

I reluctantly let go of him and he nuzzled me, pulling out a sword before turning to face the tunnel, breathing sharply before walking down into the darkness.

I swallowed harshly, flinching at the sound of a sword being dragged across stone behind me.

I slowly turned around, glaring Geno down.

He was leant against the pedestal, a hand ghosting over the treasures in the chest, a wide smirk on his face.

I growled as he stood up straighter, pointing the dust covered sword at me.

He laughed.

"Oh I'm going to enjoy killing you~"
