Betrayal
❤️💜MMMMMMMMMMM 11K💜❤️
---Reaper's POV----
We were making quick progress. The map Geno was reading showed that we were on course and in good time.
I smirked, leaning against the wheel. The look on Nightmare's face was priceless. Pure rage mixed with horror and shock.
He deserves this betrayal to even out when he set my crew against me in a mutiny.
I had trusted him back then. I thought he'd be loyal. (Loyal like Georgia from Love Island am I right? XD)
But he betrayed me. Ruined me. Abandoned me on that island with no food or water. Just a sandy mound in the endless blue ocean.
It was torture.
I was the only one that made it out alive.
There had been seven other loyal crew members stranded with me. Two of them got into a big fight and needed up killing each other, one got eaten by sharks when they'd gone to try to catch fish or some sort of food.
Two starved to death, and the last two killed themselves.
I was left there alone for a whole weak before a passing ship saw my frantic smoke signals.
They rescued me. A poor bedraggled monster that looked like it had just been thrown up by a shark or something.
I stayed with them for two weeks on their ship until they reached the nearest port. Then I left and went off to start my new life. To start all over again.
It's taken two years to get where I am now. To have a ship. To have a crew.
To be a Captain. To hunt for treasure.
And I'm not loosing that again.
Opening this chest and taking the treasure will be what finally puts me above Nightmare. What will prove my superiority. Prove that he made a mistake the day he held a sword to his Captain's neck.
I growled, looking out at the on-coming rocky cluster that jutted out from the sea.
It's black slimy rocks run in an almost ring in the centre of the ocean. One way in. One way out.
Its name?
Siren Cove.
Rumour has it, if a ship enters this circle of rocks, the sirens will entice them, seduce them with their beautiful looks and singing, only to drag them down onto the cold depths of the ocean to drown them.
Of course I don't actually believe in that shit. None of the Ocean Legends are actually true.
Geno did say that Nightmare's pet said that if you open the chest, all the legends and myths of the ocean will become true.
I don't believe that for one second. But then again, look what happened to Nightmare when he didn't believe the warnings about the curse in that temple.
Life would be so much easier if I could have just opened the chest right then and there when Geno had slammed it down on my desk. But apparently it needs to be opened in the cave. If you don't then something bad happens. Geno didn't say anything else on that topic.
I glanced over the edge of the ship as we passed through the entrance to siren cove, my eyes scanning over the jutting out rocks warily.
They were sharp and menacing. One big hit into them, and the whole ship goes down, sinking into the black, murky water. A fate I'm not to fond of.
We still moved with some speed, but slowed as soon as we entered the rocky circle properly. Any sort of wind seemed to disappear, just dry, slightly suffocating air.
I glanced around, my eyes darting across the black water, focusing on any ripples or signs of life in the water.
Sure I said that I didn't believe in the legends from this circle, but I was still looking out anyway. Never hurts to be cautious.
I blinked as Geno leant right over the deck, looking down at the water. It looked like he was about to topple over and fall in.
"Be careful!" I called over to him without thinking.
Geno swung back, smirking at me. "Awww, so you do care about me~"
I laughed. "You wish. You've got the locket with the key. Without that we're dead. That's why I called out."
Geno rolled his eye, walking up to the top section of the deck with me, going beside me and leaning his head against my shoulder.
I glanced at him questioningly, but didn't move him.
"Reeeeaaaapppeeeerrrr..."
"What?"
"Why can't we be more like Nightmare and Cross?"
I blinked. "What do you mean?"
"Well...Nightmare loves Cross, Cross loves Nightmare etc. They're so cute together. They'd probably make a great team..."
I let out a snort of amusement as I turned the wheel a bit, we were already almost at the exit.
"So you're saying that you want to cuddle up to me every Night and receive my love twenty four seven?"
Geno shrugged. "Well you just suggested it~"
I rolled my eyes. "How about...Never?"
Geno huffed, pushing off of me, an odd look in his eyes. He sighed before mumbling something almost incoherent. "The fandom Gods are very displeased..."
"What?"
"Nothing..."
I tilted my head to the side in confusion as Geno walked back down to main deck, a sinister smile forming on his face.
Maybe I shouldn't have said that...
I gulped, shaking my head. Genos loyal to me. I don't need to worry about him. He's fine.
I think...
Five hours later and we'd made it to the cave.
A large dark cave, its rocks jutting out of the surface like large, claw-like hands that reached up before curling around each other to create an arch with an empty black pit in the middle.
We stopped the ship next to the entrance, not about to take it into somewhere where we knew it wasn't coming out.
The entrance to the cave wasn't even tall enough to fit the ship through anyway.
I smirked, leaving the wheel to pick up the chest before walking to the edge of the ship, right where everyone else was.
"Right then crew!" I called, catching everyone's attention. "I'm going in there with Geno. Anyone else want to join us?"
As I expected, silence was my answer.
"Lovely..." I muttered as I stood up on the edge of the ship.
"Great to know your ship is full of cowards." Geno muttered before jumping over, landing down on the black rocks below in a crouch.
I growled, glaring at my crew before jumping down after Geno, having the chest kept tight to my chest.
I landed neatly, no stumbling, no tripping.
I mentally thanked myself for that. If I'd have fallen over at a time like this, I would have never heard the end of it.
Plus the thought of slipping and falling into that dark water was not a pleasing one.
I straightened, glancing at Geno warily as he stepped forwards into the cave, chuckling silently to himself.
"Don't move the ship from this spot!" I called back to the crew. "Just hang tight and wait for us!"
They all nodded at me and I sighed, taking in a large gulp of air before stepping into the darkness of the cave.
The air here was even more suffocating than it was outside. I forced myself to stay calm as I picked my way over to where Geno was.
He was stood by a stone carved pedestal surrounded by a ring of moonlight that came from a small opening in the ceiling.
I walked up to him, slowly placing the chest on top, jolting as a sudden ripple of energy shot through the cave, making an eerie noise ring out. It sounded almost like faint wailing, like someone was crying.
Geno growled, lifting the locket from around his neck. "This place is fucked up..."
I nodded, holding out my hand for the locket. "Lets get this over with..."
Geno smirked at me in an almost sinister way before he dropped the locket into my hand. "Be careful, Captain~"
I looked down at the locket, clicking it open as my mind spun. Geno was planning something. And it wasn't going to be good.
I glanced behind me as I took the key out. Geno was simply stood back by the entrance, looking out at the ocean.
I shook my head, quickly turning back to the chest and inserting the key into the lock.
For some reason I wanted to get this over as soon as possible.
A small click rang out and I grinned, any doubts in my mind vanishing in an instant.
I felt my fingertips surge with energy as I curled them around the rim of the chest, ready to open it.
"Now lets see what treasures lie here.." I whispered as I opened the chest fully.
Instantly I had to take a step back, the sheer beauty of what was in the chest taking my breath away.
It was full to the brim with coins, jewels, pearls, diamonds, emeralds and every precious stone or rock you could ever name.
I went to reach my hand out, about to take a jewel from the pile.
I was so distracted by the treasure that I didn't notice Geno sneak up behind me. I didn't notice him slip the sword from my sheath.
I only noticed him once he'd stabbed it right through my chest, spearing my soul, almost shattering it.
My eyes widened, focusing on my soul. It was in front of me, the sleek sword stabbed right through it.
"Oh Reaper~" Geno purred, moving round to face me, one of his scarred hands cupping my cheek softly. "You didn't really think this would go...smoothly, did you~?"
I opened my mouth to say something, but no words would come out, just a dying wheeze.
"You know what? I like it better when you don't talk~" He let out a laugh before kissing my cheek as my legs gave way beneath me. "Sorry Reaper, but I've got better things to be doing with my life instead of being enslaved to you~"
No sound came out of me as I fell to the ground, my head slamming into the cold rocky floor.
In my space of vision I could see my ship. My ship being broken in half by a swarm of massive tentacles.
I could see my crew screaming and jumping into the water, only to get dragged down into the ocean.
The last thing I saw was Geno, walking to the edge of the cave and swan diving into the water.
I saw the flash of a red tail as he swam away, then everything went black.
